I never liked the way transition bikes looked based on that bowed out down tube. It looks like you are riding a harp. This 2020 model with straight aggressive angles is a thing of beauty.
I have the 2017 scout, aluminum, XO1 build. It’s such a fun all around bike! I got tired of rebuilding the Reverb dropper so I replaced it with the fox dropper (I think it’s the Transfer). I about pulled my hair out trying to get the cable housing through though. Other than that and basic maintenance stuff, it’s been solid. I want to ride 2021 version. It looks a little longer.
Funny, I demo'd a scout and a smug on the same trails (Dupont, NC) two years ago and I ended up with the smug. Scout was more fun, but smug could smash through roots better. Not so sure I'd do the same with this model though. Looks like a blast. Keen to do it again!
So is this the type of bike you could ride at a say Queenstown or any other rough and rowdy bike park? Looking for a bike that can climb but still descend. I understand that it will not be good at either specifically but more interested in a balance.
I have a 2019 scout and it's brill. 27.5 is just the thing for UK dicking about on trails, and no many bikes are better at that than this. Hopefully they kept that character with the new bike. 27.5 will probably be back in fashion in s couple of years when people realise that going sightly faster down a trail doesn't necessarily equal more fun. But by then we'll all be riding e-bikes it seems (🙄) so who cares?
Smaller wheels are stronger which is why ppl refer to them for freeriders. Same with bmx. uses smaller wheels and thicker gage spokes they're stronger obviously give a different feel but all in all that's why.
I so want to demo this by no one sell transition near me and NEMBA Fest is canceled this year, so I won't be able to ride it then. Looks like a great modernized version of the scout but I would still lei kid to see an alu version aswell
The 26" were fun in their day, I had several (9) and a 29" SC HT LT for a minute but down the trail it went, I hated it! It was like a ladder with wagon wheels! *-, but my 27.5" Switchblade is awesome.* I suggest you test ride one, but only if you have a clear credit card with a $12K+ limit.
Im refering to the lines of the frame, the horizontal rocker and slim top tube, the silouet of bike is quite similar, but of course not identical :) The blueish colour, also made me think of last years strive. cheers
Brian Rand no idea when, I am guessing it will happen because that is what they did for the carbon patrol, the nx version didn’t come till after release
It's for 2 kinds of people... dentists that have the money, and die hard riders that sacrifice things in their personal and professional lives to be able to ride a bike that supports their skill level
Francis Peña what? u dumb? that makes perfect sense. for something to be linear, it means it increases or decreases at the same rate but progressive means just to proceed or move forward. I think you're getting progressive mixed up with exponential somehow
@@petertyliszczak3411 a progressive leverage ratio curve can be linear, exponential or regressive. A bike with a beginning stroke leverage ratio of 3,5 and an end stroke ratio of 2,5 will not always have the same spring curve.
Transitions are premium bikes, and I doubt the Ripmo is actually better. Ride an Ibis, Transition, and Yeti back to back and you will see the Transitions stack up, even more so with the new Scout. Also this frame has a lifetime warranty now.
Nate Wildenstein I actually did ride Ibis, Yeti, Transition and many others back to back. The event is called Outerbike. Highly recommend you go to one so you can actually test them back to back. Ibis and Yeti’s are the best rides at this moment, next are Revels. Hope this helps.
@@pjsanab I did ride a Yeti, Ibis, and Transition back to back, it's called NEMBAFEST (RIP). I like the way the Transitions ride the best and believe they are worth the same money as an Ibis or Yeti. If it's not your cup of tea I understand, but to imply that Transitions aren't worth as much as an Ibis or Yeti is absurd. The Ripmo AF is the wildcard, but I could see Transition offering a solid budget aluminum bike like the RAF in the future. All bike values are subjective, but as far as the quality of the frames go, Transitions are on par or better than Yeti and Ibis.
Wait. How much longer and slacker is the Patrol? Is this a way for a bike company to stay relevant? Re design the slowest selling bike... give it enduro geometry. Transition has the Scout and the Patrol. Norco has the Sight and the Range... the Range is actually shorter than the Sight. Who's next?
Got it. 10mm more travel. However, I wouldn't call it 'totally different enduro geo'. Both bikes sport a 64 hta and same sta. And the Scout is now longer than the Patrol. So... Now, I like a shorter bike. I dont recall not grinning ear to ear on a shorter bike. It takes nothing to bring the front wheel up. And you just have to think about it and you're in the air already. This is a trend that, I think, all bike companies are under pressure to follow, lest they lose a sale to a prospective bike buyer who wants the latest but who otherwise has never had a shorter bike or has been told that fun on one is just not possible.
You should try one of these newer, longer, slacker bikes. Make sure to have someone go over riding technique on them on first though, because it is a bit different, although doesn’t take long to get. Who knows, you might like em. Might not too, but you should at least try em if you haven’t. I have a Santa Cruz Bronson V3, very similar to this. No problem getting front wheel up or with it being playful. Increasing front center length doesn’t necessarily mean a less playful or maneuverable bike than a shorter bike if designed properly.
Who said 27.5 was dead in the first place 🤷♂️
Click bait = worked
Cause all the fancy brands are only releasing long travel 29ers
Many brands are only makin 29ers
Because the trends are going towards 29ers again, which I find unfortunate, but it is what it is.
They’re 26”ing the 27.5’s
Halleluja, they fixed the seat tube kink/length! Perfect! (on paper...)
Can't wait to see Grim Donut again!!!!!

Love all the upgrades over the current model, which I've had for 2 years. I'd still like to see an alu version.

Having no aluminum option is unfortunate.

Ahhh Dupont. I gotta get back to NC soon
I test rode the old one and it was awesome. Still love my Patrol , but this version may have been hard to resist if they had it a year ago
Hearing Aid beige. Nice!
Man I want that so bad I have a 2017 scout but this one just looks like slopestyle bike 😍
And I think this will be my next frame!
this is actually really good value for the money

When was that filmed and WNC actually dry?
It's not dry, it's frozen :-) We had some super cold days in January... and now it has rained/snowed for a month :-(
For real! It’s been pissing all over the southeast
We filmed this in the morning before anything thawed out. We actually had to pass on some sections cause they were a sheet of ice.
this is probably my 4th time watching this

clean lines on the new design. sounds like it'll def be capable - i wonder where it'll land on the playful vs stable spectrum.

27.5 or nothing 🤘🏻
Does the front chain ring just almost hit the chainstay??
Wow nice bike
What is the Wolftooth tool you are referring to for that frame mount??
I feel like they sterilized that section of big rock at 3:09-3:10, cut all the roots out. I noticed that the last time I was there :(
27.5 just went to asleep for a little while because 29ers made people who can't ride feel like they can all of a sudden.
‘Anyways’, is not word
how does it climb, i have a 2018 sentinel that i love going down but climbing bot so much. it weighs about 34 pounds and same hta as the scout
This might just be the one
Pretty solid intro!!! 🤯
How does the scout do on climbs??

64° just sounds way too lax to be a great handling All-Mountain, especially compared to the new Switchblade

I like the Scout, but the color option sucks and no glossy finish.
