I've read books by Champions from the Bare Knuckle era and you're still the only person I've seen talk about probing punches with loose fists or selectively bruising your knuckles so you can keep punching. One thing everyone from those old days agreed on was that Boxing and Karate were for self defense 1st and you didn't even talk about Sport until you knew you could protect yourself in the street and hurt people 1st.
Thank you sir. There are those who TALK about it and others who have DONE it. The people who TALK about it are the ones who are supported by the main stream fan who are NOT people who look like me. I do not talk about Joe Rogan for the hell of it. He is the face of myth and unfortunately, that applies to most people on social media.
I learned similar from bare knuckle sparring on my lunch break in highschool. Less damage is good when you have class in 15 minutes. I also would throw in panther claws to spice things up. It seems like a lot of people never learn half clenched fists, and they should! It keeps your hands from hurting afterwards. Great video!
Before i got taller and weighed more, I jabbed the crap out of guys trying to beat me up that out weighed me. The knuckle thing is true. Being fast helps, I use to knock guys off balance with a straight left. He's a good teacher.
What if you were to half clinch when toying and looking for opening but then once you know or found an opening clench the fist last second before impact similar to Bruce Lee's/wing chun concept?
Hey Uncle Sayf , I been practicing muay thai for 3 months now and I'm having a hard time landing punches and kicks during sparring. Can you please make a video on how to land more strikes not only in sparring but also in actual fight
Mr Carman, one question: In a street fight do you strike first and end it quickly with extreme violence or, jab, hit the body, counterpunch, gent, set traps, etc as in a boxing match? You are the foremost authority and I respect your logic and experience. Also is it best to target back of head, behind the ear in a street fight as opposed to the nose or chin?
Roland Diaz: Sir, I will ONLY tell you what I would do. If I cannot get away and I logically assume someone is going to hurt me, I would strike first. But, we have to understand that there are no winners in real violent encounters.
QUESTION: I heard your supposed to punch with your two bigger knuckles because if you punch with the smaller knuckles you risks breaking your hand (knuckle bones). Also I find that when you punch with the top knuckles you risk cutting yourself (skin on knuckles is extremely thin). Can you please give me your thoughts on the above statements I made. Thank you sensei.
khazar devils: The 2 places I show are the four digits between the top and second set of knuckles and the first 2 knuckles on the top set. As for breaking the hand, that can happen any way you punch. It comes down to proper conditioning, placement of the punch and area of usage.
@@TheUmmahFightCamp When practicing do you suggest taping up your hands to prevent the cuts? Also how do you feel about open hand and "cupped" hand slaps?
Also what's your opinion on the vertical fist (basically the part of the hand you use for karate chops but closing the fist and making it a knuckle); I feel its more stable, and strong and less easily damaged if you were to use it in horizontal and vertical continous swinging motions especially on the nose/jaw/neck/chest areas

He is a simple teacher if you do not learn from him you will learn from nobody!

That is the idea actually. It is a WC concept actually. Good comment.

Step towards him and punch/kick. You are out of range.
Step into range then fire.
@@vmntmn It is far more than that lol. Part of it though.
@@TheUmmahFightCamp I am still learning sir and this has helped me substantially in boxing.
@@vmntmn Understood. God Bless. And I too am learning. Every day. :)

@@TheUmmahFightCamp Thanks for the reply sensei. Looking forward to more videos. Please keep them coming. Also could you do a knife fighting lesson?

great video Mr. Carman. Where are the others?
?
@@TheUmmahFightCamp You had many more great bareknuckle tutorials before but I can't seem to find them anymore.

Sounds like you're talking about a Hammer fist.

Yeah back in the day y'all used to actually wreck that's why karate worked when you learned it
