- When John got out of the Marines, he built a successful business. After a series of serious setbacks, he turned to alcohol. He went to prison after several consecutive DUIs. While serving his sentence, a VA representative let him know about resources to address his drinking and help him transition back into society.
Thank you for your service to our country, John. I'm glad you're taking advantage of the VA programs available to you. Prayers for your continued success..
VA support has been my rock since 1986. Due to a heart condition I was honorably discharged in 1971, and married, then returned to college on my GI Bill. Went on to get a Masters in Mental Health and Psychology. I worked at the VA Medical Center in Birmingham, AL until retired. The VA programs for Vets is amazing. Thanks be to GOD for the VA and it's lifetime support.
Financial and legal setbacks may make it difficult for #Veterans to get back on their feet. John found support through a VA representative who helped him find resources for transitioning well into civilian society. VA support for getting back on your feet
I did my time in Korea 1952 to 1954 as an Army Medic. I see a lot of companies refusing to hire National Guard and Reserves, this is sad with the economy the way it. I know what they go through when they come home, glad to see help is there :-)
I am a former Marine myself. Also served in the Army Guard and the NC Air National Guard. 23 yrs total served.

Finally, if you are an unemployed Veteran between 35 and 60, VA’s Veterans Retraining Assistance Program (VRAP) may be able to provide you with money to train for a career in a high-demand occupation. Applications are currently being accepted. For more information and to see if you are eligible, please visit: benefits{dot}va{dot}gov/VOW.
Did you also acquire an advocate from the VBA office? There's the American Legion, VFW, Purple Heart, etc. They will fight tongue, tooth, and nail to help acquire compensation, and at no cost to the vet.
