- Today is an exciting day as we get ready for our next cruise on the newly renovated Navigator of the Seas!! For the first time, we are checking in for our cruise using the Royal Caribbean International App! Checking in on the app gives you new features such as, documentation scanning, security photo taking, and digital set sail passes! Checking in via the app (should) create an easier and expedited check in process at the cruise terminal! We also take time to explore the other impressive features of the app that include deck maps, location finders, dining menus & prices, reservation information, daily calendar, activity planner, excursion information, and so much more! Yay, navigator of the seas was my first cruise back in 2006 😍, we are actually going on mariner of the seas this month and so we will be in cococay and doing the balloon ride I am so excited. We actually checked in for a cruise like two days after we booked it back in March 😅 it was so cool and easy. Love your videos keep up the awesome work.

I checked in for myself online and I had used the app to check in the other person on the reservation, and a week b4 my cruise I checked on the app to see if I could view both set sail passes and I was able to see both of our set sail passes.
I love that the app is more useful than the daily compass, I.E add to calander, book excursions, view the restaurant dinner menus, and description and things to know about each of the activities.

That app is really easy to use. Our only complaint was that activities were slow to be added for our upcoming cruise.
Having the photo uploaded to the app did make boarding go pretty quickly.

I have seen where it says that I need to make reservations first thing when I am on the ship. So, how does that work on the app? Also, how does it work when I want to sign up for the aqua show or other things? Is there a difference between signing up for a restaurant when you have the dinning package as opposed to not having one?

Now that royal now has mustard 2.0 where are you only do two of the steps on the app or on your state room TV where you watch the video and listen to the horn I got a question for the third and last thing on the checklist to do..
Save you already do those things on the Royal Caribbean app and your C pass cards are on the door under cabinet and you want to go to the assigned area to complete your muster drill. Do you have the ability to use your C pass card on your Apple wallet for the officer to scan it to verify you did those two steps on your app or state room TV or do you have to use the physical see pass cards because if you can do either or then, it’s totally convenient of keeping your options open
Hopefully, RC will link the onboard photos to this app in the future. It would be nice to preview and choose the photos you want to purchase.

We haven’t noticed any new outlets, but we noted any we saw in our room tour video we’ll be posting soon. Group chat is still being developed, so not available on the app yet. And yes, there was indeed a hair dryer in the room, and we showed it’s location in our room tour video as well!

We’ve never done The Key ourselves, so we can’t speak to it too much personally. However, we would probably caution getting it just for seating at shows, just because we’ve never had issues getting the seats we wanted. Just be at the theater when the doors open, and you should be able to get whatever seats you want, as long as they’re not reserved. Hope that helps! :)

Anybody know the answer to the question when inputting passport number do I just put the series the numbers in the right corner on the passport or the whole series of numbers on the bottom of the passport?
what is the benefit/risk of checking in early? I got the notice to let me check in two weeks before that sailing date.

Actually, Royal Caribbean has told us several times that they recommend *not* adding your middle name, even if it is on your passport. They say it can cause issues with their system, and that they don’t need it for anything. We’d recommend leaving it as is! 😁

Just watched your video from Liberty. My wife and I are sailing on that ship in March. My check-in day is Thursday 1/20. Is that something you want to do at 12:01 am the morning of (think boarding pass for southwest) or could it be done later that morning? Thank you for all your informative videos.

For specialty restaurant purchases, you’ll want to visit the Cruise Planner on Royal Caribbean’s website. Just login to your account, and under the listing for that cruise, click ‘Plan My Cruise’. That will take you to the Cruise Planner where you can purchase dining, drinks, Internet, shore excursions, etc.! :)

I believe that the photo is only for the mobile check-in. If you did the online check-in, your photo will be taken at the port at check-in, if necessary.

As far as we know, no, there is not. Some of Royal’s ships do now have a wristband you can purchase to use, similar to Magic Bands at Walt Disney World if you’ve ever seen those. :)

Yes, they will have a tangible Sea Pass card for everyone in the party. Depending on the ship and port, they will either be given to you at check-in, or they will be placed in a sealed envelope on your door placard when the rooms become ready at 1:00 PM.

Once you begin the check-in process on the app, do you have to complete it for everyone at the time, or can you check some people in later? Also, is there an option to upload a photo, or does it have to be taken at the time you are checking in on the app?

Honestly, we're not sure, as we've always completed the check-in during one sitting, including taking the pictures. From pulling up our next cruise on the app, it looks like you may be able to check-in separate people at different times, but we're not sure about uploading the photo. :)

Your video seemed to include minor things that others overlook including, like the baggage drop off area and the waiting areas. One more question about the app that you may or may not be able to answer. If someone is not using a passport, and is just travelling with their ID and birth certificate, can they still check in with the app and just take pix of the documents the way you take pix of the passports?

Hoffman Happy Travels OK. If you insist, lol, .... if we purchase the internet for our iPhones will we be able to text between them via the iOS WiFi texting? We previously were on Liberty and realized it was a huge ship. A little more communication between our family members would have been helpful.
It’s not something we’ve done ourselves, so we can’t say for sure. However, based on everything we know, I would say that is certainly possible. We’d recommend ensuring your cell service is turned off, though, just to be sure to avoid any potential charges. Also, you may want to consider a WiFi-based texting app, such as WhatsApp or Viber.

What is the process once you get to the cruise terminal? I assume you need to pickup your sea pass card somewhere at one of the desks.

The process is super easy and efficient! You’ll just go through standard security, they’ll scan your mobile app Set Sail pass, and you’ll proceed to boarding the ship! Your Sea Pass cards will typically be waiting for you in a sealed envelope at your stateroom, though this varies by port and ship. Can we print passes from the app?

There’s no option to print from the app (you usually just scan the pass on the app itself at the port). However, we suppose you could take a screenshot and then print that out if you’d prefer. We can’t say for certain if that would work, but it seems like it should. We’d definitely still have a way to pull it up on the app just in case! :)

The last we heard from our partner at Royal Caribbean, chat/messaging was being developed, but had not yet been implemented fully. I believe it’s still being tested on certain ships, like Harmony and Allure. Hopefully everyone has it soon! :)

Yes, it really is an incredible system! We’ve used it a few more times since we made this video, and we flew right through the terminal and on to the ship each time!
Not sure when Freedom will be fully supported, as they have to cater the app to each individual ship’s needs and network. However, right out of Amplification would make a lot of sense! :)

You should never display your barcodes! ( Concert tickets, Admissions, Sail Pass, etc ) I love using the app to plan my MDR meals out in advance before the cruise. My girlfriend is amused that I already know what desert I am having on Day 3 and such. Did you use the app to chat for free onboard?
Hi Tom! The new chat feature on the app actually isn’t free. It’s $1.99 per day per person. So we haven’t been using it.
