I feel like the weird lyrics of cat and dog are actually perfect for their "youthful" vibe. When you think back to childhood crushes, it's not complicated. It's just you wanting to stay by someone's side, like their "pet". That's also why I think the more aggressive hip hop style works. Young boys often wanna present a more tough side of themselves when talking to their crushes. Reminds me of BTS's boy in luv, aggressively singing "why are you shaking my heart" and "I wanna be your oppa". 😂😂
Honestly, I kinda slept on Nap of a Star. I'm not usually into these slow moving high register songs. But when I went to their Chicago Showcase they did an acoustic version and it flat out made me cry. Soobin cried on stage near the end of the song and you could hear many people in the audience crying softly as well. It was so heart wrenching and emotional. It's a reflective song. On a diff note, I knew Our Summer would be your fave. It was a bit more personal without being too slow paced and reflective.
Listen, I went to the Orlando and Atlanta showcase and I wasn't the biggest fan of NOAS at that point but then it became my fav from that era from the live acoustic hahah. I can't listen to the song now without remembering how much I cried in the crowd listening to it hahahah

But it is the same synth used for roughly 3 seconds on both songs respectively just tweaked in tone, added reverb, very slightly increased in volume, and the mixing is changed where the synth “falls” through more of the left side of your ears if you’re using headphones for “Nap of a Star”. Whereas it “falls” down the middle of your hearing when wearing headphones in Butterfly (prologue mix) if that makes sense. Again, not exactly the same, but I’m not surprised that the same company would go ahead and sample a sound they’ve used before. But, I am not one to argue if you still don’t believe me, it’s your thought so have a healthy life💜
The song “Our Summer” really grows on you. It wasn’t my fav song on the album at first but now it’s my favourite one. The melody gets stuck in my head.

This is the 1st time I'm actually listening into their album. They...this album...they sound like Rookies! How interesting. And I don't mean that in a bad way at all. In a time where idol groups are debuting sounding like bloody seasoned veterans TXT actually sound like the rookies they f*ucking are! They're all raw, & clean air & fresh with no individual colour yet but with that serious hint of legit potential especially in that last song. Their music is different & ensures that their fans are theirs & will not compete with Bts Army at all. Huh, I like it! This is a good strategy Bighit is taking. They sound interesting & like they have room to grow rather than debuting sounding like established vets which actually can limit you eventually because the truth is you may have to change your sound drastically to get out of the box you unintentionally put yourself in thereby risking the fans you have accumulated.
For me it's: Our Summer Blue Orangade Cat & Dog Crown Nap of a Star But it varies a bit depending on my mood but overall I was so glad someone else loves Our Summer as much as I do and really gets the same feeling I was getting! Love your in depth review!! Keep it amazing!
In my opinion, this album tells a story about growing up, with each song as a representation of their growth. In the beginning of the track, we're presented with, "crown". It is a bubblegum pop, energetic, youthful song. In each track the boys gets older as they experience something. "Blue orengeade", they're a bit more mature with the more popy american pop song and the more teenage-like song. "our summer" , they're experiencing the nostalgia of growing up, they're maturing. (also you described "our summer" PERFECTLY 👌, And i was right! I knew you'd like "our summer" :D) "cat and dog" they're trying to be or act more mature, but they kinda inadvertently act younger. They tried to be something else. Even if they seemed younger, they are growing. And the last "nap of a star" which is where they are most mature. But that doesnt mean thats the end for their growth. For me it has this feeling of space, the unknown. Or longing (i guess?) Even if they are the most mature here, they still have to and will grow. In conclusion, I love txt so much, their music means quite much, and.. Yeahh.

I think I disagree with you a little about our summer 🤔 I know the drop isn't that typical summer banger but it's the type of song I'd play while driving with the windows down and the sun in my face and my hair blowing in the wind. In fact I've done just that and it was really pleasant and lovely. I definitely see how it feels nostalgic but up until now it's made me feel really happy and blissful and free
Okay, Our Summer, the way you described it is extremely similar maybe even exactly like the way I thought of the song when I first heard it! I really like how simple and consistent it is and I think the other reason I like it so much is because I’ve been in choir for about 5 years and an acapella group. I tend to listen to vocals in songs more than other parts of songs and their voices sounded really nice in a higher range. Also you don’t really hear songs like this often and idk I just really enjoyed it overall

I think I disagree with you a little about our summer 🤔 I know the drop isn't that typical summer banger but it's the type of song I'd play while driving with the windows down and the sun in my face and my hair blowing in the wind. In fact I've done just that and it was really pleasant and lovely. I definitely see how it feels nostalgic but up until now it's made me feel really happy and blissful and free

Okay, Our Summer, the way you described it is extremely similar maybe even exactly like the way I thought of the song when I first heard it! I really like how simple and consistent it is and I think the other reason I like it so much is because I’ve been in choir for about 5 years and an acapella group. I tend to listen to vocals in songs more than other parts of songs and their voices sounded really nice in a higher range. Also you don’t really hear songs like this often and idk I just really enjoyed it overall

CRYING AT HOW YOU DESCRIBED "OUR SUMMER" THATS LITERALLY THE FIRST THING I THOUGHT😭 to me, that song felt like the moment before you leave a memory behind as it is, without altering or being in it anymore. it was precious, fleeting like the summer, and now it's over and you move on to other seasons. but the memories stay, and this song feels like that exact cusp when you know you have to let go, and it is so bittersweet. for me it's still a summer song, because in every trip i've gone to during summer, there's always that one quiet, discreetly sad and warm moment when you realize it's coming to an end. thank you for summing that up so beautifully🥺🤍
