I love this! Exactly in Guatemala and Central America does all the time with buses it gets more power and sound strong ! Automatic are disposable and have lack of power!!!
You must change the parameters in the ecm, currently it was set up for an automatic, you need to change it to a manuel, did you swith over the output speed sensor?
No. In most medium-duty (Class B) manual trucks and buses it is, but I have seen and driven some tractors/trucks where 1st gear was bottom left (usually treated as "Low" and you would start in 2nd or 3rd)
knightrider1545 I thought so for a while too, but Eaton Fuller transmissions are built for 70-80,000 pound tractor-trailer loads. They tell you not to start in 1st gear if you're not hooked up due to the major difference in weight and engine torque.
knightrider1545 There's a difference in the amount of power needed to take off when loaded and unloaded. This summer, I took a 2015 Freightliner to UPS in PA that was rated at 35,000 weight. The engine can pull up to 1,650 lb-ft of torque when a trailer is attached. It actually creates more damage to the clutch to start in 1st in that situation because the load isn't heavy enough, so Eaton's owner manual suggested starting in 3rd. If I were pulling a trailer behind it, and it were full (45,000 lbs), I would have started in 1st. The final decision depends on the model of your truck, amount of weight you're carrying, and the number of available gears (usually 6, 8, 10, 13, or 18) in your truck.
It derated because you forgot to put the auto shifter in D. Looks like it was in R... Pissed off the engine computer... My bus does the same thing all the time--even without an engine computer...
I like when you change the gears on the gear shift on the bus.

I would LOVE ❤️ to drive a stick shift bus or even a car one day. I am almost 46 years old, and I have NEVER driven a stick shift before lol 😝!
The best decision you made by junking the AT545 for a manual transmission.
floating the bus, went looking to see if anyone floated theirs and you sure did.
Noticed the range switch on the knob. 12 Speed?
Just like Dorothy Harris did it!

Driving this bus did you double clutch or float gears or drive it like a car?
This is why manual transmission can be a pain in the &$$ at times.
Did you enjoy the test drive on that day?
Eaton-Fuller 6 speeds you can shift like a car.
It's a GM the check engine light is one because their is always generally a problem.
I'd like to put a 15 speed or a 10 speed in a skoolie motor home. Is this possible? I'd love your input?
What is that shift pattern? The knob say its a road ranger (roundhouse) Transmission. But it doesn't shift like one.
This one is an Eaton Fuller FS-6306 6 speed. I think the knob is from another transmission. The splitter doesn't work for this type of transmission.

This is Diesel-powered, but does this have air brakes?
No, it has hydraulic brakes.
Thanks!
Is first gear always top left in manuals?
No. In most medium-duty (Class B) manual trucks and buses it is, but I have seen and driven some tractors/trucks where 1st gear was bottom left (usually treated as "Low" and you would start in 2nd or 3rd)

Start in 2nd/3rd? isn't that heavy for the clutch?

Donnelle Bivens What do you mean? by :"the major difference in weight and engine torque".

He pulled out a mechanical AT545, no computer= no codes

Read my comment a little closer... ;)
Oo
Niice
No seatbelt?
4:25 seatbelt ? ;)
I did not see it on before that.... :)
ok ;)
If the engine cannot see vehicle speed it will derate, and set the CEL.
Thats kinda dumb.
knightrider1545
That's the way with any electronic engine programming. .. :-/
Still is kinda uneducated tho.
