The Gibson J-45, nicknamed "The Workhorse," is Gibson's best-selling acoustic guitar of all time and has been a cornerstone of our round-shoulder, dreadnought line since 1942 and has been heard on countless records, including your favorite artists - it does exactly what you need it to! Known for its full, balanced expression, warm bass, and excellent projection, the J-45 is perfect for singer-songwriters, strummers, and pickers alike whether you’re into country, blues, bluegrass - or even rock - it’s the perfect performer guitar. Did you know the Gibson J-45 is actually the most recorded acoustic guitar of all time? That’s because the design of this acoustic is renowned for its balanced mid-range, bass, and treble, making it ideal for any musical style as nothing becomes too overbearing. We can almost guarantee you have a record in your collection with the Gibson J-45 on - it’s THAT popular!
Featuring a mahogany back and sides and a Sitka spruce top, the J-45 provides a beautiful blend of durability and tonal quality which will only sound better with age. The LR Baggs VTC pickup system, with its under-saddle pickup, ensures that your sound is always clear and natural when you’re mic’d up, and the volume and tone controls are neatly tucked away, staying out of the way while giving you full control over your sound. The J-45 also has Grover tuners for precise tuning stability and quick tune-ups when needed.
It’s nice to play, too! With its comfortable rounded C neck profile, the Gibson J-45 is designed for smooth playability, making it great for long jam sessions. If you think of a Gibson acoustic guitar, the J-45 is probably the one that comes to mind for you! It's the perfect embodiment of a go-to acoustic, combining classic aesthetics with modern functionality for the guitarist who needs a “Workhorse”. Whether you're gigging or recording, the Gibson J-45 Standard is definitely a guitar worth considering when you’re comparing Gibson acoustic guitars or buying your first Gibson acoustic.

I tried a few Standards and a 50s faded, which were all nice but none really lit me up. Tried a 50s original. Fell in love. Gave it a forever home 😍

I have noticed there are many used j45’s for sale. Folks buy them, and maybe after playing them for a while, they do not like them anymore?

I played 2 and wasn't too impressed. I then played an Eastman E10ss and that one I bought. I will decide if it want to install a a pick up or not.

I own a Yamaha, two Martins, and a Larrivee. I would not buy a guitar made in China.

I have 3 Martin, 4 Gib, 1 Lowden, 2 Taylor, 3 Fender and 4 Eastman. Eastman are sister companies with Bourgeois. I prefer my E20DTC over my D28.
