Not shipping a golf bag but I will be shipping a large Ping Golf Duffle bag and wanted to be prepared with the proper supplies. Found this by searching how to ship a golf bag. Thank you! How things have changed in the past 4+ years! Mose's surprise howling was a big plus!
Oh my GOODNESS!! I was looking through your videos cuz I remember you shipped a giant ... ahhh something and used that black wrap ( which I got) now I need to know how to use it and I came across this Hidden gem!! Thank you again sir for your Awesome Informative Content!!
For some reason I never think to use trash bags for items like this. Great reminder that that’s a very viable option. Also, it definitely helps to have a clean (uncluttered) space like you seem to. Makes the chore much less daunting. Great video!
Great advice right there. I like to us the black contrucgtion bags. They are a little more expensive but thicker to. Thanks for the great video and love the pup. You are a taping fool like me. I think there is nothing a that a tape gun can't fix. LOL
golf club box for golf clubs at U-Haul is only $5.95; pop it in tape it up. As you point out, the bag is made to be handled so without clubs you could send it without any additional packing. I think the amount of bubble wrap you used cost more than the $5.95 box? Also, the box method uses much less tape.
@@MrDeputy83 the U-Haul website says it holds up to 65 lbs so as long as adding the clubs wouldn't make it heavier than 65 lbs you probably could. I'd wrap the clubs together and bubble wrap them too so they don't beat each other up in transit but it seems like it would work.
Man it's fate... I just picked up 7 golf bags and 100+ clubs at an estate sale and figured I'd have to just sell locally because I had no clue how I'd ship them!!! Awesome video Josh I appreciate it!
Great idea! Just bought a golf bag for 5 now i know how im going to ship it.. oh and thanks man i notice that you actually take the time to respond to comments not all you tubers do that!!
Oh hey! Faithful watcher of your videos but this was before my time... I googled how to ship a golf bag and found this one tonight. Oh my gosh. How the office has changed. Thanks Josh!
2 boxes that the USPS padded flat rate envelopes come in put together and it's a tight fit. Also Home Depot sells furniture wrap and that works great for bigger items instead of the smaller wrap.
You make it seem so easy but doable! And to think I passed up a golf bag at a rummage sale for $5 because I didn't want to deal with shipping. Next time I will pick it up! Thanks for the video, Josh.
Great idea. I also use brown thick paper, it comes in a large roll, is very thick and looks professional, just a thought. You can get it on line, eBay etc., or office depot.
I just bought a golf bag and clubs-knew I saw a video somewhere about shipping golf bags-works for me . I use bags alot when I don’t have the right box, also makes shipping cheaper than using a box.
What kind of weight scale do you have? Been looking to purchase one to have most accurate shipping cost. Also great video! I just sold a vintage Gatorade golf bag and had to look up on RUclips how to ship, came across your video and was so excited to see your method. Thanks!
I knew it would get low views at first because it's kind of a boring topic. I tried to add some humor and excitement to make it worth your while. Hahah
OMG, AWESOME video! Just picked up an amazing fancy golf bag full of clubs for $30, but didn’t think I’d be able to ship it. Which carrier do you use when shipping bags? Thanks again for this video, so helpful!!
I know somewhere in one of your videos you show how to ship golf clubs. I watched it but didn't need to know-how at the time. Can you or someone please tell which one? Thanks
Hi Josh, So I picked up a Callaway big Bertha cart bag yesterday at Savers for $15 and just wanted to have in my Arsenal how to ship it when the time comes video was great thanks for the info. When something is over the initial pound I have been rounding up to the nearest pound, In the eBay shipping area it says if something is 13.2 to round up to 14 yes or no?
Thank you! Very Helpful. I bought a golf bag for $10.00 but I was a little intimidated or I could spell it Itemidated. .lol I was intimidated of how and how much for shipping. Thanks for the tips!!
This method is best if you DONT have a box but I would reccomend finding a box if you can. Apparently U haul sells a box specifically for golf bags for like $6. If you have a U Haul near you, go check them out!
The clubs by themselves ship in medium mailing tubes from the USPS. For shipping a whole set of clubs you should probably get a sport utility box from uhaul and ship them via FedEx.
Thank you so much for the speedy and thorough reply. I have some left-handed clubs in the garage I was just going to give to Goodwill. After watching one of your BOLO videos decided to try to sell them. Figured I better figure out shipping first. Thanks again! ❤️ your videos!
I don’t remember what we did in this video but now days you should definitely ship ups ground. Any other service is far too expensive. I’d also recommend using a box.
While watching the hanging with the Joshes I heard mentioned about golf clubs and was wondering if you have ever had problems with shipping and your method. I always seem a bit worried when sending other than just the heads. My normal is sending the handles encased in strong pvc pipe, bubble wrap head, enclose and seal in plastic before boxing. Occasionally I can just find a strong cardboard tube that just fits. Both give higher shipping cost. Wondering if there is a better way. I have sold a larger bag but I bagged and boxed (created from 2 extra large HD) to the smallest size I could. I am also running into being less than an ounce over and into the next higher price often. So I am constantly trimming lol, especially for the larger sizes. For other types of smaller items I can get away with wrapping and sealing with bubble wrap for some for exterior. But I use the Home Depot foil insulation type, pretty sturdy for non breakables. Next to those in the store, The construction sill plate foam rolls have also found to be handy for protection with some of my shipments
For my golf clubs I use the priorty Mail tubes from USPS. Sometimes they are not long enough so I have to tape two together. I think the PVC pipe is a little overboard to be honest. I just wrap each end on the club in some bubble wrap and stick it in the tube. I've never had an issue.
I think I would have used a couple cardboard boxes and taped them together like you do with the golf clubs in the triangle boxes just with bigger boxes. I saw a video Callie did showing how she shipped things like that for Ryan and Alli. I haven't had anything that big to ship yet. Just a thought for next time.
Is Shipping usually that expensive for items that weigh over 5 LBs. ? Just wondering cause I'm selling one of my own bags and I might lose money from paying for such high shipping BTW: selling through mercairi and it says there's a $10.00 shipping fee but will I have to pay more in shipping through UPS? Thanks !
For something as big and heavy as a golf bag, yes. You can try fedex. They may be cheaper than usps. You'll pay a minimum of like $25 to ship a golf bag anywhere though.
@@HairyTornado I thought I saw you do this in a video one time but I couldn’t find the video and then I thought maybe I had dreamed it! 😆 What shipping service do you use for this kind of case? Priority Mail! UPS? Best price?
Bubble wrap is so expensive, I just telescope three 12x12 priority boxes together. I try to only sell $75+ bags because the shipping is so intimidating.
I'm curious, the $97.00 the customer originally paid for shipping, was that a flat rate you had added to your listing? I have only done free shipping and am trying to learn about charging for shipping.
I set the bag at calculated shipping bit I set the weight at 7 lbs. I tend to over estimate on larger items just to be safe. Once packed, it was only 5 lbs 1 oz so I basically refunded about 2 lbs worth of shipping costs.

Any thoughts on how I can ship everything (golf bag, 14shafts and balls :) hehehe All together ? Many thanks. p.s. Packing tape 4 Life!
FedEx or UPS with eBay rates is way way way better 1/2 price or less, same insurance limit just hit the button and buy the additional insurance like always.
I’m amazed that they didn’t bat an eyelash as $90 for shipping. I too would have refunded the difference. Usually I ship large items like that through FedEx. Cost for FedEx Ground is about $25.
Fedex is absolutely useless in my area - contracted drivers, seldom the same driver more than a week or two at a time, sometimes they just skip days, it has led to all kinds of incoming delivery issues. No way I'd trust them with outgoing stuff (knowing this same stuff may be going on at the destination and I'm going to have to deal with upset buyers).
New to your channel (just subscribed). Very cool video. Would it have been cheaper to do FedEx home delivery for this one? I have a bag to list on eBay. I will check the rates for a few cities around the US. Cheers, Julien
FedEx is usually really good for larger stuff but it was roughly the same price as priorty in this case. Also, the buyer paid for priorty. They expect it in 2-3 days and fedex would take 7-10
I’ve done similar but put a cardboard wrap before putting it in the bag. Also, FedEx smart post would have been a lot less. Any thing oversized like that, go fedex.
Hairy Tornado On my bigger items I always give them the choice of calculated USPS priority or Fedex Smart Ship. 9 time out of 10 it’s a heck of a lot difference between the 2. But there are people who want it in 2 days instead of waiting and pay extra.

FedEx has cheap boxes as well. UPS wants like $25 for a box. That bubble wrap cost like $16 though.
That box is $7.95 now and the box weighs 3 pounds so I'm guessing that would significantly change the shipping costs.
