Mountfield MC3616 Chainsaw Review: www.diydoctor....
We checked this saw out live on location with the groundskeepers at Orchardleigh Golf Club in Somerset, UK, to see how well it fairs when its put through its paces.
We also have a range of chainsaws available in our online store: www.diydoctor....
Loving the boiler suit - looks nice and snug
+Orange Sofa Well thank you Orange Sofa, loving the name.
Thanks for the demo. Very informative. Looks like a nice saw.
Please also remember not to use the Chainsaw when you are dressed like a Clown.
Good demo only the lead really needs to be behind the user not in front, if he steps forward to balance himself the lead could be kicked into the blade. unfortunately the lead doesn't look long enough to drape it over a shoulder out of the way. the log could do with being put higher on a bench, good effort for protective gear though.
Thanks for your comment. It's what these guys do for a living and I'm told that seeing the cable, as\long as its behind the blade is infinately better than having it behind you where anyone could trip over it and drag the chainsaw from your hands. The safety gear is standard for them obviously.
Thanks, chaps.
No worries Clayton, thanks for taking the time to write in.
Chainsawing is all about concentration...
My father told me (at about 14?) if the chain is moving YOU CONCENTRATE.
If you can't concentrate on where the chain is and where the cable is, then perhaps chainsawing isn't for you?
Bit like using an electric mower - make sure the chord is flicked out in a straight line behind you. Check with every cut - it's habit forming, move to a new cut, check or flick the chord out behind
As you will be focused on what is happening in front of you:
a) you should notice if the chord is in front of you / in the vidinity of the chain
b) it shouldn't be there if you're paying attention between cuts
Ha, iv just used this with no PPE... it's not that fucking dangerous unless you don't hold onto it tight. Iv just used it to chop up my sofa... worked well although the chain kept coming off.
