I watched my Dad lose his job he held for 16 yrs. My mother began working.
Not once did she think she didn't need him.
Not once did she say you don't make money during an argument.
Not once did he get jealous of her.
Not once did she do her own thing. She still asked permission to spend her money on herself and he said no. She didn't whine or get upset. She knew it was reasoning behind his no to her.
They've just had their 31st anniversary last month.
They both well rounded and knew how to switch roles. While my mom worked my dad did the housework. He knew how to do everything my mom did.

A lot of times...when a man says no to a woman's extra spending....he is also quietly saying no to himself. THAT is when a man finds a wife. My ex-wife didn't leave just because I couldn't find another job after I was laid off. She left because I remembered that I had a pair and started acting accordingly. I demanded my respect when it came to her and her daughter. Unfortunately, by that point, it didn't matter. She decided she didn't sign up for what I wanted out of the marriage and bounced when we were five months behind in rent. Found out the hard way that if your wife doesn't respect you before you get married, she won't respect you after. It won't get any better. A woman won't stay with a man she doesn't respect.

It's sad men don't know how find a wife. My husband came home and told us he was fired from his job. After finding out what happened I said to the family we will get through this. Now my husband and I have rental property, own our home.
The best thing my wife could’ve ever did for me was to leave me. She gave me a whole year to suffer alone in the dark. Cried many tears and night alone. As men we have to suffer and do the leg work, to become great. Let’s build brothers.
A lot of women these days once they see a man with money she “accidentally” gets pregnant or play the long game of trying to get a divorce. This is why many men need to be responsible and careful on who they deal with.

I had a female friend ask how much money a perpetually single friend of mine made. I told her it was nothing special. She never ended up hitting but boy did she get around. 4 kids from 3 or 4 different fathers. He would have been a meal ticket if he made enough money, but that's all he would have been.
He eventually did get married and his wife walks all over him. It's really pretty sad.

Honestly I think he just needs to end things and leave because he's miserable but they have two kids and he doesn't want to them to grow up to divorced parents because he was a child of divorce. Which I get but he's got another 11 years. He shouldn't be miserable for 11 years. Specially because it can't be a great home environment, apparently she has a temper and he just keeps his mouth shut and head down.

I listened to a interview of Russell Simmons a month ago. This guy was a walking business conglomerate at 1 time. He was probably worth over 300-400 million in the late 90's. Then he decided to persue his model dream girl at 42 yrs old. Now he's complaining about she and her husband swindling millions in stock from him. His own daughters have turned against him. Now he's selling Def-Jam and in debt for 15 million.

This is why forging a strong friendship FIRST before you get together is important or creating a friendship during the dating time instead of just a romantic sexual connection will pay in dividends. Everyone needs to have some more self-discipline if they want to take control of their choices and be better informed to understand the values and actions of their partner. Everyone gets along when life is "fun and butterflies" but as soon as certain realities hit, the real grit of life either death, loss, grief etc then we really see who is there for us and who is not. These people become like family (or the notion of family - loyalty and support in the tough times). If people had more patience and gave time to getting to know someone and seeing these behaviours roll out over time they can then decide if that person is right for them and move the friendship to something more. PATIENCE is key, with both ourselves and others.Then we can all be empowered.

My parents met when they were broke in college washing dishes in the cafeteria at UC Berkeley. My father was broke for years being a professional student trying to become a professor earning only a meager stipend. My mother wore the pants for years. Even though she made good money as a civil engineer, she faced that earnings ceiling as a woman of color working in the corporate world in San Francisco in the 70’s, 80’s and early 90’s. Moms got redlined and we lived deep in the hood in San Francisco Lakeview District on Randolph Street when it was the worst neighborhood in the whole city in the 80’s and early 90’s. Moms never complained. My pops eventually got a good job in the Baltimore area and we moved to the suburbs 3,000 miles away in the early 90’s. This allowed my mother to retire early and be a stay at home mom in her early 40’s.
Nowadays, the modern woman would’ve dumped my father as soon as the partying from college was over and he wasn’t being a top 10% earner immediately. My mother was with my father until he passed away early at 53 from unseen health problems. They were together 30+ years thick and thin. I don’t know that I will ever have what my father had. All of these modern women are for the streets, thotted out and addicted to attention, invested in childish mind games and are always looking for the bigger better deal.

Facts man...I messed up lettin his girl pressure me into marriage due to our connection and religion. Just for her to leave when shit got rough. Still had 20k saved and I wasnt working for a few months...soon as I started working again we down to bout 16k and she started workin too. I got into a bad car accident and couldnt work for a couple more months. A few months later she broke it off cuz she thought she couls so better. We separated. Put the kids on the backburner as well as me. That bait and switch is real. 5.months later calls me crying and apologizing only to try and manipulate me cuz she was struggling bad. I tried to test her out and I was right that it was just a desperate attempt to save herself. We are not living together and I'm filing for divorce. I was doing really well picking up the pieces and getting m life back on track. But because I wanted to save my family I slept with her and tried demanding a change which she acted like she was with but the moment she got upset and disrespectful cuz she cant help herself...I bounced...shit put me right back in a depression reattaching myself to her emotions. I just had saving my family in mind but she got mental and anger issues. Finishing out the divorce and moving on. She stingy with the childrens tax money so I just said fuck it all I can get my money on amd be on top. She just gon Blow through it and hurt again but this time she will think twice before blowing all her money.

I agree and disagree with Anton. Going through trials does solidify relationships, but like most things it takes multiple steps to become successful. Going through hardships and things like love languages work. It doesn’t work if you have no foundation for it to work. Counseling by itself doesn’t work, but if you’ve done the work and then added on counseling, it can help. These are additional things, not primary things.
