    I've had my 2001 4-litre since new and I still look forward to driving it every day, with full confidence in its reliability. That really says something about a vehicle when the ownership experience still feels that way after that much time.

    I love their bad reputation. It keeps them cheap for us ! I've had three ZJs and thee WJs. My current immaculate low mile 2002 overland is the best but I loved them all. I lean towards the injected 6 because of the great performance economy combo but the 4.7 HO is just fantastic. The people who cry about engine failures are generally the ones who decided to just sneak home with the red light on after a fan belt or a hose let go. When a modern car overheats you STOP and you fix it or tow it. An expensive tow is always cheaper than a new engine.

      Mine's an 04, had a wiring issue, the mechanic was apologetic about the cost of the repair and I'm like, "You mean to tell me something wore out on a (then) seventeen year old Jeep? I'm shocked."
      The simple joy of motor vehicle ownership can be summed up in two words, "Now what?"

    Most of them didn't go off road much in there early years, but now wj's are out there just as much as xj's and other jeeps. And they keep up just fine.

    My dad used to have a 2002 Grand Cherokee Limited when I was 10 years old, and it had one of the most comfortable seats of ANY car I had ever sat in.
    They were EXTREMELY plush & comfortable, and the moment I sat down on them for the first time while we were picking it up back in July 2010, I was in heaven - it felt like a giant sofa on wheels... 😍👌

      Ralph Hardwick if you're still looking, the XJs (reg Cherokees) are soaring in value, especially if you can get a mint and rust free example. Atleast the value is soaring in the north east USA. The ZJ/WJs are somewhat stable in price currently, I'm partial to the 4.0L and not the 4.7 but they both will do an excellent job.

    my mom used to have this car, a 2001 4.7 Limited. Very comfortable, and the V8 made the car run like a beast... the only downside: piece of shit of reliability, the car had only 65000 km and the electronics where fucked up, sometimes the key won't even turn so you could start the car. Not to mention the maintenance at the dealership was a bit to expensive ($1500)

    It's always funny when some fool says "blah blah most will never go offroad" so you don't really need it, oblivious to the fact that much of the world encounters SNOW in the winter, and given more than a small amount, you may not only encounter a snow terrain just as demanding as being off-road, you might even need it to get out of your driveway in the morning because the effin' snow plow went through and you've got two feet high ice chunks between you and the road.

      Finally someone with sense. You're right, everyone who's older than 35 years old goes on and on about how these SUVs are only used to go to the mall or Modern SUVs will wet themselves if they see some dirt. It's even worse on the old Motorweek Retro Reviews, the comment sections are filled with Baby Boomers talking about how their 1982 Camaro lasted them 35 years and over 500,000 Miles, or how their Truck is still, well, trucking after 40, then they go on and on about how modern cars are terrible and only appeal to Karens with all their driver aid systems, and how when they were driving, they never crashed. They don't realise that Human Error is one of the most dangerous things while driving and many many Macho, Alpha Male, Republican, 70 year olds with a 69' LTD don't think about that. They only think "New car bad" or "New car look same as other car"

    • @VMAFIA
      @VMAFIA 2 года назад +1

      I dont mean to be rude but winter driving is nothing compared to offroad driving. For one you're in 4lo offroad and require more ground clearance and articulation. I agree that during winter you need a solid awd system to help maintain traction and a few inches of clearance helps in deep snow but the wj less capable then modern suvs in the snow and is far more capable offroad.
