Haha thanks 😃 I prefer making the longer informative and garden tour videos but I wanted to make some of these seasonal how to’s to fit what people seem to be buying at the minute and help get across that these plants are easier than they might think!
@@crescentcoachworkscollecti378 Thanks, I really do appreciate it, I try to bring my own mix of passion and logic to them so it’s great that you’re getting something out of them!
I live in south florida and have 2 pots with red salvia, but only one pot has flowered so far (after pruning last season) but it’s literally one shoot that dropped most of its petals before it was even done 😭😭 idk what the heck i did.😂
Shane,l live in Staffordshire and always lose the amistad but not this time l ripped them up shook most the soil off and plonked them in pots in the greenhouse, they've all survived and lve taken early cuttings as a experiment just to see if it works
@@mamoonrouf I got these from www.growparadise.co.uk looks like he’s out of stock atm though. He just got more in the other day and they went straight away so keep checking and you might get lucky
Thanks Stephen, I will do! It’s more a practical setup than a thing of beauty this year but I’ll have a quick look before the summer planting and I take the polytunnel down later this month.
yes still getting these frosts here wish it would hurry up and warm up my kitchen jungle needs going out lol Great video as always and look forward to the update ;-)
Mine too, it’s packed ! Thanks, just a quick how to video this time as a lot of people seem to be buying the plugs this year but I’ll have an update soon enough 😃
Thank you! Trying to cover the basics as there’s a lot of new people to tropical gardening this year who might not necessarily have a gardening background 😃
I’m not sure if it’s been a long winter, a bad cold winter or it’s just lockdown etc dragging every thing on. Regardless your videos help me and others in these shit times. Let’s stay positive for the rest of the year 😋
Thanks Harold, I appreciate you watching and I do try to keep them positive even if I’m not one of those eternally optimistic people! It’s been a long winter for sure, lockdown hasn’t really affected me too much but winter has, it’s certainly been frustrating! Thanks for sticking with my videos - until I get the summer planting in a lot of them will be how to’s or plant info vids but I’m happy they’re helping you out 😃
Are these Salvia woody or leafy? I have Salvia Royal Bumble and it’s more like a small shrub so wondered if Amistad was the same. I was worried that the Royal Bumble would be killed by this long winter as my soil is heavy clay but so far ok so would be happy to trial others.
They’re a new plant to my garden but I believe they stay leafy in the UK. From what I hear you’ve got a good chance of getting them through but they might be tender in cold areas.
Have you every successfully germinated Alpinia seeds or Setaria Palmifolia? I just can't get them to germinate. They are in propagators at a steady 27°C
@@oliverbrown1804 Definitely! Even some more legit catalogue sellers often bump up the saturation in pics of bamboos etc, it’s definitely worth looking at other pictures before you buy!
design tip , if you could fill 1/3 of the shot with your face rather than two thirds, that would be great help please. step away from the camera , like a lot . less George more jungle
Thanks Alan, I appreciate it and it’s something I’m fully aware of. My current mic doesn’t work great at a distance when it’s windy unfortunately so I’ve found I have to stay closer (I will get a better one when I can justify it). Plus, a lot of the garden is still very much a work in progress so not the tropical paradise I’d love to fill every shot with, you’ll see things change very soon though!
Who needs gardener's world, your videos are so informative . Cheers

Salvia amistad looks amazing and goes crazy, I leave mine out all year, and it comes back everytime in the midlands
That’s great Shane, I need some fast growing colour this year. I’ll probably be leaving mine out too, maybe take a plant or two in as insurance!

Hi George, plenty of guidance there, thumbs up as always xx
Thanks Yvette 😃
Perfect timing, I just received 3 Musa Basjoo, 3 Maurelli and Colocasia Blue Hawaii plugs the other day! 🌴
Hi Martin ,Can I ask where you purchased the plugs from can't seem to find any.
Nice one Martin, great choices!

This would save me a good few quid George! The expense this year has been adding up, I’ve been missing a trick!
Haha! Or what’s more likely to happen, you buy your usual bigger plants then the plugs as well 😂
@@GeorgesJungleGarden you’re probably right!

Good video. When are we going to get a tour of your garden?
Thanks! Hopefully in the next few weeks, the fire pit won’t be done but I’ve made good progress in the middle jungle clearing area 😃

What is the lovely pink plug plant on the right hand side of the video image?
It is a Coleus Crimson Ruffles from Dibleys Nurseries, there was a big delay on China Rose so I had to make a change!
George what seed did you mention at 4.17 you said it grows tall tropical foliage plant ?
Hi Angela, it’s Ricinus, I’ve got another video on growing them 😃
Thank you so much

Hi Justin, unfortunately I haven’t tried either so I’m probably not the best person to help! I do like Setaria Palmifolia though, it’s a lovely plant.
I gotta say that there are so many seed scams out there. u gotta be careful when buying. I've fallen for some seed scams in the past.
That’s true, I generally stick to established or tried and tested sellers these days. EBay is especially bad for scams and fake plant photos!
