For the finger to have been fossilized, I bet she was millions of years old. It upsets longstanding archaeology professors if "forbidden" evidence like that comes to light. 🙃
@@shellchenonceau6987 Remains as young as 10,000 years old are considered fossils whether or not it is completely replaced with rock. Petrification can happen as soon as 5,000 years in the right conditions but technically won't be considered a fossil until 10,000.

My friends house actually has those plates on his walls. all down his hallway some in his living room floor. around his fire place all in his bathroom. and all on the backsplash of his kitchen. it's beautiful and they're real and I'm so jealous fish every where..

I remember finding Sticklebacks fossils at Hazan, Nevada about 40 miles from Reno. I got some nice aquatic plants also but no leaves and nothing like this stuff, great.

I love fossils, I would love to find a fish or two. I have found a few leaves but none are perfect - I still display them though :) Your fossil areas are amazing - and so are the fossils you found.
Just found this channel and it looks absolutely awesome. Love your style and the incredibly specimens you guys find. Let me know if you are ever in NC, I know a spot where we can find a few hundred shark teeth (sandbar tigers, bull, lemon, white, mako, snaggletooth, and sometimes meg or ang) in a few hours of digging and sifting. I was at a dig in Canada that was under Uppsala university and we were low budget. We used silverware knives and rubber mallets to split strata. My favorite part was the sound. You’d hear dink… dink… dink,,,, then a duuuh… and this hollow sound would indicate the split. Then you got to see if you found something… Good times…. Good times…
You don’t realize just how fragile that shale is until you pick it up pretty incredible you guys can keep it from cracking I have only handled relatively small pieces and always feel like it’s about to shatter
We would go to the local quarry that Sir David Attenborough 1st got his love for the world we live in. He use to go there as a child just the same as we did. I did not know he was from around were I was born, but I seen one of his interviews and he talked about it. Can I ask what you do with all the things that you find? Do you work for a museum and do these things go on display?
I do not work for a museum but a large part of my collection is on display at various museums. Loved hearing your story and hope to see you around in future videos!
I'm a avid angler and would love to have any kind of fossilized fish in my collection, I find plenty of teeth and verts in my area but would be awesome to go somewhere I can get a full fish.

I currently live in western north carolina & am curious(?) to know if 1.)what could be found if any in the river beds, 2.) where exactly would i look. Tell us their story please so we can get a picture of how they got here , what was it like in the quarry area millions of years ago. I want a picture of the past to think about. When you find sharks teeth in a tiny river bed inland , I want to know how in the world there were once sharks here. You even found a whale spine once ! How has the area changed ? What was once there ? This is fascinating !
Really hard work fellas --however the fossils impressions you get so excited about --are very faint and hard to see ! -Extinct bass and herring in Wyoming are fascinating --but hopefully you will find a clear cast fossil fish impression so we can see the results of your sweat!
OK-- now I see the final result -after exhaustive prepping --nice work --now I can clearly see the fish fossil ---at the end of the vid ---staining with what chemical ? All the bones are now visible --thankyou !(I live in Africa )

I would love to go fossil hunting back where I grew up. The flinthills of Kansas.
Probably the Kem-Kem beds. I have a thooth from there. I will never, but thats what id choose.
I like to fossil hunt at the beach because there are creeks and we always make smal creeks to flush the sand of the pyrite amonites.

Like I said Glen Rose, TX. They have good finds there. We have a duck billed dinosaur and very visible footprints in the river bed.

Great video, guys! I collected in that general area in 1966 on my way to Utah for my geology field camp. You can see that I'm an old timer in fossils.

The bones are still covered in a thin layer of rock. Many hours of carefully removing it will reveal fantastic fossils.
