Amazing how you can get - down that slope at such speed - excellent running. Way outside my capabilities- presently or ever !@ well done Gary - an inspiration
Oh it would have been amazing to see you in the Eco Challenge. Sad to hear it was cancelled (but I wasn't that impressed with TV broadcast the last season...seemed they were going for more of the survivor feel on the broadcast and less of focusing on the race itself, I miss the Discover Channel days of the broadcast). Keep up the great work Gary!
Speaking of adventure racing, AR World Series has a Canadian race this year, Expedition Canada (demonstration race, 1st year). Hopefully this will become an ongoing event!
Nicely run... that upper part as you enter the trees is way steeper than it appears in wide angle. I wish you all the best in planets aligning and training for the next Barkley. Maybe I will see you on the trails somewhere this summer. Be safe.
Wow, that's brilliant news re: the adventure team! I would love to hear of/see the 4 of you compete in something; it would be awesome! And an interesting full circle to when you did multi-sport pre-ultra running (would be fascinating if you get the chance with this new team to hear how age/experience/maturity affects your views/decisions vs. previous multi-sport races). I don't know what will be next for your Gary, but whatever it is, I look forward to it and wish you the best with it!
Hi Gary, it has been a difficult year for all of us. I was to run NYC last year and have gotten into Chicago this year but not holding my breath. You will just be that much stronger next year and crush it. From one fellow Canadian 🇨🇦. runner 🏃♂️ to another keep going !!! I just subscribed to your channel
Such an interesting way of filming, mate. Really great. How was your sound so clear? Were you also wearing a mic or was it just the camera you were using for filming? It’s so crispy clear 👌🏼 lovely stuff all round 👍🏻
I'm deep in the smoldering rectum of Cambodia right now during the hottest 4 weeks of the year watching this guy casually running down an icy, snowy, steep mountain ridge and telling stories. I grew up in a logging camp and I've done lots of high-altitude trekking as well as a bit fell/trail running, so I'm no stranger to the concept here; but this guy is closer to an ibex than to me in terms of physical ability. Holy smokes!
Look closely at his right hand. He's using a selfie stick with probably a GoPro. The stick has been digitally removed. You can see the digital shadows a few times.
Hes using a 360° camera. Where the selfie stick goes in to the camera is hidden in the "stitch line" the shadow you can see is the stitch line creating lense flair when it catches the light. They're a great way to capture shots like this alone as you film everything then reframe it afterwards.
@@GaryRobbins Thank you for the reply, I was so amazed at the quality of the camerawork. While I've got you, please accept my sincere thanks for all of your content and efforts. As a stay home Dad, I've found that rowing and running are helping me to keep up my energy and discipline in order to be the best dad I can be...your videos are a go-to for my hours on the rower, and an inspiration to get out on the trails even when I'm a bit tired from my other duties. For what it's worth, your work is valuable and meaningful in many ways. Thanks again!
Confort leads to a sedentary lifestyle, sometimes feeling the real world on the legs is nice...guess the main reason though is that he wanted to wear shorts
I don't think I want to support the Barkley Marathon after they Canceled one small independent RUclipsr. They got RUclips to pull his video because they said he was showing the course which several other youtubers have done. I closing the Ginger Runner who we all love, also yourself and Netflix. Doesn't make any sense to me. That's just not the way Runners and Endurance athletes treat each other. Please petition for them to apologize to him and ask RUclips to put his video back up. Thank you.
Because he can still report on the race to some extent just doesn’t know/care about every fine detail...... Margaret go put your feet up you’re taking life way too seriously darl
I have never wanted someone to win a race more than Gary winning/finishing The Barkley. I will be rooting for you next year! You got this

Thanks for the thoughts and updates Gary!
That’s great to hear you’re going to try and be back at Barkley next year!! Big fan and keep going!
want to see you run in the 22 barkleys. started following you after watching where dreams go to die... 🤩

Listening to the entire add just to watch you glide down that snow trail... masterful
I feel like you should call these “Downhill Diaries” hahaha since most of these updates come while you’re running downhill 😂
Wow... That mountain scenery is so beautiful. Paradise
I really hope you conquer the Barkley! Best of luck! God bless!

Phenomenal filming and running!

Gary Robbins: The only guy to do an advert read whilst running down a mountain
Fascinating insights Gary. Thanks for sharing. 👍🏼🙌🏼
Picked a good year to miss. Good luck next time around :)
After ten minutes, I realized I'm breathing faster. :D
Love the Canadian scenery, we’ve lost our snow in Michigan. I’ll have to try the spikes this winter.

you are the best Gary!!! damn i wish I can do the Squamish 50 again this year !!! I will see you again in the futur, keep up the good work !
Thanks for the update!!! Fingers cross for next year!!! 👍
Smoooooooth way to tie in staying on your feet.
hahaha, not bad right :)
Thanks again love this segment! 👍
Will you be participating in the next Barkley Gary?

Whoa Gary - those sketchy downhill bits gave me motion sickness!
Seemed quite hard packed for most of that. I was jogging in snow yesterday and it was so damn wet.
Awesome running my bro🍺
How did you shoot this video, very impressive
Insta360 go
Amazing @gary robbins truly amazing!
Cool! Nice video. ✌️
your story is amazing!
Whats up with your right arm? And how are you recording?
Ty
Hey, nice video :D What selfie stick are you using to make the camera hold so smooth? Thank you
Does your lower leg hurt from running that long? My tibialis anterior gives up on me after 20 minutes run lol
Imagine having the lung capacity to talk constantly during that whole run.
It's definitely handy.
Insane😩😩😩
Are you controlling a drone for this vid?

Cool. Thanks people!
Anyone know how he’s recording himself like that? What equipment is that?
Does adventure racing actually still exist?
I think I was more worried watching him run down in that snow than he was running it 😅
What kinda shoes you wearing?
What trail is that at the beginning?
off topic question, are the marks on the trees you're passing trail markers?
Yep
Beast
I'm so confused about how the camera was on you. Is that a drone?
Selfie-stick that's been digitally removed.
What camera is it, Gary?
I can't grasp how this was shot? Drone? Trained Eagle? Aliens?
😂 it's a 360 cam where the selfie stick disappears in the edit. Insta360 OneX2 is the brand

That is so very much appreciated! Thank you and Happy Canadian Thanksgiving 😊
Why someone flying out of your back above
I’m trying hard to think of a reason wearing shorts instead of tights/pants under those circumstances and I can’t find one
Confort leads to a sedentary lifestyle, sometimes feeling the real world on the legs is nice...guess the main reason though is that he wanted to wear shorts
Have you ever ran barefoot or with barefoot shoes?
Anybody knows what software is used to edit out the selfie stick from this video?
OK, looks like it is proprietary to the camera used in this case.
Please go back 2022
Difficult watching this after today’s news 😢
I really look forward to the videos but that fisheye lens really takes away from it. It would be so much nicer without
pretty much next to zero content

Dude, disable the ads man. Gimme a break
"I don't have any super in depth post race analysis"... then why entitle your video "Barkley Marathons Post Race Analysis"??? click bait? weak
