Love your work Dave, incredible, inspiring, patience it teaches us and maybe to surrender and flow with the forces of the universe? Thank you for sharing xx Much Gratitude, Wifey n I ;))
I love it. Question about your impulse mechanism... how does the pin on the back wheel clear the "ramped" portion of the mechanism. Seems like it would hit. Can you post another video showing the mechanism working?
Beautiful. I'm also planning to make a kinetic sculpture. I'm very curious about your progress Do you have a special technique to mount your ball bearings?
Sure. I am making this one from 1/2" plywood from Home Depot. I'll probably make another using Baltic Birch. I double the thickness anywhere there is an axle and I've doubled it a few other places for balance reasons. I used 3/8" aluminum rods for the main axle on the wheels and the weight pulley. I used 1/4" aluminum rods for connecting the bird to the smaller wheel, and the smaller wheel to the larger wheel.
Hoi David, after a while I finaly started with drawing. Can you tell met what 's the outside diameter of the pal mechanism, the diameters where the rope runs over, the wide en height of the birth, the front wheel en back wheel and the two diametes from the wheels of the weight mechanisme. So i have an idea of the ratios. How you became the shape of the pal? thanks
A teacher who teaches without expecting anything in return is the noblest... And you Sir, are the noblest!

Excellent piece of art-work!!!
Will you share plans???
Keep going.👍
Thank you for showing this .
Looks great to me
Amazing work, I assume having 4 pawls instead of 2 would be smoother and make the weight travel last longer?
I love it, thanx for showing your work
great job. how long is this running for in its current state?
You are great.
👍Super👍

I've posted another video with an attempt to explain how the mechanism works. Let me know if you have questions.
Good luck.
How do I get plans for this

Thank you. No special technique for the bearings. I use a Forstner bit to drill a hole to match the bearing. I use e-clips to hold them in place.
Will you give some information about the thickness of the material, the axes or rods etc.

Can i have the mechanism details????
