I Love the bagpipes. I don't know why but there is hardly an instrument that touches me so deeply in my heart as the bagpipe. It regularly brings tears to my eyes
The somber drone reaches my soul. I know what you mean. I absolutely love the bagpipes. Hearing people play them in Scotland was an amazing memory I’ll hold forever.
@@mtgdustin When I visited Scotland there was a street performer playing the bagpipes on the streets and it made me start to tear up after two minutes. Mighty powerful instrument.
My wife's Dad was an opera singer and made a few recording of himself singing. We play them at family weddings, now that he is dead. Too bad you didn't have a recording of him. Gone for eternity.
@@Songbirdoflove My father always wished that, too. OTOH, remember that every European culture played bagpipes: Greeks, Etruscans, Basques, Estonians, &c. They also all wove plaids and wore them as long tartans.
Not really. Look, I am Scottish who lived in London. Scotland is lucky to get half the tourists London get. The amount of people that visit London is insane.
Love Scotland I class it as my second home even if I am English, my son lives there and I have a Beautiful Scottish Grandaughter. I love the country and the people and go there many times each year. Thanks for this video.
Magnificent! That really was fantastic. Stunning scenery. My little Westie is named Skye ( after the aIsle of Skye) I’d love to visit here. Thank you for posting this 🏴
Can someone please tell me why this song, and the sound of bagpipes in general, makes me cry like a baby? Is it the part of me that has Scottish ancestry?
Visitei a Escócia recentemente ! E em Endimburgo tive o privilégio de ver um casamento Escocês ao som deste magnífico instrumento. Parabéns pela demonstração.
My little Westie is named Duncan, but did want to name him Skye. Did want to name my little Westie, Skye but named her Celtie. Duncan is now 15, and if I ever get another, she'll be Skye. When this song and dancing around the stones on Outlander TV show - Duncan would stand by rhe TV screen and be mesmerized by not only the dancing, but by this song also. I know in his genetic memory he remembered his Scottish roots (my great-grandparents were Scottish). I know he remembered this!
Heard this bag pipe song. As a line piper play this. As they carried the casket of a friend been take out of the church. I cry. For he was a Good Friend.
Thank you for that! Brings tears to the eyes.....my first gig as a drummer was the Royal Hotel ...Dysart Kirkcaldy....back in the 70's.......organ and drums......but nowadays......here in the Western Cape....as a one man band....I "Pipe"?...the Bride in with my saxophone!!!....not the same though Bru!!!!!! Beautiful...dankie meneer !!!!!!!!!
Song of very ancient date, "Speed Bonnie Boat"- first written as Piobaereachd, as here performed... original lyrics were on the Ash Tree, Edhach; written by a male Avatar- of the god Viras (he wrote also Flowers Of The Forest, litany of fathomless mourning); not of the Golden Aeon preceding, but of the Platinum Aeon just preceding that... Extremely good for Rezefede... Qailyech Goeff Broghech....
Lets all take a moment to remember those brave people who fought and fell on culloden 🏴🌹

I agree they are beautiful
@@mtgdustin I think that perhaps the blood of our ancestors is calling out. The bagpipes were widespread. I can't imagine it any other way
I hear you, they reach my soul also

The bagpipe drones are such an amazing invention. While the melody is played the drones provide a harmony.
My sister walked down the aisle to this at her wedding, and I'll be doing the same. It's a beautiful song.
my wife actually did
Heard this song while watching the Queens funeral blew me away
Same was so epic...
I live on the Isle of Skye and this tune still gives me goosebumps
That was Sleep dearie sleep, not Skye boat song
Speed Bonnie boat like a bird on the wing,
Onward the sailors cry...
Carry the lad that's born to be king
Over the sea to Skye.
PhebusdesTours aye lass and that Bonnie boat will sail on forever more because Bonnie prince Charlie left us

I wish my youngest could have heard my father play his bagpipes.
Maybe your youngest will, if you pick them up and learn them. ;-)

Love this my younger brother when he passed his coffin was marched out with a lone piper
Antelope island. How on earth did you play this while constantly breathing in that air. You sir deserve an award. Also, beautiful.
I used to sing to my son every night when he was a baby, I’m Scottish but live in England I wanted him to remember he has a foot in both Countries.
Oh, the wind blows,
Loud the waves roar,
Thunder claps rend the air.
Baffled, our foes
Stand by the shore;
*Follow they will not dare.*
This played outside my wedding before I walked into the church.
Absolutely brilliant! This IS Scotland. Fabulous.
