Playing either game as a sim is up to the user. neither one has the upper hand when it comes to simulating the NBA. As far as I'm concerned, using simulation as a key category is ridiculous.
+Envyerz There are sliders made precisely for that point. There is no reason you should ridicule a game for something that is fixed with pressing triangle and then picking out an uploaded slider set.
Have to say, love just picking up and playing NBA Live 16. The online play is smooth and a lot of fun too. With Live, don't need to spend hours tweaking sliders. Just turn it on, and play.
I got 2K on my PC and it looks absolutely beautiful. The colors are vibrant which I really like, the courts look really realistic and the sound and commentary is amazing. One thing I noticed was that the background graphics such as a look out the window in MyCareer gym I can see that not a lot of detail was put into the outside world. I still love the game though, and the players look really realistic, the beads of sweat really look real and so do the tattoos.
I am not a basketball fan at all but i saw these 2 games at my friend's house and the only thing i can say is that 2K16 is much better than NBA LIVE 2016 and it looks and plays like a real basketball game. As a football fan it reminds me how shit is FIFA16 in comparing to PES 2016. NBA LIVE 2016= FIFA 16 =CRAP! 2K16 = PES 2016 = GREAT!

I know this is like 5 years late but like Live literally has ESPN presentation. And that is also part of the graphics with how the courts look, the lighting effects, and the halftime show where it's basically like a SportCenter type thing. Though the whole Ernie, Shaq, and Kenny thing is great, mainly only good as the intro to a matchup versus the halftime portion.

While I appreciate how critical you were about Live, I think you let 2K off the hook. The gameplay in 2K15 was horrible and if 2K16 is anything like it then this review dropped the ball. The defense in 2K, the passing, and the slow response of player to commands makes the game considerably less enjoyable. Players in 2K move like they are in quicksand. Having said all that, I still like 2K. I just don't feel like VC should be let off the hook for making games with horrible gameplay and control.

Charles Barkley WILL NOT sign a contract to permit his likeness to be used in the game. Damn shame, because he is soooo entertaining, especially with him and Shaq going back and forth. Oh well, that's life in the "green" lane.
I do like in either GM mode or my league mode is that even during mid season if there's a trade is real life you can easily make the trades happen in each mode by either turning on force trade or turn off Financial. Makes is so you don't lose cap. That's awesome

why is it that 2k expects you to already know how to play the game? being a newcomer it lacked in providing tutorials for basic skills and advanced though live had a bunch of tutorials to play and practice through not just showing videos and it really helped me get into the game to compete against pros. i hope 2K provides more in this area in 17
the only things I liked more in LIVE than 2K were the crowds (they look amazingly realistic and create a great atmosphere, I mean really really sounds and looks amazing to me), game modes, and the customization for your myplayer (people have asked for years for the simplest things like changing sock lengths and being able to have the same hair styles and accessories that are already in the game on other players. example is the compression pants many players wear, they can't be worn by your myplayer but can be put onto created players in edited rosters so why can't you equip them in mycareer?).
Louis Izrich, Jason Kidd on the cover, however really the one with Vince Carter on the cover when freestyle first came out, then 09 with freestyle superstar mode, and the dunk competition. From the start NBA LIVE was always the gameplay once you learn how to play it, yes sometimes you have to read or watch the tutorial video it's not just a game it's LIVE. Then again if the game was affecting social economics changing everything for the masses is cool. So they made an easy play arcade game 2k.
What I think both are good and bad it depends on what you like I had played 2k16 it was a good game I just started playing nba live 16 and its not that bad is up to the players which u prefer 2k or live nba
nba live has stepped up in recent years and live 16 just showed how big the improvements are over last years live. even though ea isnt on the same level as 2k yet, its closer then ever before with live 16 and thats saying alot compared to where live was a couple years ago.
I gotta admit. 2k16 seems very solid this year...considering how 2k12-15 were. find MyTeam is fun for a change, and MyCareer a lot more vast. The Pro-Am & MyPark are great, although what's in the park can be a bitch when you start. But most importantly I feel like when I win, it won, when I lose (which is rarely ;) ) I feel like I got beat. That's wasn't the case with 2k14 & 15 especially! I like the new post game, it's a little hard to get each and every move but if you know your player you can definitely take advantage on the block with a good big. 2k16 gets my vote for sure, big jump for 2K and I can't stress enough the advantage of getting more control in nearly every aspect (as opposed to where everything is just a series of 2 second animations)

One thing I've always hated with 2k is that you have to use VC to get equipment like headbands. In Live you can just plop them on your player. The equipment doesn't mean anything and doesn't affect anything. Why make me use the same shit that I have to use to upgrade my player to buy equipment to toss on my player. It's ridiculous.
2k16 made jump shooting ridiculously difficult, like I get it trying to be more realistic, but sports games are played so you can have fun, not imitate real life to the fullest. People are starting to hate FIFA because its becoming harder and harder to score, leading to duller games. The whole point of buying a football game is to score goals and have fun. Likewise with NBA shooting being nerfed a little in 2k16 really put me off the game for a while. Also 2k removed so many fun features from 2k15. Like playing custom 1on1s or 3on3s with teams like the historic bulls 1995-96 and the 1999-00 lakers.

I have both games and I honestly think 2K us a better choice. It may be pricier and what have you, but it is worth it! I know all those people are gonna say, "2K is bad, the MyCareer sucks, etc." But if you actually get into the game modes and the rosters and see all the options that you have, then you will realize that 2K is better.
2k16 graphics are way better then most games. When you zoom into a player you can see the individual sweats!! The facial expressions ETC. this game is the best game we have rn. Maybe your playing it on an Xbox one. It's a great game overall and the best out right now. Nothing can beat it.
I played both NBA 2K17 and NBA Live 16 today and Live graphically definitely looks better. I would say the commentary in NBA 2K17 is better. It just had a more natural flow and is less repetitive. I like the soundtracks of both with Live maybe edging out 2K17.
I've played live and 2k and I think that live WOULD be better if it had more game modes like they could use the 2k blacktop idea and kinda make it a game mode in there game. Live's graphics are more advanced than 2k (face graphics)

why is it that 2k expects you to already know how to play the game? being a newcomer it lacked in providing tutorials for basic skills and advanced though live had a bunch of tutorials to play and practice through not just showing videos and it really helped me get into the game to compete against pros. i hope 2K provides more in this area in 17

the only things I liked more in LIVE than 2K were the crowds (they look amazingly realistic and create a great atmosphere, I mean really really sounds and looks amazing to me), game modes, and the customization for your myplayer (people have asked for years for the simplest things like changing sock lengths and being able to have the same hair styles and accessories that are already in the game on other players. example is the compression pants many players wear, they can't be worn by your myplayer but can be put onto created players in edited rosters so why can't you equip them in mycareer?).
I don't know why, but I kind of like Nba Live 16 better than Nba 2k16. Anyone else?

Louis Izrich, Jason Kidd on the cover, however really the one with Vince Carter on the cover when freestyle first came out, then 09 with freestyle superstar mode, and the dunk competition. From the start NBA LIVE was always the gameplay once you learn how to play it, yes sometimes you have to read or watch the tutorial video it's not just a game it's LIVE. Then again if the game was affecting social economics changing everything for the masses is cool. So they made an easy play arcade game 2k.

What I think both are good and bad it depends on what you like I had played 2k16 it was a good game I just started playing nba live 16 and its not that bad is up to the players which u prefer 2k or live nba
nba live has stepped up in recent years and live 16 just showed how big the improvements are over last years live. even though ea isnt on the same level as 2k yet, its closer then ever before with live 16 and thats saying alot compared to where live was a couple years ago.
What about the accuracy of the stadiums or how realistic the crowd looks or sounds?

I gotta admit. 2k16 seems very solid this year...considering how 2k12-15 were. find MyTeam is fun for a change, and MyCareer a lot more vast. The Pro-Am & MyPark are great, although what's in the park can be a bitch when you start. But most importantly I feel like when I win, it won, when I lose (which is rarely ;) ) I feel like I got beat. That's wasn't the case with 2k14 & 15 especially! I like the new post game, it's a little hard to get each and every move but if you know your player you can definitely take advantage on the block with a good big.
2k16 gets my vote for sure, big jump for 2K and I can't stress enough the advantage of getting more control in nearly every aspect (as opposed to where everything is just a series of 2 second animations)

To me 2k is better mainly because it gets me hype because it feels like im in there like how when you destroy a team in their home court the building is nearly empty. One thing about live i like is the face scan it looks nice
One thing I've always hated with 2k is that you have to use VC to get equipment like headbands. In Live you can just plop them on your player. The equipment doesn't mean anything and doesn't affect anything. Why make me use the same shit that I have to use to upgrade my player to buy equipment to toss on my player. It's ridiculous.
2k16 made jump shooting ridiculously difficult, like I get it trying to be more realistic, but sports games are played so you can have fun, not imitate real life to the fullest. People are starting to hate FIFA because its becoming harder and harder to score, leading to duller games. The whole point of buying a football game is to score goals and have fun. Likewise with NBA shooting being nerfed a little in 2k16 really put me off the game for a while. Also 2k removed so many fun features from 2k15. Like playing custom 1on1s or 3on3s with teams like the historic bulls 1995-96 and the 1999-00 lakers.
Actually that's exactly what licenced sports game are made for. To simulate real life as much as possible.

I have both games and I honestly think 2K us a better choice. It may be pricier and what have you, but it is worth it! I know all those people are gonna say, "2K is bad, the MyCareer sucks, etc." But if you actually get into the game modes and the rosters and see all the options that you have, then you will realize that 2K is better.

2k16 graphics are way better then most games. When you zoom into a player you can see the individual sweats!! The facial expressions ETC. this game is the best game we have rn. Maybe your playing it on an Xbox one. It's a great game overall and the best out right now. Nothing can beat it.
I played both NBA 2K17 and NBA Live 16 today and Live graphically definitely looks better. I would say the commentary in NBA 2K17 is better. It just had a more natural flow and is less repetitive. I like the soundtracks of both with Live maybe edging out 2K17.

I've played live and 2k and I think that live WOULD be better if it had more game modes like they could use the 2k blacktop idea and kinda make it a game mode in there game. Live's graphics are more advanced than 2k (face graphics)
