I have a 2023 Mini SE. Absolutely love it. I don’t get range anxiety on longer trips. I plan my charging plan before leaving and work around morning-midday- afternoon breaks.

2 months with mine. Worth every dime. Yes, more range for a longer trip would be nice. But it’s all BMW, and it feels like it. ❤

Love my Countryman S E Sport L3 here in Scotland - I’m not sure about some of the colour options - black with a red roof and red with a white roof don’t work for me with the silly “deer stalker ear flaps” over the C pillar/ rear windows. Mine is Smokey Green with a black roof. Mine replaced a 2022 Cooper S E hatch. Yes the rear seat is reclinable by pulling up the fabric pull down by the seat squab at the door - there’s not much adjustment though, church bench or slight recline that’s it. I also have all the fake noises turned off and the car is all the better for it as it’s a very quiet EV. Regen can be “coasting/ no regen”, low, medium, high or auto. Auto is best as it varies the regen according to the road type.
My only gripe with mine is the arcs for setting the cabin temperature on the screen are difficult to hit accurately when you are on the move, they do expand once your finger has found them without taking your eyes off the road but that’s the problem. The seats are wonderfully comfortable too.

You made some good points Roman. For me the differentiator for electric cars is. Range, charging speed, ease of charging, safety, good use of space, performance… that is why I own a 2023 Model Y long range. In my opinion, there is a reason Tesla out sells all others by a significant margin… The integrated charging network makes all the difference on a road trip. I have owned it for about a year and a half and have put 34,000 miles.. excellent on road trips and zero issues with the car.

I would say I can't stand the Tesla's "minimalist" interior, but the Mini is in the same boat.

Tesla only outsellss other in North America, where others just recently started actually trying. In Europe and China, they are far behind others.
Tesla does not lead in any of the criteria you mentioned, except maybe ease of charging. Especially safety. The Model Y has the highest fatalities per 100k miles driven of any car in its class.

It's nice for $27k, not for $47k. The main issue will be price as it doesn't begin to provide enough range, speed, experience to justify that msrp.

There's a lack of range a lack of speed and a lack of quality, it's super plastic on the inside.

I think most people who don't venture too far, can charge at home and can afford the car then it's a no brainer. Electric cars are convenient.

I've been cross country numerous times in EVs, both in our Chevy Bolt, and our Hyundai Ioniq 5. They road trip just fine, especially the eGMP cars from Hyundai/KIA. You just have to come to terms with the fact that EV travel is different than ICE vehicle travel. Maybe you might not want to drive 80 - 90 mph on the interstates. Slower can and usually is faster in an EV since you spend less time overall at charging stations. You also are better off to preplan your trip to avoid unreliable infrastructure. This will be a thing for a few years until it gets expanded more and reliability better addressed. EA has been making huge strides in the latter. Adding the Tesla network for V3 and newer stations only serves to better fill out the infrastructure.

For me courrently it is still the issue of Price.. and charging location. Though with the Countryman, it is also the Range. Of the EVs coming out in the next few years I am more interested in the Scout range extender

17:49 EV or no, I think if somebody's shopping this class of vehicle, where there's already disengagement due to the higher ride height and greater suspension travel and bigger mass, the mini's probably going to be more fun and rewarding to drive. Is an HR-V really engaging? Is a Jeep Renegade really more fun with its "legendary" 1.3L gas engine? Maybe a CX-30 turbo, but otherwise post tax credit you have to spend a lot in this class to get more performance, and it's usually just horsepower. Does a Volvo xc30 really scream "engaging"?
The real answer is the regular Mini 2door SE
