But this is still a BEAUTY pageant and she does not embody all aspect of a winner- beauty, brain, and talent. It's not her size but that for such a young person, it's not healthy to be overweight already. She doesn't have to be skinny, but she can be healthy and fit. Look at the main stream beauty pageants, all the contestants work out, Lilly too should work out. I do give her much prop for everything she did for this pageant and I am truly not hating on her.

We work non-stop and sometimes even on weekends just to pay our bills like mortgage, utilities, car, tuition, etc. The month you can't pay your mortgage, you could be living on the street. Yes, unlike Laos, our government help us such as welfare but once you fall into this category, your condition won't be much better than those in Laos. Laos, on the other hand, they work for only a few months out of the year. They plant their rice, wait a few months, go pull out the weeds, wait another few months, harvest, then have their new year then repeat. If they work as much and as hard as we do, they wouldn't be so poor. There are both poor and rich people in Laos just as there are here in America. But the rich people in Laos are richer than many of us here. They have acres of land, house, car, cattle... and it's 100 percent theirs. They have no lien on it. It's all paid for. Very few here in the U.S. that have all these and it's all paid for. I see a lot of old Hmong American showing off their new vehicles on tojsiab as if it's theirs. It's the bank's. It isn't theirs until it's paid for. As for the poor Hmong Lao, they are poor because there aren't many opportunities in Laos. Some Hmong Lao would grab any opportunity that comes their way but some won't. There are jobs in the fields such as planting banana trees, cassava trees, rubber trees, etc but some Hmong Lao don't like working in the hot sun, especially the young generation. They would rather chat on facebook or whatsapp or talk on the phone with their foreign boyfriend or girlfriend and get their money that way. Like I once said to this one Hmong Lao... I think you Hmong Lao are born with a cellphone in your hand. Yes, most of the young people there like 12 and up have cellphones. The phones may not be as good or as expensive as ours but they are phones. Don't believe them when they say they don't have a phone. They have phones but they know you will buy them a new, much better phone if they don't already have one. This one time I asked a girl if she has a phone and she said no. Then a minute later, her phone rang. She was caught in a lie and embarrassed herself.
+B Vang Also, as more and more Hmong American send money to Laos to help them, it is causing an inflation over there. You would think that things are cheap there. No, they are not cheap. Not anymore. Take meat for example. It costs more there than here in the U.S. I believe this is caused by Hmong American. 10s of thousands of dollars fly to Laos every day. With this money, the Hmong Lao are able to build better houses, buy land, and better food. I acknowledge there are things there that are cheaper compare to the U.S. but let's do a couple of comparisons in the meat area. Beef is $4.54 a pound in Laos. In the U.S, it's $3.90 a pound. In Laos, chicken is $1.98 a pound. Here in the U.S, I can get a 10 pound bag of chicken leg quarters for $4.99 or 50 cents a pound. If the vendors sell beef for $4.54 a pound and people still buys it, of course they will sell it for $4.54 a pound. That's almost a whole day's work for many of them. And 1 pound isn't going to be enough to feed their whole family for 1 day (3 meals).

Speech well said almost perfect. However it's one thing to talk the talk and not walk the walk. Most of these pageant winners ends up not doing anything for the Hmong community anyways.
