      @gamesh0w4life69can you not hear the difference? That tiny change is why people don’t notice he’s Clark, vs Superman. Maybe if you didn’t see the originals it’s harder to see what he’s doing.

  • @imisaiah06
    @imisaiah06 9 months ago +748

    Probably my favorite moment from the trailer is in the beginning when he’s being interviewed by Lois. He’s sitting in a chair slouching and then immediately sits up to fix his posture. His voice even gets a little deeper when he says “Miss Lane”. That is him going from Clark to Superman in real time.

    • @r-171
      @r-171 9 months ago +65

      Mhm. I think this will definitely show why it’s hard for so many people to recognise him, because it was never *just* the glasses, it’s his entire demeanour, posture, voice, mannerisms, etc.
      He’s exactly like one of those actors you have a hard time distinguishing from the character they play.

    • @imisaiah06
      @imisaiah06 9 months ago +33

      @r-171 one of the biggest complaints I had with Henry Cavill’s Clark Kent was that he was literally just Superman with glasses on. Like you could tell he was Superman. And this everything is different about him. The hair, the glasses, the mannerisms, the way he acts. There’s a big difference between the way David plays both Clark and Superman

      It makes my blood boil in that one scene from Man of Steel, when the general asks "How would we know one day you won't act against America's interests?" The Lois and Clark interaction was very Lois & Clark from the 90s show with Cain and Hatcher. They argued a lot about important matters and sometimes he was defensive and sometimes she was. It shows a deeper relationship than we've seen in movies so far.

    • @onacanilao
      @onacanilao 9 months ago +5

      Yes I noticed that too and am sooo happy about it! L&C really did Lois&Clark’s relationship the best imo and their dynamic as equals, lovers, partners, like a real relationship in real life is. Supermand & Lois, Smallville Clois captured some of that. I’m so glad to see a glimpse of that in this movie. Hoping for more 🙏

      mr.makeitawesome2063you’re being hyperbolic. The DCAU showed us Superman doesn’t have to be unmovable in order to be fun and interesting to see in a fight. Power level shouldn’t be the top priority for a Superman movie. His character is.

      SAME: I said YEARS ago around GOTG 1 that if I could have picked one Director to make a Superman movie it would be James Gunn. Because he GETS IT, he understands comic books. He writes the story he sees fit by understanding the core audience. BUT he can't because he is with Marvel. When I heard James Gunn was moving to DC I was beyond excited. Superman has ALWAYS been my favorite hero since the early 90s.

    I'm 58 so I grew up with Christopher Reeve as "Superman". Both this trailer and the teaser made me cry, not just because of the use of the original theme, but because this hits on the same emotional level. The feeling of hope in a world where things often feel hopeless. A truly good being fighting against all the evil ones, simply because it's the right thing to do. I can't wait to see this movie!

    God, what a trailer. Loved it. I especially loved Lois' interview with Superman... THIS is Lois Lane. She's not out to make a puff piece; she's asking the tough questions and will call you out on your shit; even if you are Superman. That conversation reminded me of the Justice League episodes where Lois & Superman would be on a date (either at a picnic, or at home), and she'd just drill Superman with questions about his and JL's ethics. And Superman defending his actions to Lois with: "People were going to DIE!" says everything we need to know about him; this Superman values human life, first and foremost. The logistics don't matter to him as long as the innocent are safe. Also, it's nice to see a Clark/Superman with a bit more personality. Very much reminded me of the animated series and especially the JL/Unlimited series, where Clark had more of a backbone and had his share of charm. That "Hey buddy. Eyes up here." was perfect. I'm seeing everything that I personally love and expect from Superman's character history, all encompassed here. I simply can't wait for this. Between this and F4, I can't wait for July!!!

      FINALLY, we get a Lois Lane with the well known Lois Lane characteristics and traits. I never understood what Singer and Snyder had against that. So relieved to finally get this kind of Lois Lane again.

      I mean, Lois, His unborn son, and the entire city of metropolis at his own hands. Frankly he can be so confident, cocky and mercifully good because he has it all- every tiny thing that he could do something about does get to him but the big things stay in his corner or quite possibly he doesn’t know what to do.
      In fact he literally does the first things he does after he loses Lois in this movie- forces a peace in a foreign country.

      @mr.l5783 Um, Kingdom Come Superman? Joker kills Lois but he didn't turn into a tyrant, instead, he isolated himself in the fortress of solitude, but came back anyways to become Superman again with the red and black S symbol. That only means IT IS possible to make a Superman movie and not turn him into a vengeful God of some sort.

    This looks like it is gonna hit every quadrant of any superhero movie I can think of... It's got something for action fans, comic fans, animal lovers, and even a little bit for the drama fans. It could be a solo watch, family movie, a date movie, and/or just a good time with friends. I think this trailer rocks.

      @anthonychang1426 9 months ago +4

      I'm so happy that Superhero films are getting out of the literal shadows of the early 2000s. X-Men and the Nolan-trilogy really placed unnecessary embarrassment onto adapting these wild comic book characters.

    • @SnoeManProductions
      @SnoeManProductions 9 months ago +2

      @ I agree, the only X-men film that had a lot of daylight was DoFP which also has a stadium scene 😂 I bet they’re easy locations to shoot at

    • @deimos.93
      @deimos.93 8 months ago

      My only nitpick is that having the big fights in the daytime kind of makes the CGI look a bit strange. It doesn't look bad at all, but I am so used to these major fights being at night time so it just looks strange seeing people flying and big ass monsters in the middle of the afternoon LMAO

    • @deimos.93
      @deimos.93 8 months ago +1

      @anthonychang1426 I agree. I love Nolan's films but they were very influential in mostly the wrong way. We got more superhero movies because of it (and Iron Man), but too many people tried to copy the tone of the movie and slap it onto other characters where it didn't really fit. Man of Steel is a good example. I love that movie with Nolan's story and Snyder's directing, but the dark, brooding tone just doesn't scream Superman to me. I was never a big fan of Superman's character even though I liked Cavill and wanted him to get his sequels, but everything I have seen from Gunn's film has really gotten me so excited about the idea of getting a character-accurate Superman on the big screen. In a world where being kind and compassionate gets you laughed at, it is nice seeing a major blockbuster that isn't shying away from it and showing Superman as he was meant to be. He isn't some representation of America, as certain political people like to say, nor is he meant to be some god that doesn't care about humans, like Homelander. Superman is meant to be someone who so desperately wants to live among humans and be one of us, but he can never truly do so because of his powers and responsibilities. Every action he takes is publicly scrutinized and he gets hate for simply wanting to help others.

    I guess it depends on the Superman you grew up with. I was introduced to him through "SuperFriends" on my Saturday morning cartoons, then Reeve's 78 Superman. The dark dreary version in Snyderworld was too serious and foreign to me. That works for Batman but not Superman. I'm very excited for Gunn's version. He gets it.

    • @failboy6901

      Modern Superman comics do depict him in a more serious tone than classical Superman.

    I loved Cavill as a darker superman, and I think he fit the world of the Justice League movies that was established at the time.
    But this?? This feels like a breath of fresh air, while honouring the tale of who Superman is and has been over the last several decades. I’m excited for David’s portrayal and how hopeful, and just GOOD he feels. His defensiveness and saying “People were going to die!” encapsulates his core - it doesn’t matter where he’s from, it doesn’t matter who he is, he has the power to protect people and will do so because he is the embodiment of what ‘humanity’ (as a characteristic, not just as a species) should be, despite not being human.

  • @Cooper_vlogs

  • @milkiassamuel780
    @milkiassamuel780 9 months ago +4

    I absolutely love how the movie seems to focus on Clark living in a world that deems hope and optimism obsolete. Seeing Clark pushed to the point of questioning if Superman truly matters in today's world, as he actively tries to help everyone and gets involved in wars and political ramifications, but ultimately reminded that the world needs hope, truly warms my heart.
    Everything about this movie just screams Superman, and I couldn't be happier as a Superman fan🥹😁🦸🔥🐕
    I also love the visuals and the look of The Engineer's powers, which look so cool.
    I can already tell Rachel and David's chemistry will be too cute, and Hoult is going to be an excellent Lex Luthor as he just exudes Lex's aura and the way he calls Superman as an "it" truly shows how deep his hatred goes
