Thank you so much for posting this! I'm a single lady with not a lot of car know-how, and I didn't want to ruin my car battery by doing something wrong. Your video gave all the steps so clearly and gave me confidence to know how to use this!
I got a bike over the summer and knew I would need a tender for the winter in Ohio. I had no idea how it worked or how to hook it up, so thank you so much!!!! This vid helped me so much.
Generally the negative battery terminal is connected directly to the chassis of the car or whatever it is the battery in. Follow the negative battery lead and see where it goes next time you look at your battery.
Hmmmm. As with my full size battery charger (or any battery charger) I would hook up the wiring first and plug the battery charger into the wall socket or extension cord last. No point in walking around with an energized power lead. Also you typically connect the negative lead of a charger to ground on the chassis vice connecting it directly to the negative pole of the battery. I suppose that's not such a big deal as this charger outputs such a low amperage.
Great video ... My vehicle is being stored outside, under a cover, with a 3 outlet outdoor heavy duty cord, which the block heater is also plugged into. In your video the car is inside a garage; how would you connect the actual charger outside? Could the charger sit under the hood somewhere? Or would it need to be plugged in inside the vehicle with another outdoor extension cord running to the 3 external outlets? Would appreciate your help. Thanks
Thanks I just bought one brand new from wallyworld and yet there were no instructions, warranty card or anything extra. The cables weren't even tied up like most brand new items are. Something tells me this was a return and they just threw it back in the cabinet for sale.
I'm assuming that since the unit won't create a spark, you were ok connecting the negative clamp to the battery versus grounding it to the car. Correct me if I'm wrong with my assumption.
Mine is doing this shit too. Brand new battery, and same tender in video. Filled battery with acid and let it sit for the 1hr the directions said. Plugged tender to battery and then to the outlet in garage. Got the red-green for about 30 sec and then goes to red signifying it's charging. It's not went flashing green yet(80%+ charged) yet and definitely not solid green. Battery is reading 12.8 (without tender connected) on voltage tester. I'll be damned, it's flashing green now lol. Hope this helps ya out man. Will edit when it goes solid. I was worried for a minute there lol
Since this Battery Tender does no desulfation, it's not good as this is the cause of battery failures but the light shows good. Need a BatteryMINDer with does perform desulfation which bring these batteries back.
Is there a similar device that will keep a battery charged w/o having to plug the device into a wall outlet? I don't have a garage & don't think my landlord will allow me to keep the battery charged inside my house; she will view it as a fire hazard.

Six years later this video is still helping people like me. Thanks

Dude same. Cincinnati, got a bike this year etc.. figuring out how to use this thing 😂
Thanks for making this video. It was helpful to me. I don't know why you got 30 negative reviews. THANKS
Great post, straightforward easy to follow instructions. Helped me get my battery charged. Thanks Coach.
Nice, very educational! Thank you! Now I have more confidence using this product that I just bought to store my vehicle for the winter!
It looks like the instruction manual recommends connecting the red to the red terminal, and the black to a grounding metal, not to the terminal?

Thank you for this video, so well explained from opening to installation and more simple than I expected.
This video was perfect! Exactly what I needed! Thanks for posting! I don't know anything about stuff like this so I appreciate the detail!
thanks for posting. first time using this item and the instructions i got were only in French. seemed self explanatory but wanted to be safe.
Shouldn’t the black negative be connected to the vehicle chassis?

Thanks for posting this video! Helped me a lot
Helped me quite a bit, albeit an older video. Thanks!
This video is very helpful to me. Now I feel that I could do this. Keep my fingers crossed that I would not damage my car in the process
I just bought this one and need to know how to install it on my Kia Soul when I'm away for a couple month
Great video ... My vehicle is being stored outside, under a cover, with a 3 outlet outdoor heavy duty cord, which the block heater is also plugged into.

Would appreciate your help.
Thanks
Good vid. I will most likely be buying this model tender later today. Cheers!
Is this battery Tender Junior good for charging car batteries? It seems the Junior is not 1.25 Amps output you typically use for cars. ????
What do you do with the permanent ones just set the wire in the car??
Thanks I just bought one brand new from wallyworld and yet there were no instructions, warranty card or anything extra. The cables weren't even tied up like most brand new items are. Something tells me this was a return and they just threw it back in the cabinet for sale.
Is it ok to keep it the battery tender running in a closed garage? The instruction manual said to only use in a well ventilated area
Just what I needed, thank you for this video!
Helpful video! I thought I was right in hooking it up but this helped so much! Thanks!
Do u have to plug up the charger in order to get a boost

My question too
great job!
Would you use this same process on a boat battery? Thanks
Thanks for this. Just what I needed to make sure if I needed to buy this
Mine keeps flashing red even though it appears to be a solid connection to the battery terminals.
Thanks for posting this video!
thank you i didnt know how to close the hood i kept cutting the wire
The video should have been 5 minutes long. Good information just the same but a bit too wordy. Thanks.
I think it could have been done effectively in 2.
Very informative. Thank you!
What does it mean if the battery charger Jr. is blinking from Red to Green over and over again?
Either reserved polarity to the battery or battery charger has gone over the time limit while in the battery recovery mode.

what about the Lincoln Town car??
Do I have to disconnect my battery during winter storage while using this or I can keep it connected to the car and the tender at same time?
I'd like to know as well.
Tundra, Tools, and Tech you can keep the battery still connected in the car
I keep this on my 60"cut riding mower year round! It only gives charge when battery calls for it
Fantastic product I use this year round for the past 3 years. When it goes out I'll be buying again
for battery tender junior any idea how many hours to charge a dead battery (from sitting too long) to be able to start it up?
4 amps or below battery tender wint work or if the battery is completely dead not volts
I had it charging overnight and got the car to start up which was not even cranking before. I'd say it took a good 14 hours or so.
Why are you closing the hood
Gonna take awhile to charge a car battery for sure. Only charging at 750 mA. But if you've got the time it will work.
Thanks! I appreciate the help.

Bruh that’s a beatiful Mercury
Nice job, Thank You.
Call it what you will….No sir that’s a Mercury Marauder!
Hello is this one mean don't need replace new car battery if u have this battery tenner ? need charger every day ?
Thank you for info
Just how to use this tender to replace battery without lost of all electric data would have been nice.
I just started using mine,
Love it
What is wrong when the LED is just blinking red?
My daughter just purchased brand new 12v battery.
Hooked like how you have shown.
go to minute 2:47 in the video
Mine won’t turn solid red
joscaca same. Did you figured it out?
Thanks
Can you post a link

Need to show your face!
jackeroo75 why? The video is not about his face, it's about battery tender
Do people actually watch this stuff? Can’t they just read the instructions?
-hmm- not if the rules say you have to eat the instructions first and you forgot to read them-
The instructions for this unit are not that great. This video helps.
Some learn from reading instructions, others learn by watching a demonstration.
No instruction came with my charger. It's helps to know what the LED color changes mean.
I hate alligator clips so much lol
Next time, use a personal mic. Room reverb messes up voices. Mic on camera in a hard walled space makes the video suck. Now you know.
