Thank you for uploading this! Gillian is an inspiration to all with such a compassionate heart for such causes as this as well as many other charitable organizations. Boundless love for her!
Gills accent is her own she doesnt have a strong american accent leans more towards british she will always be a child of two countrys and its not forced actors and comedians can easily pick up accents wether they try or not.
Curious that Gillian Anderson flips from her Brit accent to her American depending where she's interviewing. No other actor else does (Hugh Laurie, Idris Elba ).
+gnoam I think other people do. I tend to do it myself, but with Spanish speakers....and not all Spanish speaking people have this effect on me. only a certain dialect will trigger me to then start speaking like them and in some cases my Spanglish and Spanish words will come out. Luckily this doesn't happen often for me LOL....but back to Gillian, who is in a separate category. She is categorized as being dialectal.
Gillian Anderson is bidialectal, and Hugh & Idris are not. John Barrowman (Torchwood, Arrow) is also bidialectal, although he uses his American accent most of the time.
I disagree. Idris Elba and Hugh Laurie can most definitely pull off "American" accents, as can John Barrowman. But I reckon these actors (except for Barrowman) keep doing their accents so they don't lose it during the work. But Hugh was able to do the needed press for House in his British accent.
+gnoam Bidialectal means having a native ability to speak in two dialects of the same language due to being raised in two different places. Actors like Hugh Laurie can fake an American accent for work purposes but will only speak in one accent in regular life. Gillian actively switches depending on where she is.
gnoam look, I have been in this situation my whole life, and to be honest, I don't like it. I am from Palestine, born and raised in Qatar, but I am proud to speak in my Palestinian dialect only. And I don't respect people from my country or different countries who speak the Qatari dialect if they are not from Qatar. Gillian is free to do whatever she wants, but for myself, I don't like it. You have to be proud of your country and your roots. Just my opinion
