I love those comics. In my head, the stories from #7 through #38 are what happened between Star Wars and Empire. I was sad that it all seemed to be ignored by the later expanded universe. This was the original, it was all we had until Empire came out, and I think it’s awesome.
Very nicely done..Enjoyed watching... Star Wars #1 35cent, I’m always on the lookout for it..Alabama being my home, was one of the distribution areas of the 35 cent comic, Or so I’ve read.I’ve found a diamond shape only to learn it wasn’t the one of value..So the fun of hunting continues.
At the end of the "Cavern Of The Crawling Death" issue, #28, the orange, possibly furry, (?) and distinctly humanoid Jabba the Hutt forgives Han's debt and rescinds the giant bounty on his and Chewie's heads. As blatantly non-canon as these between movie issues were, I loved them as a kid. In fact, #28 and #29 were two of, if not THE favorite two issues of mine from that era. Wish to the moon and back that I still had them. 🙁
Some great star wars books . I just picked up the marvel movie showcase #1 over the weekend I was thinking it was a reprint of star wars #1 but it's actually books #1 #2 and #3 all in one comic book and the marvel movie showcase #2 collects #4 #5 and #6 .thanks for sharing I found this video very interesting !
To be fair, this comic series was mostly decanonized by the second wave of the expanded universe of the 90's. The novels published by Bantam and the comics by Dark Horse mostly ignored it.
But every once in awhile you'll see a theme or something from the old books that pops up in the SW Uni and you wonder if they got that from the old comics.
I always thought that cover of issue #6 was sooooo deceptive! Where was the lightsabre battle with Darth?! 12p for a UK comic... wow... by the end of the 80's they were 75p! That's a hell of a jump in ten years!
Pretty cool Star Wars comic collection 👍 I currently only have the first 6 issues 1-6, I'm thinking of buying the Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi issues only leaving out the fillers.
Jules, thanks for this video! Very informative and I love your channel. Have you seen some of the prices on eBay for a US Star Wars number 1? The highest I found was in the region of $500!
Great comics jules 👌 I wouldn't worry about what Disney regards as cannon , that's down to us I believe, personally I dont regard any of the di$ney crap to be cannon t.b.h , the audacity of them to even say that says a lot about these shitweasels , another nice collection you have there mate😁

The stories were crazy but yes, shame they'd rather be forgotten nowadays 👍
I love 7-38 and how not knowing anything they got it a lot wrong but it was so fun to read and collect
It was certainly a different era!🙂👍

Good luck with your hunt!

Fantastic, I'm sure you could track them down on eBay👍

Non problem, glad you enjoyed it. I just love these comics👍🙂
Wonderful video.
Thanks, I really like yours too!🙂
Yikes, stop manhandling those gems with your bare hands 🤣
Eh! Gotta hold em somehow!
Another great Star Wars video, thanks Jules.
Thanks!🙂
I remember reading the star wars weekly paintings before I discovered forbidden planet in London in the early 80's and could get the comics from them
They are still pretty decent reads today!

Right!

I bet they did, now and again🙂👍

Yep, darn inflation. Of course, in a lot of cases, the artists didn't have much to work from. They did their best I feel👍

Thanks, I feel the ESB and ROTJ adaptions are far better than the original film adaptation. These are in the next couple of videos.
Jules your voice kind reminds me of God Brendan Gleason
I think that's good🙂
New subscriber. Looking forward to binge watching your older videos.
Nice! Thanks Jeff🙂

That seems crazy! Part 2 this Friday. Thanks for watching🙂

Thanks Gerard, perhaps not as popular as the toys but definitely part of my vintage Star Wars story🙂
30 - 35 quid for a #1?? Have you seen the prices on ebay lately?
This was filmed a couple of years ago now, prices are crazy nowadays!
@@JulesBurt I can't believe how fast they went up!Nice video btw.
@@JulesBurt i'm thinking of buying an ungraded one, not sure it's worth it though.
Thanks, thinking of revisiting these soon 👍🙂
Well. I've not got a single comic graded but long term, in high grade, these will appreciate in value faster.
