I can't help but shed a tear for Blod. That poor young woman. I became very fond of Blod because of her strong will to survive. Edgar, Blod and Ragna are my favorite characters in this book.
So true about Wynstan! I don't recall hating any of the "villains" of the previous books to this extent, but this guy's the most greedy ruthless sociopathic asshole ever. (Reminds me of a certain contemporary politician in Central-Eastern-Europe... XD) And what I appreciated a lot that he can only blame himself for what happens to him in the end. Favourite plot twist ever in the series. Interesting to see that the author favours Ragna the most. I find Aldred the most adorable! Aldred and his various passions ;) And what I also liked that apart from a "gay monk", there are also things like "ethical polyamory", "demisexuality" and we even get a glimpse of a forming "rainbow family". Accurate or not, I simply really want to believe that such social phenomena had existed in some ways or others, even before we created terminology for them in the recent past.
2:30 bit funny then that Wynstan ended up being my favorite character! Not because of some hatred for the mains I’d like them too. While Wynstan was mean, greedy, selfish, and ruthless he was also funny and at some points, oddly endearing.

Can't wait to read this one... may I just say, I love his voice, every time I read one of his books I hear his voice telling the story...
