Thank you for helping to ease the pain from this game's undeserved rushed release. It could and should have been the first part of an epic masterpiece. I still hold hope of a remaster.
Its problem wasn't a rushed release, Core didn't manage the project properly, which resulted in a development hell and they started everything over after 1 year in development. Crystal Dynamics developed their engine and created Legend, a rather polished game, in 3 years, whereas Core couldn't even finish AOD in 4 years. The more time a studio works in a single project, the more money it costs, and Core kept asking for more and more time each time the release date was near, so after 3 or 4 delays, Eidos decided that the project wasn't profitable unless they released it, and they made their choice.
@@astrius4125 Kind of reminds me of Metal Gear Solid V, Kojima held the project for a long time and eventually Konami wanted to get some results after years of developments and Kojima's whims. The result was an unfinished game with lots of gameplay features, lots of potential, lots of cut content. I always found AoD and MGS V to have a lot in common.

But I can understand why Konami was running out of patience. Their games weren't selling like they used to, and Metal Gear was the only franchise they had left that was consistently profitable, so Kojima was given a great deal of agency, and he bit off more than they were willing to give. MGSV's development was taking forever and costing a fortune, and they needed to turn a profit, so the game was released in an incomplete state. It's not surprising that relationships soured the way they did, but unceremoniously dumping him off after finding their new pachinko machine cash cow, then using their legal leverage to prevent him from accepting an award that he rightfully earned, and striking his name from the game series he was so proud of was unbelievably petty and scummy of Konami.
People can talk bad about this game but one thing is for sure in my opinion, it has one of the best soundtracks of the franchise and the most atmospheric storytelling
You got that daaaamn right ! I sometimes find myself actually listening to the soundtrack ! This one and Anniversary probably have the best ones of the whole franchise
I am really impressed with your patch, I have to say I love the idea that you can add missing dialogue back into the game. I played this game with german language and even then every dialogue played perfectly fine I had very little issues there. Some aspects of the game like the new entrance to the club can get a little confusing for new players I even thought that my game was broken at some point. If there is one thing I would like you to add is the alternative starting area, I saw that you put a health item there instead of where the key was, so you cant pass through the door. It would be cool if we could choose our path at the beginning. But all in all I really like your approach I am so glad people like you work hard to make the game atleast a little bit more of what it was supposed to be.
Thanks for your feedback :) I am aware of the new club entrance being confusing so I will try to make it a bit more obvious that the entrance is no longer from there in the next version. As for the other route in the first level, it's not really possible to fix the missing geometry issues there at the moment so I decided to keep it unnaccessable to make sure the mod is as polished as possible. However, I may make an extra version where that route is accessible in the future :)

About the geometry issues, I know exactly what you mean, the missing walls and textures that appear as soon as you go further into the alternate area. Not too long ago about 3 weeks I saw a video from an unknown user who uploaded a 2 hour cut of the game with a prototype build for ps2. Not too much of a difference from the final product for example a few missing sounds or animations as you could expect, he pretty much just skipped levels back and forth with the cheat option but one interesting fact was that in one clip he was walking down that alternate area. But in his version it was all still there, fully textured walls and no glitching, maybe the whole area was still fully intact and even playable. Unfortunately I couldn't find the video since then I think he or someone who claims copyright took it down. We weren't meant to see this but I am glad I was in the right place at the right time. That could have helped in understanding how the unfinished walls in the alternate starting area looked like. Shame I didn't download it. I don't know but that alternate area always fascinated me, since it is kind of fully playable with lots of cut dialogue, I think it's way more interesting when lara walks on the streets of paris and not on the roofs, even tho from a logical perspective the roof makes more sense when you want to escape from the police. Anyway looking forward for future updates. Thanks for responding.

I loved the story of this game when it 1st came out on PS2 however the controls were awful. I think this was because the dev's hadn't finished the game properly. I hope that whoever is re-making this game fixes the controls and releases it on PS4.

@@cheesehyper9839 to run the game directly from TRAOD_P4.exe, you need to put it to one folder backwards from the "bin" folder and try opening from there but it should be working when you start the game from the launcher anyway. Can you confirm that any of the other changes in the exe are working?

The Vector-R35 will not look like the H&K Match in this mod. That is exclusive to Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness Definitive Edition by TRJTA. AoD Definitive Edition will be based off of this mod.
i remember having something like traodscu when i was around 5-7 yr.old, i was real afraid of clipping out of the map to the void and i clearly remember some details that were deleted, and i found some of them in your restoration.. weird, right? and i never found a test map, maybe showcase or something. it was greenish and you could test the commando crawl there too

You can revert the running speed back to normal using the patcher I released (or download the lite version of the exe)
