This is taking chronograph to the next level. Anyone who is doing serious timing will appreciate this tool watch. Looks like less than $300 right now. Way to go Certina.
These can be found new under $300USD by careful shoppers. It was made in many colorways and can be had with a nice bracelet with deployment clasp. There are also PVD black case versions. The movement is a unique ETA HAQ quartz.
@Jacob A Hello, wonderful video. I just picked up one of these as well and love it. I have a quick question for you. Does the 1/100th of a second hand have a small amount of play on your model when the hands are in the reset position? Mine does, it is very small but I can still see a bit a movement when it is at zero.
dead second immediately drops the value of the watch to $14, at this price range they should at least provide you an option between sweeping and dead seconds, also a black face must always come with an AR coating, these things would not increase the cost of production that much, and the cost could be transferred to the consumer anyway, it would instantly become the most popular watch on the market, also, solar powered wouldnt hurt
I think it’s the standard 32768 Hz quartz crystal with Precidrive watches like this one, with the accuracy coming from thermo-compensation. Normally that’s divided down to 1 Hz and fed to the stepper motor that advances the hands. I can’t see why it couldn’t be divided down to 8 or 16 Hz instead so that the stepper advances the hands 8 or 16 times a second, but it isn’t. The Bulova Precisionist watches start at 262,144 Hz and divide that down to I believe 16 Hz so their steppers advance the hands 16 times a second. I don’t know whether they’re thermo-compensated or just try for a more-accurate crystal and hope the frequency doesn’t drift much with temperature.
You make some good points. I would buy this watch if the second hand moved with a more graceful sweep. The Ar coating would be nice, but it's not a deal breaker for me.
@@markiangooley it’s the latter they use higher frequency that’s more stable than 32khz, and yeah the crystal frequency doesn’t determine sweeping it down to the motor they use

I'm interested in one right now
Do you know where's a good place online that offers this watch for under $300?
Best video I've seen of this. Beautiful watch. Does it have a screw down crown? Thanks!
Steven O'Connell no it does not. 100m WR
Très belle montre à avoir dans sa collection 😉
Merci. Je ne parle pas de Français - but I think you said I have beautiful watches :)

I like the Certina Blue Ribbon chrono diver better.
We have the same wrist, 49 or 50 lug to lug distance?
Danilo D'Aponte actually it’s 51mm
Normally I don’t like chronographs, but that’s a beauty. Too bad it’s a bit big for my 6.25 inch wrist.
I'm sure you could pull it off if you really love the watch ;) time to start working out!
It seems some people are having problems with the 2 chrono hands clipping each other sometimes. Have you had this problem?
Mike Stone hi. No I’ve never seen that issue or heard about it either.
