Hi Tim, it was a beautiful day in Paradise Beach today……so…..as a wire antenna nut I got out in the yard and made one of these. I made a coaxial trap and made the initial wire lengths to your plans. I firstly tuned the 12m section to best SWR and then tuned the top section for 18m. The antenna SWR is very good on both bands. Tuning the top section for 18m has very little interaction with the lower 12m section. I always enjoy your antenna videos…73 Daryl VK3AWA

I haven't done anything with traps before, but I'm really intrigued by them recently.

Hi Tim. Have to say find the channel inspiring! You are doing a lot that would motivate people to just try things. Had a contest this weekend but still managed to get a 58 from a US station not in the contest. On 15m with a dipole on spider beams pole at home. Not sure what he had at the other end :) Are you finding you are stronger running mobile than at home QTH? My noise on 15m does not move the s meter so that's not a big problem. Just wondering if a better location with higher elevation is helping on HF? On the edge of a town here so only have a few streets before its farm land etc. But the elevation above sea level is low. Thanks Anthony

Thank you Anthony! Operating by the sea gives a big kick to your transmit and receive. If you can, you should try it

I like the idea Tim. Can you tell us where you bought the trap, please?
I can make them if I have the design, but I don’t want to! 73.

I do not like contests . Going to spend Sunday experimenting for 12 and 17 on an antenna setup (sadly not a vertical) before the summer madness starts. 73 . M7BLC

I don’t either. Listening on top band last night, no regard for band plan whatsoever.
They are like locusts. Descend as a swarm never to be seen again until the next damn contest.

you're saying summer madness, and you are an M7. never heard any other guy say that.

@@rjy8960 It's anathema to me. People who voraciously collect points for conversations on air that weren't conversations, contacting people that they've not remotely connected with.
The rubbish bands should be given to contesters 24/7 and let people have 20 and 40 for actually speaking to people.

@@kellypaws They only come out when the contests are running and then they have zero regard for band plans.

Tim: Previously you did 15 and 10 vertical with a trap for 10m. What length would the antenna be if you wanted to do 20, 15 and 10 meters and added a 15m trap?
