Man & machine , love the still shots?, life goes on good by history hello future?, we are speck of dust in time, Thank you for sharing your video cheers take care see you soon,
Looks like a mechanical dinosaur munching away at all that concrete and picking out the metal to make a nest for its young . Even the hydraulic lines look like veins .
I recently asked for some stats from Blackpool’s visitor information department. They claim that in 2018 more people visited Blackpool and spent more money than in 1992. They’re kidding themselves. In 1992 there were 42 discos and nightclubs in Blackpool, how many in 2018? How many arcades are there now compared to the early 90s? The erosion of Blackpool as a holiday destination and its ability to offer anywhere near the kind of facilities that it used to 30 years ago is scandalous. I watched this video and all I could think about was how busy it USED to be when there was a set of traffic lights on the original traffic island that used to be out of the front of what was ‘Wilkos’ or whichever supermarket owned it prior. When it was the Station pub opposite. That was a vibrant and busy town centre! Abingdon street was always packed with traffic too, all the shops were leased with quality tenants and on the weekends especially that town centre was HEAVING! WTF happened to Blackpool? Why did no-one stop sticky fingered councillors taking backhanders? Who thought pedestrianisation would be a great idea for the town? Why didn’t anyone instigate a reinvestment ‘tax’ to stop people from stripping money out of the town and taking it elsewhere? Who can save Blackpool before it dies? It’s clearly circling the drain just like Southport and Morecambe before it, a tram extension of a couple of hundred metres ain’t gonna do f’kall! The town needs investment in new attractions and a clear out of the problem elements. BLACKPOOL NEEDS HELP!
Isn't this the site for the original Blackpool North station? I vaguely remember Frankie Howerd visiting and the square full of his fans. What year was this please?
Perhaps, if they are asked very nicely, Forshaws will knock down Ma Kelly's on the opposite corner and do the people of Blackpool a real favour by eliminating that hideous monstrosity. By comparison, the old Wilko building wasn't horrendously unattractive.......and the 'Fine Fare' frieze on the wall facing the bus station had a certain '60s charm to it.
I was thinking just that. Also, Brian Rose has a gym on the next floor up from Ma Kellys. I'll miss the big store & car park, even if it was only for the amazing views from the top storey.
Two t, rex cranes show that "brutalist" architecture is tough, a wrecking ball would have been useless. Is Wilko's store in the" brutalist" structure I thought was a parking lot. I saw that "Funny Girls" that I thought was a motion picture theater, was it an Odeon or Gaumont?
tim bowerman This is a heck of a building to bring down. It makes me wonder if it was worth building in the first place when it’s only 40 years old. I would have thought they could have partially demolished it, or redesigned it. There was nothing wrong with the multi storey car park. It was just in the wrong place I suppose. Funny Girls was previously an Odeon.
@Lancashirelad was this the old Woolworths I can remember that had the revolving entrance doors...loved those as a child ,but quite scary!!! .Old Holidays never leave you .
Ayyy I saw you. I was there.... I’m the one what showed you that picture of the bird. When you said that your a photographer I said I am to and I take pictures of birds and different stuff

Ok I know who you are now. You even star in the video!
Yeah...... I go everyday to see the demolishing might see you again one day....
So, 2 chompers, but 1 is pulling out the rebar...plus ya got a robo-fan that blows the dust back.....demo is going to take forever times 2....
The 'fan' apparently sprays a fine mist of water across where the work is taking place in order to reduce the amount of dust in the air.
Visit Fylde Coast caught you in her video filming at Wilko today! Just seen that you caught Jane in yours 😂
Lisa Worrell Oh cool. I thought she looked quite professional.
👍
