    Have you ever had any issues with your learn table? I only have 500 miles on my Sniper/Hyperspark. After the first 200 miles I transferred my learn table to my base table and now my learn table remains blank. The handheld says it's learning while I'm driving but when I view the learn table it's still blank even after an additional 300 miles of driving. My learn is enabled at 100% gain and 50% correction across the board, it should be populating but it's not. The vehicle still runs good but it's not at it's full potential. Any help would be great!

    Thanks, lost my spare card and it's been so long I forgot how to load a new one. I always like to have a spare one just in case loaded with just the Holley files. .

    So do you think that would work for a first time software install? Cause I followed the directions but the little touch screen was pressing all the options when I tried pressing one. I finally made it to where it built the tune but it would not communicate with the tbi. Somehow the wizard was gone after that. I did what you did but like you said I could not erase that one file. This is my first one and it's for a customer and that was very frustrating. I'm going to try this how you did exactly tomorrow.

      The answer is no it does not work.

    The problem you are having is due to voltage drop. You can cut power completely to a Sniper with no issue, but dropping the voltage low will wipe the tune and/or firmware. That is what is happening when you crank it with low battery power and the screen reboots. That's why it starts better when the screen stays up and doesn't reboot.

    I did this and the car is still stalling out. It is a turbo car and i dont have the wastegates hooked up and the o2 sensor is downstream do you think its just loading the engine up? Its also showing the same screen again to check fornfw updates

    Never had a corrupt SD card how did you manage that

    • @ZanesGarage
      @ZanesGarage  3 года назад

      The issue started after some data logging so something must have gone wrong with that file at some point is what I think at least.

      Corrupting a SD card is alarmingly simple to do (SD cards are notoriously fragile and unreliable). When using one in a computer, ALWAYS "eject" via the file system explore before removing the card. For the Sniper hand-held, I would think it would be best if you did NOT pull the SD card while the system was powered on. In fact, I would probably wait 10 seconds or so after turning off the ignition before yanking the SD card.

    Honestly tell me if the Holley Sniper EFI is worth it? I have one on my Cheyenne Pickup Truck and have problems and no time to mess with it. Wouldn't a Holley 4 Barrel Carb be simpler?

    • @jsimmonstx
      @jsimmonstx 3 года назад

      Yes, a carb is simpler, because it puts fewer demands on the car, the installer, and the car owner. Installing and configuring EFI (regardless of the who made it) is just barely a DIY task for moderately experienced car guys, and that's mostly because you pretty much always have to finesse the tune to get the most out of the system. Knowing how to finesse the tune means being able to diagnose/fix problems along the way that normally wouldn't matter on a carb'd engine. That's why many people decide to have someone tune the car.
      In short, "better" is a subjective term.

      @@jsimmonstx thanks, the truck mostly sits under a cover. I drive it occasionally on nice days. The EFI seems to always be "Learning" and I'm thinking I don't drive it enough. I thought the EFI was going to be more reliable and less headaches bur apparently it requires more attention.

      @@paulleonardo4906 - Don't forget, you're installing a modern fuel/ignition management system into an old car that wasn't made for it. It's gonna be tempermental. The better your tune is, the more reliable the system becomes, so unless you want to pay for a tune, yes, you're gonna have to drive it more and in varying conditions (highway, city, up/down hills, etc).
      I just got my sniper stuff and am installing it this week. I spent the last two months getting the car ready for it, so I anticipate few -if any - issues. I've already halfway decided to get a tune for it once I've established that my install is adequate. Like you, my car sits in the garage under a cover, and I only drive it on nice days, because drag radials. :)

      @@jsimmonstx Thanks for your input. The initial problem I was having was when coming to a stop the engine would stall. So I did some reading and I adjusted the IAC down to the recommended 5% and I tried to drive it after that and didn't make it around the block, seemed like it ran on half the cylinders. Probably have fouled plugs now, but haven't had the time to dig deeper.

    You are cutting off the power of the sniper with the ignition key you have badly connected it is turning off
