We're in the exact same camp... as much as I'm sure they're so handy to work with, we just don't have the counter space for yet another medium-sized kitchen appliance! It's so good to know by switching into convection mode and adjusting temperature you can get the same affect with your oven. Thanks for this Anadi! Super useful!
Like I was telling you,...my oven has both settings, convection and air fryer. It has the exact same volume when using the air fryer setting, so volume is not always the case. Yes, it is with the counter top versions. My point here is not all air fryers are small. Most air fryers have the fan on top, as with convection ovens, it is in the back of the oven. yeah they're honestly just a way to spend more money. I find the most useful gadget really is a KitchenAid mixer - it was my first big appliance and I got it the second I rented my first apartment living alone. It made my pizza-making and bread-making so much better, I just didn't want to have one with roommates. But I got it ASAP living alone! Thanks Jennifer!

I was about to by an air fryer and did a little research on my Ilve oven, that has a convection setting (many of them), you just saved me counter top space and $100. Thanks for confirming what I was thinking.

noooo I got the air fryer on sale but it was still close to $200 anyway, and the waste of a basket totally defeated the whole selling proposition of that model. but yeah the poppers were tasty haha I'm just totally bummed about the waste of a purchase

I have a Samsung oven with an airfryer setting. Does what you said apply- raise temp 25-50 from the air fryer recipe?
Sorry for the late reply. It’s a general rule, 25-50 degrees is the range which you may have to experiment with since each air fryer is different.
