Yeah i think this whole album is playing off of Cherubim, what with the struggle between ult!dirk and alt!callie being similar to the struggle between our calliope and caliborn
I definitely hear this in two forms. In Dirk, and his multiple splinters, and in Dave. Particularly the creation of Davebot. The beginning sounds like something booting up, like a computer. In this case, that could be the robot. The beeping noises and extremely harsh dubstep drop sounds particularly like Davebot, now awake and active, is getting used to the unmitigated power he now has as his Ultimate Self. The softer bit, to me, seems as if the pieces of his humanity are still there, calling to him, and he is, once again, struggling to make sense of who he is and what he's become. Dave's whole arc has been about figuring out who he is, and it might feel like he's taken several steps backward. Maybe the piano bits we hear could even be about his friendship with John, which clearly still means a lot to him. He's still wearing the shades in Pesterquest, and on the ship, so my guess is he still would as Davebot. The beat returns a bit harder again, and between the bouncy "wubwubwub" and the gentle piano bit, he appears to be tossing himself back and forth with his decision. He's now the robot, and can't go back from that. Even if he wanted to. His corporeal form is now like Rose's. That is me, though.
also, his process of ultimate selfing differed from dirks in that dirk became a combination of all his splinters, and dave's ultimate self came in the form of seeing every possible life decision he couldve made to its end thus, every possible "split" in his "reality"
this really reminds me of a splitting apart reality, seams floating in the wind as paradox tears itself apart to support two narratives. gets me super hyped too
8luhhh what i meant to say this feels like paradox space is ripping itself apart to support the two storylines, and its just- not a good time (but for us its great)
I feel like it's more of a theme for Dirk/Calliope, representing the split narrative forces on the meat and candy timelines respectively. Dirk has dubstep stuff going on, and Calliope has piano motifs too. Maybe the fighting for dominance between the two tracks in this could tie into the fight for narrative control the two have in the meat epilogue.
Why do I have a feeling this song will play when everyone starts dying in the story- ._. I keep hearing some collide motifs and game over motifs for some reason which are both flashes that involve alot and alot of massive character deaths.
i know, its just so different for a story to do this. in most other stories, none of the main characters die at all (except for that random one that always dies at the end)
Ok, this song is amazing, but it's also terrifying. If it wasn't used for the Homestuck world, it could easily have been used for a horror movie about apocalypses.
as if in a later strife Davebot and Dirk are engaged in a deep strife and through the midway it gets emotional as they start to realize what's at stake. then towards the end they start ramping up for the final round.
this would be great for a davebot vs ultimate dirk flash. the little noises at the beginning could be dave charging up a timey thing and dirk charging up some pink lightning.
Another villain with a dubstep theme. I guess Dirk and )(IC are officially Pillar Men now (I'm not sorry). Jokes aside, this one's my favourite from the album.
i guess i want some more of alphamatic replacement in this track, its really annoying, when the NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA ends but the NARANARANA is silenced
Dirk is using his narrative powers to listen to the older HomeStuck tracks and I can't decide if i find that incredibly sad or happy
I find it sad because he's a bitch now and he's reminiscing about when he wasn't a bitch
why not both?
hig uys
The beat dropped harder than my will to live.
the beat dropped harder than the speed of sound when I dropped my spoon at 3AM
the beat dropped harder than candy dirk dropped form the bell tower

XAURIC!?!? Oh my god!!! That's Alphamatic Replacement! WOW, HE'S NOW A CANONIZED HOMESTUCK MUSICIAN.
After eight years we canon now~

i hear it as a song that might play when a character/s death happen-
I can hear Alphamatic Replacement
right?! at the end
i mean yeah both tracks are made by the same guy
I would like to hear this in quality of movie theater
I'm pretty sure you'd be reduced to gibs by the sheer bass alone.
honestly?? feel like this might be representative of the meat and candy timelines due to the leitmotifs in the beginning and the title itself
alphamatic replacement leitmotif is sick as hell
this really reminds me of a splitting apart reality, seams floating in the wind as paradox tears itself apart to support two narratives. gets me super hyped too

Dave song? He's got his split record + dubstep motif.
I feel like it's the postcanon version of Homestuck Anthem- nobody's theme but the story's.

as if in a later strife Davebot and Dirk are engaged in a deep strife and through the midway it gets emotional as they start to realize what's at stake. then towards the end they start ramping up for the final round.
yeah i can see this being an ultimate dave theme. ascending beyond simple techno beats into heavy industrial
this would be great for a davebot vs ultimate dirk flash. the little noises at the beginning could be dave charging up a timey thing and dirk charging up some pink lightning.
i love the duality of the meat timeline (dirks electronic music) and the candy timeline (alt-caliopes piano music)
