Offer/Promise 는 라틴계 동사임에도, 강세가 다른 고대영어에서 온 동사들처럼 첫음절에 있어요...이 동사들이 오래 쓰이면서 아마 고대영어에서 온 다른 동사들과 구분이 없어지고..그러면서 4형식이 가능하게 되었다는 것이 언어학계 이론 중에 있습니다.
offer/promise 는 라틴계 어원을 갖지만, 2개의 목적어를 가질수 있다는 것도 함께 기억해 주세요~~

위 문장은 소셜 미디어에 올라온 것인데요. 이 강의와 조금은 연관이 있는 거 같아서 질문 몇 가지 드립니다.
첫문장의 himself는주격 God를 강조하는 말로 이해하고 있습니다. 두번째 문장 He gives himself의 완전함 문장은 무엇이며 정확한 해석이 무엇인지 좀 알려주세요!
He gives himself에서 himself는 간접목적어이고 직접목적어가 생략된 형태인거 맞나요?
첫 문장에서 "himself"는 indeed "God"를 강조하는 말이구요..
두 번째 문장 "He gives himself"는 완전한 문장이며, "himself"는 "God"를 나타냅니다. 이 문장에서 "himself"는 단순히 강조되는 것이 아니라, God의 본질적인 존재 자체가 사람들에게 주어진다는 것을 나타내요. 기독교의 관점으로, God는 우리에게 그분 자신을 주신다는 의미요~
"God gives himself to us"
하나님은 해답을 주시는 것이 아니라, 그 자신을 우리에게 주신다.

오늘도 선생님 덕분에 열공하고 갑니다^^. 간혹 영어문장에서 2음절 이상의 정보동사류(convince/remind 등등)는 주어+동사+간접목적어+that절~ 을 받기도 하던데, 이건 위의 강의 두 개의 목적어(간접목적어+that절 직접목적어)를 받을 수 없는 것에서 예외로 해야 할까요?
She convinced me that it was a good idea. 이런 문장 구조를 말씀하시는 거라면..여기서 me 는 간접 목적어가 아니고 직접 목적어 입니다. convince 가 타동사로 직접 목적어를 취한 거예요..목적어가 사람이라서 우리말로는 마치 간적 목적어처럼 들릴수 있지만요...
와..이 궁금증을 해결해주시다니 ㅜㅜ

영어외에 궁금한게 있습니다. 미국인은 caravan으로 대륙여행할때 총기를 가지고 다닐까요?
그동안 영어를 사용하면서, 어떤 동사는 4형식이 되고 어떤 동사는 4형식이 안되는 이유를 궁금해 하면서도
그냥 외워서 사용 햇는데 짧다 / 길다로 구분 하는 방식 압권 입니다.

강조되는 의미가 약간 다르기는 하지만 He provided the fact sheet to him 도 바른 문장입니다~~ 그렇게 쓸 수 있어요~~

= I gave the report about my car accident to the policeman.
2. He brought me a variety of fruits.
= He brought a variety of fruits to me.
3. We decorated our house with new furniture.
4. He told me a funny story.
5. He gave a teacher a good description of the picture.

제가 cost 의 과거형을 costed 라고 ㅠㅠㅠ 죄송합니다. 가끔 어의 없는 말을 해대는 저를 용서하셔요..It cost me 20 dollars 가 맞아요.
덜덜 떨면서 다음 관련 영상을 봤더니 다행히 거기서는 제대로 했더라구요 ㅠㅠㅠ
사전에는 cost의 과거형이 cost costed 다 된다고 나와있는 데 아닌가요?
