I think only losing £6 k is a massive result on an EV ! I personally will not have one because I do not believe the Eco hype behind them, I run 2 x Jags XJ 3.0 D & F type SVR 5.0 petrol. My cars give me immense pleasure my XJ does 40 mpg my SVR does 0 to 60 in 3.5 secs but costs a lot to run. I'm living the dream car wise and have no desire to go EV.

(FOCUS RS) If it's the standard head unit, if you keep it switch on for over 24hours non stop. Which will mean you need to keep a charger on it. It should turn on. When it does turn on it should have restored to factory setting. If that fails ask Ford for the code. You can request it with the chassis number of the car. 👍

Good video. I agree, hybrid can make a lot of sense if you do short journeys daily. If you're driving long distance daily then diesel is your best bet. If you're picking a hybrid then pick one with double the range you need for daily driving to account for cold weather performance and battery depreciation.

Mercedes GLE 350 de - This plug-in hybrid diesel SUV is not only luxurious and exceptionally comfortable, its huge battery enables it to travel a whopping 58 miles on electricity alone. However, it also means it has a pretty small boot for a big, posh SUV.

Richard, 7000 miles cost you £6000 plus your charging costs of up to £200 a week I think you said in a previous video. That is an expensive vehicle to run! I bought my Mk7 Transit van for £6,000 & I filled it up for about £120 drove 376 miles & half a tank of diesel left.
So, for what you lost you could have bought my van outright & driven to SW France & back a good few times😂🤣💪

Battery technology is the obstacle to widespread BEV adoption. The battery is far too heavy, far too expensive, and far too slow to charge. Funnily enough this is exactly why electric cars were left behind by IC engined cars over a century ago. By the time battery technology has advanced to the stage of mass adoption, I suspect that something else will already have taken over, probably hydrogen fuel cells.

Interesting update going back to that Nokia is a sensible choice 😇. Would you also ask your data cruncher to look at costing in your time waiting around and the cake? In all seriousness EV’s seem ideal for those who are only time rich, have home charging for shorter distances, plenty of disposable income or it’s a company car / motability or on a lease scheme. You just wouldn’t buy one out right. For the ordinary person £6k would be a lot of money who’d not be able to play with the tax system, but I suspect the depreciation on a less prestigious marque would be even more, saw a CarWow video the other day the costs are not sustainable for everyday folk. I just don’t see how these vehicles can save the planet or the money in your wallet. Have you thought about just getting an everyday dad car just for running around with the kids and dog?

Richard sorry to hear you have decided to give up on BEV. Your comment that the charging network cost is pertinent. For those who are able to charge at home on an EV tariff I think an EV is an obvious choice. We have two EV (BMW i3 and Nissan Ariya 87KW ) and are able to home charge. The BMW is mainly used for local journeys. Nissan we take on long journeys. Using the Tesla Supercharger network where possible to reduce costs. Never found a problem charging. The new Porsche Macan BEV is a car I’m considering next.

If you had bought it new you would have lost £60,000 at least. What about the charging costs to add on ? I sold my ev last week as it was dropping £500 plus a month at 2 years old. Cupra Cardiff even have preregistered cars bought from Northampton Cupra at £8650 off list price with 20 miles on the clock. There is talk of many dealerships selling ev's off cheap to get rid of them. MacMaster had his Taycan battery cooling fans fail (they collect gravel) but if he had bought the car used he would have had to pay £4000 to replace them. Who wants a 3 or 4 year old ev out of manufacturer warranty with 4 years of battery warranty left ? What if your ev has lost 30% of its range ? Battery packs are £14,000 to £45,000 to replace. Electric cars are a manufacturers wet dream because they know your new car will be worthless in 8 years. No one mentions the £1000 a year insurance for a Tesla or Taycan.
