পেঁপের জন্য ২.২ মি দূরত্বে গর্ত তৈরি করে প্রতি গর্তে ৩টি করে চারা রোপণ করা হলে হেক্টর প্রতি ৭৫০০ চারা লাগবে এবং শেষ পর্যন্ত ২৫০০ গাছ থাকবে। এই সংখ্যক সুস্থ সবল চারা পেতে ৪০০ থেকে ৫০০ গ্রাম বীজের প্রয়োজন হয়। তবে হাইব্রিড পেঁপের জন্য ১০০ থেকে ১৫০ গ্রাম বীজই যথেষ্ট।
সবজি হিসেবে কচি ফল সংগ্রহ করা হয়। পাকানোর জন্য ফলের ত্বক হালকা হলুদ বর্ণ ধারণ করলে সংগ্রহ করতে হয়।
