Excellent video. I’m proud to have been a part of the Procurement team supplying the Air to Air Refuelling systems with Cobham. Great stuff RAF.
Ain't they selling Cobham ?
For britains size they sure do pack a punch, and Britains millitary spendings the 5th biggest on earth because it has constant deployments globally unlike most country's.nbritainsvalways doing something somewhere and it's great,
First, cannot wait for the F35 to be fully integrated into the RAF.
Coolest cats in teh air. Everyone wants to be their friend.
Love this channel keep up the amazing work! Love You!
Voyager is some aircraft. Flew all over the world on it..
The Falklands was my favourite.
Naaaaaaaaaat
Not owned by RAF though but by a private consortium and leased to the RAF on a need basis
Very sad fact.
He was a Red Arrows pilot eh
Im going to miss the tornados, I dont like the F-35, the design looks cool, but its not what we need, there are other aircraft that are cheaper and better.
Really name them??
Bulletproofcammy only one that I know of at this moment is the gripen, it also costs a lot less. As well the jets cost over £90m and the military are still suffering budget cuts and they're still buying £90M jets. Gripen can do the same thing as the F35 but it isn't VTOL, it's the RAF not the navy.
Euann - So tell me how would we land a Gripen on the QE Carriers, in a car park or in a forest clearing as we can with the F-35B. And how do we replace the F-35's sensor and suppression suite that is now working to launch weapons off a Typhoon onto targets designated by an F-35.
Harrier Is were operated mainly by the RAF and they operated all Harrier II and we still need that STOVL capability. The F-35 is a jointly operated aircraft. And you really are dreaming if you think the Gripen has any where near the stealth, sensor avionics capability of an F-35. £90 Mn? Thats about what a fully specified Typhoon costs.
1chish yes true but, we are spending more money on jets, yet the military is still receiving budget cuts. Plus yes the F35B is good for stovl. There are still technical more capable aircraft than the F35 such as the typhoon.
Your got that wrong.
Thompson flight to Tenerife.... sorry try Brize Norton...pilots are civilian pilots but reserve . It's a right mess and costing millions of tax payers money..
Not all pilots are reservists
*UK always there to support Americas wars*
If by supporting America's wars you mean getting rid of members of Daesh and other terrorist organisations, and protecting our own nation then I'm more than happy for us to carry on as before.
birds with the same feather flock together.
Well that's not completely true. The American War of Independence was fought against... the British...
Then there was the War of 1812, which the United States fought against... the British...
Anglo-American co-operation in the World Arena came about mainly in the 20th century. It was during WW2 that the Sceptre & Orb of being the dominant World Power was passed from the British to the USA.
Oh please do some research before posting nonsense. It makes you look rather silly and I’ll informed
RAF doesn't even own those refuelers, sad state of affairs.
They lease them and no problem adding extra aircraft when required.
Believe it might be 4 aircraft in reserve actually. But airhab has a point, part of the contract with the company we lease voyager from is that we cannot use other aircraft for aerial refueling. E.g. I believe Germany, France and Spain all currently do or intend to use the A400m in aerial refueling operations as well as dedicated refueling planes like voyager, however we cannot do that unless we leave said contract.
UK government we need more jets .. get us building in the UK investment in your military defence our overseas territories defence forces and development projects , infrastructure projects we know we can't rely on the EU anymore that's been proven
