Oh man, hopefully you guys have the bell notifications on! RUclips is being whacky this week and a ton of recommendations and data is unavailable. Make sure to ring the bell so you don't miss anything!!!
It's so awesome how I know most of these quick tips already but I still can't stop watching, I wish I had you as one of my teachers at school because I would of always paid attention! Legend!
2:48 So glad you heard what you said, because I instantly started laughing. "9in away from my mouth." "9in is perfect." INSERT: THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID. I love your videos and tips. I have the GoPro 8 and still learning so much with it. I would love your unused cameras.
In the studio I like the variable sound of a boom mic as it is more natural. BUT...when I film outdoors (which is most of the time), a wireless lav mic (Rode Go + lav mic) gives you much more freedom to move around, not get tangled up in cords, and better overall sound. My tuppence worth anyway,!
I've been a subscriber for quite awhile now. I really like what you are doing. I'll be honest, the type of content you are delivering is what I used to get out of Peter Mckinnon's channel. Now that he appears to have gone "big time" the content focus that I enjoy simply is now lacking. You're rocking it; it keep up the good work. "Quick Tip Tuesday", own it!
So I’m starting an Airsoft channel, I’d like some advice on how to improve the viewer quality. Lighting control isn’t an option but some of the other stuff is. You’ve inspired me to do a video on how to properly capture good Airsoft footage once I get my crap together. Search for packmuleairsoft to find me.
Exactly! I recorded the lav into my iPhone, then mixed it in post. The boom mic is the Rode NTG (my latest video on that mic), and it's connected directly to my camera
David Manning can you make a short video on how to export gopro footage? I see a lot small youtubers suffer from compression artifacts and pixelated footage after exporting.
I just bumped into your channel - and am impressed! Great quality content and very helpful. And for those who would have to look it up like I had to: 4 feet is about 1.20m and 9 inches are nearly 23cm 😝
Make sure to record scratch audio on your camera while you're recording your main audio through the lav, then watch this video 😉 > ruclips.net/video/t6oohWK-dlc/видео.html
That can be super difficult! When I have sometime, I like to go through a few different genres/moods and favorite a bunch that I like. That way, next time I start a video, I have a shorter list to hopefully pull from. Maybe I’ll make a video walking through my process in ES
I have the smartlav+ and it sounds kidna echoey. Any tips? I have it connected to the camera and tried to fix the sound in fcpx but with minimal to no effects. You can hear it in my videos. Thanks
Nice.... have you covered the best microphones for each application you use. If so, can ya reply me a link. I have GoPros 7’s and what’s the best mount and microphone or DSLR setup... or wireless Lapel mic to GoPro or DSLR...
I almost always record directly to camera, but with the Mic off camera, like in this video. There's a 10ft extension cable that you can pickup for Rode mics so that I can have the mic just above me, but still be directly plugged into the camera👍
I don't know if you know how to help me, but if I wanted to record me drumming would I want to A. Put the mic above mo B. Below me or C. Side/waist level .I have a nice mic but I have no idea where to put it.
Bryce Weaver hey Bryce! If David can’t help you, look up Gustin Flaig Drummer. He drums for me and audio records himself a lot! He may have some helpful tips!

Hahaa! Man, with how many that’s what she said comments that I’ve gotten, as soon as I said it, I heard it🤣🤣🤣
@@DavidManningvlog it makes it even better that you caught yourself and all you can do is laugh at it.
Yeah man, had to keep it in🤣
Very helpful! Imaging you treated that room bro! Sounds great already. I used budget moving blankets on the floor. Cheers.
I've been looking into what the best route to go is. Might work on some sound treatment soon!
Nice video
I use a lav mic attached to my phone mainly as they are cheaper
Can you do a video where you show how you setup a quick tip Tuesday video?
Love these quick tips
Stoked Colin! Thanks man!
Great tips and yes. I am here because of your gopro videos. 😆I just ordered my first gopro, a hero 8, partially because of your reviews.
Nice Jeff! For sure checkout the Rode VideoMicro and an extension cable to get this setup👍 amzn.to/2ViXZD2
Good morning David!!!!
Omg the audio quality depending on your mic location is just crazy, cheers David
Isn’t that wild?! For sure the closer you can get it the better!
this was very helpful, thanks!
Nice video! I build a stand out of 2x4 for my mic when I’m inside and wrap a gorillapod with the mic around it.
Nice work! That's a rad way to get it dialed in!
I’d be curious to know your setting for the Videomic. I have the same setup, but I think yours sounds much better 😬
I do a bit in post to clean things up. Maybe I'll make a video soon going over dynamics and compression 👍

I 100% agree Henry! A lav when filming outside keeps things super simple!
Awesome!
Yo your the best and you help alot
Stoked Grant! Love this this was helpful!
Very helpful, thak you
Great quick tip! Excited to make some enhancements to my videos ;)
I'm honestly impressed by the quality of the lav mic. I always thought they were bad
Yeah, the Rode SmartLav+ is super impressive!
And so damn handy!

Love your work!! I’ve been struggling with Audio lately and my rode mic is so dead now so I need to buy a new one. Any suggestions ?
I'm looking to pickup their Rode NTG pretty soon here. I'll let you know how it is!

Oh man, love it! Are you currently filming on a GoPro as you play?
David Manning currently I’m using a GoPro hero 8 with holes cut into the diving case for the mics and charging port.
Great video 👍
Thanks 👍
Did u mix audio from Lav later in post processing??? How about your boom mic?
Exactly! I recorded the lav into my iPhone, then mixed it in post. The boom mic is the Rode NTG (my latest video on that mic), and it's connected directly to my camera
@@DavidManningvlog Thank you very much for reply and infor.
Best channel !! Helps alot. So when is the video coming about how you edit in Premiere pro?

Can you make a video on GoPro videography editing
Boom! ruclips.net/video/dlgeg4bkGCw/видео.html
Thanks bro
Any time!😄
Can you also link the extension cable you used for the C-stand?
It says it's currently unavailable on Amazon, but lookup the Rode mic extension cable and you'll find it👍
Hey David, what's a good tip to match the audio when recording thru a Lav mic to the video clip?
Make sure to record scratch audio on your camera while you're recording your main audio through the lav, then watch this video 😉 > ruclips.net/video/t6oohWK-dlc/видео.html
Great tips there David, thank you. Took up the ES subscription but I seem to spend an age finding the right music, how do you choose your tracks?

Do you typically record the audio to the camera or use a separate recording device/smartphone/etc? Are there advantages to one method over the other?
I almost always record directly to camera, but with the Mic off camera, like in this video. There's a 10ft extension cable that you can pickup for Rode mics so that I can have the mic just above me, but still be directly plugged into the camera👍

9 inches from ya huh ? That's what she said lol
🤣
😂😂😂😂😂😂9 inches is perfect. ... me rolling on the floor laughing LOL
Can you make some vids about go pro max z?
I need to! I’m going to be playing a lot with the Insta360 One R soon, so maybe I’ll do a little comparison action with the Max!
David Manning that’s great
🔥👍🔥
9" is perfect but 4 1/2 feet?? lol
Hahaha! Might be a bit much
Hey its derek from step brothers movie lol
Hahaha! Yup, I get that guy a lot
9 inches is just a little to close to my mouth for things with that shape. Banana's and pickles are ok .
Hahaa! Wait, why are bananas and pickles okay, but not a mic?! Those are way more phallic!
@@DavidManningvlog Because they taste good David !!!! I'm pretty sure mic's don't and certain other phallic shapes I hope I never find out !
Great video Dave! Thanks for replying to my DM. Still hate you cause your wife is hotter than mine..... I dont have a wife lol
trav4oilers 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I need to get up there so we can play some hockey together! Winner gets to take my wife on a date!🤣
David Manning done and done. Where you located, let’s make it happen. Bring the hero max haha
San Diego! Little tough to find ice around here. Bring some rollerblades👍🤣

9 inches = 23 cm - for the rest of us ;-)
I've gotta start remembering to do that conversion!
