    It's happening! Eeeee!!! I'm so ecstatic for you, Heather! I cried tears of joy when I saw the peek into the greenhouse with the 6 middle beds and their cattle panel archways ready to display beautiful greenery later this growing season. Silly I know, but just so wonderful to see it coming true for you and knowing this update to the greenhouse will be so amazing for you and your family's ability to grow food. Can't wait to see more progress! I know Levi does a ton in the background that most don't see, so it was also nice to see a bit more of him working with you on this project. Lots of hugs. 💚💚💚

      You and me both!! I often cry tears of disbelief when editing videos. "Am I looking at MY life"?! It's surreal still. Levi doesn't love being the center of attention but he really does love the creativity aspect of building and problem solving so we got to see him at his best while being a fly on the wall. I'm glad you appreciated it!! ♥♥

    Very cleaver idea about covering with the box and also the totes before adding the plastic. One thing my Pawpaw used to do was use News Papers over his tomato plants and other crops when the danger threat of a frost was coming. Form like a tent and cover the edges with dirt. Not sure if they used a single sheet of paper, but most likely several pieces of the paper were used.
    My method of watering the plants off right before the sun hit them seemed to have worked. Hope it works twice in a row because the temps tonight are supposed to be lower than last night. Also, one of the Biggest snow storms I can remember here in Georgia happened in late April but I can also remember years ago it snowing in May days before Mothers Day.

    Jed, my youngest Son, just replaced my trellis with a t-post and cattle panel one, but it's so difficult getting something that resembles your actual cattle panels at a reasonable price here in the UK. It's actually builders weld mesh, and you can't get it at the same gauge and length you have. The irony is that Jed used to make this stuff for a company he worked for, because it was cheaper for them to pay him to make it than them buy it in, but now he's not at the company anymore. It's all nuts! I look forwards to seeing all yours planted up, and in full swing later 😁

    Green house looking good. I am so jealous of your 85 degree weather ...lol we have had low 70's in R.I. then got cold again. I love the spring my 3 children and myself all born in March and it's always been so beautiful you could get away with a sweater or sweatshirt and the last few days I been wearing my winter coat. I have also noticed the older I get the more I hate to be cold...I will say the opposite when it's in the high 90's and high humidity but that's summer in Rhode Island. I think I remember you saying you are from Maine I hope I am getting it right but is the weather in Maine like R.I. I know I have been to Maine a handful of times and it's always been in the mid to end of summer and it's was beautiful ❤

    Oh how fun to have a good space to grow in. Can't wait to see what you put up those arches. Here I have the opposite problem of too much heat and not enough water. While I have some low beds, like 6" high I actually like to dig out basins and plant slightly below grade when I can manage it as that helps keep the ground more moist. And of course lots of goat compost helps too!

    I remember that May frost of 2020 here in East TN! It hit us the 8th though. I planted on May 1, with the 10 day forecast not showing anything at all near a frost in the future, and on May 6th or 7th the forecast changed and we got a serious frost. I'm glad all your stuff survived this time.

    Congrats on the greenhouse beds...looks lovely. I am impressed with the upgraded bracing system with Birdies Beds. We were deciding between wood and metal beds for our garden last fall and went with wood because I wasn't convinced the old bracing would hold the pressure of the soil on the taller beds.
    A few leaves on my potato plants must have touched the frost cloth because they turned black but 90% survived and I'll take it! I am trying to figure timing for spring brassicas since I have to plant nightshades in the same beds for the summer. They are running out of time to perform since the tomatoes are growing bigger by the day. I'll try again for the fall. Always learning.

    • @SageandStoneHomestead
      @SageandStoneHomestead  2 месяца назад +2

      Usually our brassicas are harvested in June when we plant them out in late winter/early spring. These brassicas in the greenhouse have been in since dec and they stalled out over winter!

    So exciting! It’s looking amazing! I think that’s what we need in the winter too. We have such mild winters here in Arizona. It does get cold, but it doesn’t last very long and I think everything would’ve grown a little bit better in some kind of greenhouse our cabbages were super small, but it was my first year growing anything over the winter

    • @SageandStoneHomestead
      @SageandStoneHomestead  2 месяца назад +2

      Some years are better than others for the greenhouse and growing over winter. These beds should help optimize the situation!! Cabbages love nitrogen too!

    I’m so ready to plant outside but our last frost date is May 15 but in the past I’ve had frost into June, so I’m always cautious and looking at the forecast everyday ❤❤❤ The bracing on the raised beds looks really strong! I’m hoping our Vego beds hold up, we bought the extra tall ones and it will be the first year using them

      @@SageandStoneHomestead I don’t know either, ours came with 2 braces but not the bracket that goes down the inside. We should have just made that modification when we put it together, 🤞 it’s all good.
