Certainly not offended by the word lame, and why should anyone? It's not the word that offends but how it is used. Good grief, I feel like you can't say anything these days without offending people.
I wish I had added this stamp set to my latest order, I didn't think I needed it but for sure it will be included in my next one. It will make a great companion to the cow from a few months ago. So cute :)
It definitely has the same feel as the cow stamp. I agree, it is more how the word is said and used than the word itself.
Love the layouts and all the detail. I like what someone said that it is worse to take offense than to give offense because you can give offense without knowing it but you can never take offense without knowing. I am not one for political correctness because it seems to change every day and I can't keep up. I don't intentionally offend anyone and I try to remember that most other people don't either. We all need to remember the world doesn't revolve around us.

Leave it to the kids to come up with lame to describe your date night! I think it is a part of their vocabulary in an affectionate way! And as an older person I remember hearing or saying it used for a poor excuse or reason-that was a lame excuse. I guess it’s all in how you look at it! Love this layout!
Now that you mention it I can hear my parents telling me my excuses were lame growing up. Funny how those words came flooding back and now that I am an adult I can see why they said that 😂
I think they should have kept the stamp as it was. I don’t find it offensive at all. I agree with how you explained it. Sometimes things are just lame, not perfect, or not great! Can’t please everyone, don’t try.
I am glad you were not offended. It is true, many things in life are not perfect. I try to use humor to get through those not so great moments.
Ya know just today, I visited a new Dr who said, "how's that lame hand?" I busted a gut because I'm lame and not ashamed, but remembered that we were changing that set. I can remember older days referring to farm animals too. Darling layout !!and sort of sad I missed the original set.

First of all, I love your videos. You truly have a special gift for scrapbooking, teaching, video editing, speaking etc!! As for the word lame, teenagers use that word. I can remember my neighbor’s daughter telling me that her parents were lame. We still laugh about it 15 years later.

I actually think ‘LAME’ is a perfectly fine word. I was shocked to hear that there are those who only see the negative connotations attached to it. When you mentioned it and WEIRD, I immediately started thinking of photos I could use them with. Possibly being an Aussie, we have a different (not so intense) way of looking at the world. I’m sad to hear that CTMH have reacted to the comments by some people.

Love the layout. You even made me look at pigs in a new way! Not offended by the word "lame" in any way. It was used when I was in school many years ago. It has been around for a long time. I feel that some people these days could make an issue out of any word. I am sad that they are changing it.

I'm always so excited when a see a new video from you and this one did not disappoint, very cute!! I've learned so much from you about making my own embellishments with stamps and dies for our scrapbook pages...I love the look and so much more versatile. No, I'm not offended by the use of the word lame, having had teenagers I know what it means when used that way. Very kind of CTMH to be sensitive to others. I have never raised pigs, only dogs and cats and kids.
Also, I can't get over that you're a Vet Tech, take care of a family, animals and a garden...then have time to scrapbook and make videos for us...thank you!! I think we should call you Wonder Woman!
I love the playful words including lame in the stamp set. Love the layout. You have given me ideas in how to use 6x6 paper on a layout. I was raised on a small 10 acres farm and my dad loved raising pigs. He was raised on a farm himself. He didn't stay on the farm when he grew up. He went into another profession. His love for pigs and for the farm is still a part of him to this day. I live on a ranch and cows are the only thing that we raised and I will be honest, I wouldn't have pigs on the ranch. lol.
lol, no pigs for you? I do enjoy the cows also but pigs are funny and make me laugh, kind of like baby goats, they are fun to watch. Farm life does become a part of you even if you are not actively living the farm life. I agree and thought the word was fun and playful. I often try to use humor to get through "bad times"
@@CraftyConceptswithErin Pigs are very intelligent animals. I remember helping my dad along with my siblings, cleaning out the hog barn in the middle of the summer. Not a fun job. lol.
Love your layouts so much Erin, your videos are top notch as well. You're such a great content creator. I think its lame they are changing it and am happy i have the original, because really, are we gonna document our Uncle Ben who cant walk and label him lame on the layout, PROBABLY NOT.I f anything, its rude to label someone disabled as lame. Hello Sheri, I appreciate your kind words. A friend jokingly said we should hang onto these stamps because they are now rare. You make a good point and no I would not document my uncle that way 😂 I didn't think they did used the word to describe disabilities but maybe they do 🤷♀️ It was a surprise to me. Teenagers think everything their parents do is lame.

Great layout! I love everything about it. One reason that you are my favorite channel is you have such a gift for teaching and explaining your design process. I love hearing how you are thinking as you create. I also love how you show how you correct mistakes mid- process (like with the ink smearing in this video). Also...as someone who also scrapbooks the "good, the bad and the ugly," I also like words such as "lame" that showcase the fact that this is real life.
Erin thank you for the awesome video's. Really needed to watch this one this morning, it lifted my winter blahs. Love the layout. I was taught sticks and stone saying which goes back to the 1860's. To many folks get to vocal about things that offend them too easily. Many things in our society can be offensive to me also but I choose to overlook them. I'm just thankful I don't run a company like CTMH that I have to make the choices they do. Thankful for the blessings I get from your videos. You're my favorite RUclips show. I think each generation has their words or slang "lame" was ours. The word fits so many circumstances that I would use the stamp.
I definitely grew up with the word and continue to hear it often. I suppose that is why it surprised me to hear they had to change it.
Oh I really like this layout. I am amazed how you can use your stamps. Thank you for sharing with us . I really want to learn to use inks and stamps.
I see nothing incorrect with the word lame. I have heard it used all my life and no one was offended . Frankly I hear must worse words used everywhere today .
I say jump right in and start stamping. I love how I can customize my own embellishments with stamps, plus it is just fun to do! I also hear words on a regular basis that would make a mother cover her child's ears. It's weird what is okay and what isn't and its hard to keep up.
Love this layout. I will have to have that pig, probably in my February order🥰. I have no problem with the word “lame”, although I know some people may. I really wish they wouldn’t take it away from the people that like it but I understand when you own a company that you try to make everyone happy. Kudos to CTMH for being sensitive to those who feel offended, but I still think they should not have removed the word!
I know CTMH handled things they best way they thought they could. It's a tough situation and I am glad I don't call the shots.
I love the pig! This was my son's last year of raising pigs after a decade of 4-H and FFA projects. My husband loves pigs though, so eventually we will raise more! As a horse girl I got excited when I saw the lame word on the stamp set, I have documented a lame horses recovery before and probably will again someday! I love the layout!
Hi Emily, I am a horse gal too! Yes the word Lame is bound to come in handy when you have horses. It is probably bitter sweet that your 4-H season is over. I can remember raising lambs and hogs way back when I was in high school. Lots of fun memories.

Another great layout Erin! I have a piggy (she's 13 this year) so this stamp set is a must have. Mimi is so smart, she has a pet cat and chicken. The chicken sits on her back and they go everywhere together.
As far as the word lame, I was excited to see it on a stamp set. Obviously I'm not offended by it but we live in a time that people get offended by everything. Sometimes life has bad moments and documenting them can be therapeutic. I respect the company for doing what they need to do to be respectful to all but think it's sad the word was twisted. Obviously it was never their intention to offend anyone! And yes we use lame in medical terminology!

Another fun layout and love the pig with the flower crown! A date night is just that, a chance to be alone together doing something you enjoy. More power to you both for 'feeding' your pigs together!! I'm sure your boys actually think it is awesome. I am expecting my 'The Little Things' order today. Hopefully I ordered it BEFORE the change. My cousin has 4 pet pigs. They are very smart animals! I’m not offended by “lame”. Sometimes a horse or two would become lame and my children used it to describe a reason that they didn’t like when I told them why they were not allowed to do something. Great layout and the top striped paper flipped over bothered me for a long time!! Lol So glad you caught it! What a beautiful little pig you colored!

I am, also, not offended by the word lame. When you first explained it was being discontinued because it offended some people I thought it was silly and couldn't understand that someone could be so easily offended. However, you explained it very well at the end and I now can appreciate why someone would be offended. Well Done and very positive. Also, love the layout.

You've done it again!! Love this cute layout and all of your techniques in it too. The coloring of the pig if perfect and then incorporating the colors in a dirty type layout was perfect. Being with pigs is a dirty place and you brightened it up. Shocked to hear about "lame". Everyone gets offended by something these days which is so sad. You can't look or say anything anymore that doesn't offend someone. Lame is in the vocabulary of my sons too so no offense in this house. Oh and I love our animal stamps!! Next I want a donkey as my son has his 3 miniatures on our place. Love farm animals they're all so sweet!!

We choose whether or not to be offended by something. If someone really wants to look hard enough, you could find offense in literally anything. I’m a bit disappointed that CTMH bowed down to this. We all know the most common and most used definition of the word is so innocent. If companies continue to bow down to the woke mob, they will do nothing more than alienate their most loyal supporters by attempting to satisfy those who will never be satisfied. Your layout is beautiful, as always! I didn’t order mine in time so sadly, I won’t get the one with the forbidden word on it, and it really would have made a funny layout for my daughters horse, who has occasionally become lame and unable to jump. We laugh about it because I’ll tease and say “gosh, he’s so lame!” In my best Napoleon Dynamite voice 😂

I appreciate your perspective and agree that we choose to be offended. Putting myself out here in the public eye opens the door for all sorts of not so nice comments and I choose to ignore them. One person's opinion does not define me. I do understand there are obvious words out there we shouldn't say I just really was surprised others felt this was one of them. Having a horse you will most definitely use the word. I can imagine your daughter must think your Napoleon Dynamite impression is hilarious.
I agree with so many of these other comments. Wish both sets were available b/c I would prefer the “lame” set as it’s my gos daughters favorite phrase. “That’s so lame Jenny, it shows how old you are😂!!” She’s 6 and has no clue and documenting her “lame” phase would be perfect!
P.S. I would love to see a flip through with your planner! Love the idea of searching but have failed at many attempts and this looked perfect!

I have no problem with the word LAME, in fact after I heard they were going to change it, I was so happy that I already had my set with the word in it. It will fit right in with many of my everyday life of raising kids layouts!

Not offended but it just think they always cave to the other side. Why not leave it and those of us that want to buy it with the word lame be able to buy it.
Absolutely!!! I don't like geometric designs so I don't buy them, and there are so many stamps out there with new trendy words that I can't stand. I don't use those stamps. Easy peasy. That doesn't mean someone else can't have an EPIC geometric designed page. lol
Seems like an easy solution to me, if you don't like it don't buy it.
This layout is so super fun and I love that your date nights are off on the quad to feed the pigs. Way to make a chore super fun - and those pigs!!!! Loving the touches of colour and how you have challenged yourself to embrace this more, they work so well with the black and white. As for the stamp set - I'm so glad I've got the original one! Loved your thoughts, honesty and explanation of why you've used it and stamping within your handwriting looks so good!

This is super cute! At first I thought it was SO WEIRD that you were mixing those b&w patterns with the coloured ones but as usual you had the vision and it changed my opinion! No offense at the word lame, I love when humour is interjected in scrapbooking. Not everything needs to be all pretty and precious! I like real life and sometimes life is lame! It's all good!

I was totally sold when you said it had the word lame in the set. I thought that is unique I should buy that. I even added to my cart. Then continued watching and you said that set was changed. I went online and looked and yes it’s changed. Removed from cart. I hadn’t even considered this set until you said how unique the phrases were.

I really like your pig layout. I also like seeing you use the 6x6 paper. I have a bunch of those! As far as lame goes, I don't know anyone who uses it or would be offended by it. My son's word he used all the time was "random". I love watching your videos & seeing how you use the stamps. I've been scrapbooking a long time, but I just now am getting in to using stamps. I like stamps that have lots of "random" words to use!

If someone doesn’t like a particular word, the should not fuse to get the word removed- just don’t buy that particular stamp set.

Here is another perspective...
I believe the word "lame" is to individuals with physical disabilities as the word "retarded" is to individuals with intellectual disabilities. They were once used to refer to a medical condition, but now used in derogatory ways to mean "unfit," "stupid," "bad,," "ridiculous,' etc. Therefore I think the term is offensive to some and I applaud CTMH for being inclusive of and sensitive to all members of society.
With that said, I absolutely love you, Erin, and appreciate your creativity, inspiration, teaching, and amazing sense of humor. Your layouts are always amazing and I learn something new from you all the time. Thank you!
Hello Jessie, I do appreciate your perspective. My best friend's son was mentally handicapped and she was very disappointed in people who used the word "retarded" and understandably so. Such a great layout! I am loving that Life's a Hoot circle stamps set too! So glad I bought it! I also have the Pig and the Farm set! I seem to be drawn to the Farm animal sets, yet I have never owned any animals other than dogs or cats! I'm not offended by the word lame, but I understand why some people might be! Oh well, it is what it is!
Hi Ronda, I agree the farm animal sets are a must have! Good thing stamps don't have to be literal to embellish our projects. Like the owls, I've got one on a layout coming up and really it has no rhyme or reason 😂
I said to my daughter we are documenting our lives, not a fairytale. Life sucks sometimes and it deserves a place in our memory books.

Love your love of pigs & all animals. I don’t find the word lame as offensive. The stamp set is more than just one word. If it had a special word I was looking for, it might cause me to buy it but having a word I might not use wouldn’t stop me from buying if I loved the rest of the set.
This is a cute layout and I love how you incorporate so many stamps on layouts. I want to try and do more of that along with the ink blending. I don't find the words offensive at all and my husband has a couple of habits that I refer to as weird all the time (in a joking manner of course!)

Love this layout and the unexpected bright colors. I also struggle to use up my 6X6 papers so thanks for showing this example. I have no problem with the word lame. I am actually a linguist by training and it’s all in how we use language. I too scrapbook a snapshot of our entire lives, not just the pretty, and would have appreciated the sentiment.
