I don't understand the point of private insurance when it is so expensive! Unless you have an obscenely good salary, it does not make financial sense. I have public insurance, and so far it covers my needs. The only extra I pay is dental insurance, just in case.
Well Private insurance isn't for everyone . Even I don't have it because it doesn't make sense for my current situation. But for some people it can definitely make sense. For example if there is a single young professional, no diagnosed diseases, health and active with no married, and makes more than 70k. That this person would be saving hundreds of Euros by simply shifting from Public to Private insurance. Thats why it only makes sense for individual cases and not everyone.
@@ahsanfinance I agree, but I have to point out, most people reach the level of income required for private insurance when they are already older and not as healthy, making the switch impossible or impractical. My experience is definitely marked by how well the health system in Germany has worked out for me. I have not experienced 99% of the problems mentioned in this video, so I am definitely biased in favor of public insurance.
Very interesting. I only call the doctor when I feel really sick, and whenever I do, they give me an appointment a few days later. i could be dead by then, so I always then tell them I am privately insured, and they suddenly tell me I can come in straight away. It's disgusting. I end up paying myself because I'm rarely ill, so it isn't so bad. Now I have private insurance, and it costs about 5.5k per year.
