This is my favorite song so far! I just love this song....so much energy and life. :-D I love the Sàmi singer in there....it's just a great song all around. So far it's my #1 song. :-D
Electropop with sami language and joik is what makes this special and something new in ESC. “Spirit in the Sky” is a story about brave men and women that have fought, and are fighting, for the right to be RESPECTED and LOVED for the person you are. It hasn’t always been easy to be the «different one» in a society/community/group (something Fred, Tom and Alexandra can relate to). According to pre-Christian Sami religion, the people had helping spirits. These could be in the shape of an animal, called Sáivu-loddi or Sáivu-sarvvát. So they wrote a story set in Sápmi many years ago, where a person is calling upon hers/his helping spirit for extra strength in a difficult situation. With the joik the singer try to convey the feelings that the Sami have gone through, having been discriminated against for hundreds of years. The song also contains a Sami stanza: “Čajet dan čuovgga”. It is translated into “Show me the light”.
According to a newspaper I read, KEiiNO beat second place by about 70.000 votes. Thats crazyyyyy. I was also there live, and the atmosphere was so wonderful! Everyone screamed and danced and cheered! It was awsome! VOTE FOR US GUYS!
From mid 1800 century till after second world war the Norwegian society tried to eradictate Sami culture through forcing them to give up their religion and language, thats why i like this song so much, empowerment!! And this apply to every person on this planet, regarding religion, sexsuality, gender and skin color 🌈👍
I won an instagram competition that Morland held! (i won 2 tickets) I was live in Spektrum Oslo When KEiiNO won and they were Amazing 😍, everyone in the arena screamed When they performed, such an Amazing atmosphere 😍 My favorites are Ingrid, Morland, D’sound and KEiiNO
To anyone's whose confused the 3rd man is sami. The sami is indigenous scandinavians who originated in Mongolia came via Siberia. They moved on to populate Greenland and northern Canada as Inuits and therefore is the first to discover North America. The original Mongolian/Siberian people also traveled east into north america and met the Inuit and became the people we now call native Americans when they travelled south. The song style is not ancient Norwegian or viking language. It is yojk. A proud form of long distant communication used by the sami for untold decades.
KEiiNO - Spirit In The Sky From Norway Is The Winner Of ESC 2019. This Is The Best Song Of This Year. This Song that Made of Stardust has everything in it, is relaxing, inspiring, magical, Makes us fly on the wings of imagination, and it Reminds us of all the great songs that have won Eurovision Song Contest over the last decade, such as Heroes, Teardrops & Euphoria. This song can realy win it all. ❤️❤️❤️
Each year the winner conditions next year's entries in many different ways. If this amazing song wins, maybe some countries will include more ethnic sounds and folks in their next year's entries! A big back to roots and eurovision essence!! 🙌🙏
this is the language of the Norwegian Sami Indians, and the language is joik the soil in the joik is a very personal part very intimate for him, for us it can mean nothing, it may even be funny for some people, but for him it has a lot of meaning (example: it's like a prayer you alone talking to God in the your room.).
It's kautokaino and Norway's song and the Norway song wut ever you thot it is it's joik we joik in Sámi yes i am from Sámi thank you 🇳🇴 sorry not to god at ingles😅
0:53 What was said in that video and what you "repeated" was *completely* different things. 3:04 Nope, not Norwegian at all, it's Sami. Basically the native population of Northern Norway. Their language isn't even Indo-European, so yeah. quite a different culture although there's of course a large degree of cultural exchange between them and us. And it's named "Joik" en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joik
The Sami people is the native people of Norway, they have their own way of singing thats called joik, where they sing sounds like they are a object. They havent been treated well by the Norwegians and in 1994 or something the KING siad sorry to them (!)

You are absolutely delusional if you think she is very bad. She has a very clean comfortable voice. You can even hear how in control she is of her voice.
@@Танюха-д7б there are ALWAYS someone in the world better at something. Doesn't mean that she is bad at singing just because there are better singers out there. You just don't prefer her voice. It's a huge difference.
The language you are asking about is Sami to the indigenous people of Scandinavia. The singingform is called joik.
Well not scandinavia, but Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia
Well we got that bit dear
Its not a language.
@@cookiecola5852 what is it then?
@@johanvryvig6673, a joik is just a song, which consists of no language.

3:00 That's called a joik (pronounced "yoik"). It's a Sami music tradition. Last time Norway sent joik to Eurovision was in 1980.
