Leatherman has removed the wire crimpers from the tti. Right now we're in a transitional period where you might get one with it or one without depending on where you buy it
Thanks for a great review. I have charge tti by the way. A bit expensive but really worth it. Unlike my surge, accidentally Drop tti many times but the titanium thing hold up everything very well.
Thanks for watching! They are all good tools!
Those "rivets" look exactly like the screws that Leatherman used in the PST, and still use in the Supertool 300, Rebar and other products... they even have the gnurled edge for grabbing them with pliers.
You don't want to grab them with pliers.....there is a special tool called a parcing tool.
Great video.
That was extremely well thought out and informative for a “quick and dirty review” lol. I really enjoyed the comparison, thanks for sharing.
Very nice, informative, video, Thanks.
Thank you I’m glad that you found it helpful!
Good review. It helped my decision
I don't know maybe it's just me, I'm always tempted by the Ti material.
The "rivets" aren't rivets they are screws and you need a "parse wrench" to unscrew/screw them !
The visibility of the G10 is a plus too. Maybe someone would prefer a more discrete one, but probably the color is what you want when you are you drop the tool for a moment, for sure will catch your eye. Can the tti be painted?
Love the Leatherman tools.
Hard to go wrong with any of these, but we can still have favorites. Thanks for the support!
@Jeffery Bradley why comment hear
8:40 no wire crimper in the tti Model 2022 anymore, i bought one.
Sweet.
Love my tti with s30v but my daily it’s a wave +.
I agree I don’t feel bad beating on the wave! The charge can take it but I tend to be a little nicer. To it. Thanks for watching!
Hi , great review!!!! Well done 👍. Can I ask though, I’ve just got a New G10 Charge, & noticed that I have 7 spare bits + 1 in the tool aswell. Is this just for the G10 or do the other charge models come with the same ????
That’s a good question. All of these came with 6 + the one in the tool, not sure why they don’t give you a full sleeve.
Thanks for watching!
I’m looking at this model. I’m Canada but not sure which to get seems similar but knife blade
Metal.
Cool.
I guess the charge uses rivets because hard anodized aluminum doesn’t have high enough friction, and screws would easily get loose. I had coffee grinder with hard anodized alu threads and even if they are tightened up, they get loose from the shake of simply grinding coffee all the time.
interesting thought, I'd think they could alleviate this with simple locktight. someone else said the rivet heads are threaded so the tool can still be taken apart.
I guess I just thought it was odd they used two different fastening methods, seems like it would have been more efficient to just use the same fasteners on all of their products.
@@gearsNtools Truly. I opted for the G10 version just because of that. 154CM is good enough for me, but I would like to self-service the tool.
@@gearsNtools they aren’t actually rivets. They are knurled screws that are held together with Loctite. Exactly the same function as the tti screws, just with a different screw head.
@@Kelsmith2 Do you know which key to use?
@@sespolito2425order something online called a parce tool or parcing tool
I believe it deserves a mention that the colored handles are probably getting easily a lot of scratches
Nope ... the G10 is hard as nails. Titanium is also a champ. On the other hand, the annodized aluminum ...
How is the centering of the tools on yours. Is g10better then TTi? My file and saw alway scratch the handles when closing. No one really talks about the centering on multitool reviews, but I think its quite important.
Good question! These seemed to be good. My friends TTI file rubs on the inside of his handle, very possible he bent it thru heavy use though.
@@gearsNtools I will answer to my own question. Unfortunately its all very "uncentered "on my Earth G10. I am really surprised no one is talking about it. The G10 handles are flexing a lot so some rub is expected. My black oxide on pliers, main knife is already very scratched . . but really only from opening and closing, not from using . . .grrr. I usually do care about my tools but these get damaged by themselves. Very surprised about it, but hey, at the end..its a tool and no showcase piece however I was very surprised its wonky and china like tolerance. Do not expect Victorinox / Sebenza kind of PRO tool. Its a tool, cool looking one. Maybe because its my first black oxide I did not expected it wears so easy. I did got used to it and like it so far. BUt for the price . . my TTi is even more appreciated now...;-)
I have owned a charge al for years and the file rubs on the sides from day one.
It must be a flaw on Leathermans.
I own the Tti, all you need is two t10 security bits and adjust. I dialed my Charge in good.
hello I have a problem with my leatherman plus TTI 832528 charge, I noticed that there was a little play on the Titanium pallet on the 8 screws which hold it, I can move the pallets by hand by 0.5mm , I wonder if it's normal, if I have to tighten them or it's normal, if someone can help me please, a known problem?
It should be: charge tti VS charge al VS charge + g10
Love the scissors on my Wave. I find they work best when using the thumb to cut, not the index finger.
They are better scissors than most multi tools. The paracord test is a hard one for scissors it this but flexible they have to grab it so it doesn’t slip out.
Hard to choose between g10 or tti. I think tti will last longer but i don't like the needle on tti version. I like that g10 is lighter and it has better grip but i don't know if it will last long
I agree the time seems a little tougher but g10 is pretty tough too. The needle nose pliers is what pushed me to the G10 as my fav.
Thanks for watching!
The Charge+ is NOT riveted together, those are bolts. They unscrew, I have taken these apart to customize them. You must’ve said rivet 10x in this video & that is incorrect
what key did you use?
@@sespolito2425it is called a parse wrech
which is the best steel among the 3, the one that stays sharper and is more resistant? and the surge is better than the charge ?
The Charge TTI has S30V steel which is going to be your best knife steel.
The Charge Series is the size of the Wave and the Surge is a larger tool than those. if you need a bigger tool go with the surge.
Blade steel on the surge is 420HC steel but it is a bigger knife.
@@gearsNtools which is the best charge between the charge g10, the plus, and the titanium in your opinion
@@andreagalli2700
Personally if I could only have one I'd probably go with the Charge TTI
Hallo!
I think The charge + dont have rivets..it also got screw....are particular heads screws, but thei are screw. Like PST or supertool 300 for example.
You can unscrew them with 2 plyers, but they arent pressure-rivets.
I wondered about that. Still odd they didn’t use torq screws like the other 2 models
@@gearsNtools yes...torx screw are best...
I dont like rivets like Victorinox spirit...but i like Victorinox spirit in general...now Im waiting for a charge g10 orange....in canary Island.
I order 2 days ago from Spain...i think 10/15 days to have it!
!!!!171 Euro!!!! But its cool!!
Titanium is more durable than G10. I love my tti
You might want to correct the spelling of Leatherman in the title.
Im sure someone will end up making after market g10 scales for the charge. Or even brass or copper.
I might have to take a stab at it and share. It here on the channel, wouldn’t be too hard. Good idea thanks for sharing!
It’s been done...least with TTI versions. Various scales (wood, other metals, etc) and those with damascus (damasteel) blades. Shouldn’t be a stretch to do on G10 versions?
6:26 that's not a metal saw, it's an edge file. Only Victorinox tools come with a proper metal saw on the file...you're the first one I've heard call this this one a metal saw.
I’ve used then to trim bolts and stuff down before. Not gonna break out of prison with that edge file but it works for small jobs in a pinch.
Thanks for watching!,
