    Question: To getta bridge mode you have to phase shift one channel, would just reversing polarity (i.e. hook it up backwards) on one channel effectively invert the phase of that channel? If that does work would you wanna do it on the on the input side or the output side?

      I am trying to bridge outputs to an old tube-type desktop radio, too, using a small amp board with Bluetooth on board. I know how to hook up a single channel (using the radio's phono input), but I can't figure out a clear-cut answer (including in this video) about how to combine the L and R outputs into one. Any tips?

    So no problem to parallel connection for a BTL amplifier (class D)? Same (identical) input signal to the L and R input and then parallel the outputs? No power gains, but improved lower impedance performance?

    hey thanks for the informative vid on the class D amps John.
    im a bit of a newcomer here for the last few months but i do enjoy the fact you go into detail and i learn a thing or two.
    i do have a question though, would i be able to use two of these class D amps by means of stacking (bit of a car audio term i think) ?
    i have one sanwu class D and im wondering if i could purchase another to improve my output.
    Thanks -

    Say I built 2 of the exact same amplifiers and bridged their outputs. Could I just invert the signal of one of the inputs through an inverting op amp with no gain? I would test this but I don’t have an oscilloscope yet.

    I saw in video on that and used four 0.1 ohm resistors to level the current for the tda7297.
    But I have seen someone instructed to parallel without the four resistors.
    So my question is if this chip can be parallel connected without adding resistors??
    Someone told that there is enough of resistors in the chip itself!
    Can that be measured somehow that it works out for tda7297 without problems?
    I am waiting for my two tda7297 to be delivered and plan to use one for each channel. And the speakers I plan to use dips down to 4 ohm at two occasions in the frequency span.
    So parallel each amp so they're driving one speaker each is my plan.

    So just put a .1 ohm resistor in series with both the right and left channel + out of the board and then hook them together to the load? Use one channel or both channel grounds hooked together as the - ground?

    Have a question ??? New to Class D amps. Im using a class D Amp with a 12 - 24 Volt DC power supply for my home speakers. The amp is rated at 100 watts per ch at 4 ohms. The speakers are 8 ohms , so does that reduce the output to 50 watts per ch. Into the speakers ??? Happy your dad is doing well 👍

    • @JohnAudioTech
      @JohnAudioTech  3 года назад

      Actual power (per channel) depends on the supply voltage. At 12v, max clean power is around 8 watts @ 8 ohms and 15w @4. At 24v, it is around 28w @ 8 ohms and 50w @4. 100 watts into 4 ohms is marketing fluff unless the amp can run on at least 30-32 volt supply.

  • @ergindemir7366
    @ergindemir7366 4 года назад

    I did the same exact test with TDA7377, and the power consumption suddenly exploded and the heatsink got hot. Normally you expect the opposite, since the amps see double the impedance, they should work more efficiently. Do you have an explanation why?

    • @JohnAudioTech
      @JohnAudioTech  4 года назад +1

      Sorry for the late reply. Probably one of two things. 1) phasing was reversed when the output is wired up. 2) Input signal is not perfectly balanced. (you can't feed it a stereo signal. it must be the exact same signal going to both channels)

    please tell me if I have a car stereo with 4x25w output , can i use it as 2+1 amp ? How to bridge the two back outputs to drive a subwoofer ?

    • @JohnAudioTech
      @JohnAudioTech  7 лет назад +1

      Each channel would already be in bridged configuration. Use a dual voice coil sub and connect one channel to one side and the other channel to the other side. You would need a low pass filter for each channel as well. Car stereos are usually rated at 4 ohms, so use subwoofer with each coil rated at 4 ohms.

    Hello my surround speaker of my AV Receiver gone bad. Its rating is 8ohms 50watts. Can I replaced it with a 4ohms 120watts? As indicated in the unit. Need your expert advise. Thanks in advance.

    • @johncoops6897
      @johncoops6897 7 лет назад

      You need the speaker to be the same as the matching speaker on the other rear channel. Nobody can answer your question, as you are the only one who can check the specifications of your own AV Receiver (the one in your own house) and read whether it can accept 4 ohm speakers on the rear channels. You can check this yourself.

    • @JohnAudioTech
      @JohnAudioTech  7 лет назад

      I'd try for an oem replacement. A different speaker will have different parameters and may change the sound. Otherwise, I'd stay with 8 ohms as most AV receivers would be rated at that. Impedance may be stated on the back of the receiver near the speaker terminals.
