- Arsenal completed a dramatic late comeback to earn three points in a frantic encounter with in-form Wolves.
Despite raining the shots in throughout the 90 minutes, Hwang Hee-Chan's first-half strike had looked to be decisive for a resolute Wolves side - until our late turnaround.
With 10 minutes remaining Substitute Nicolas Pepe spun and finished well inside the box to draw us level. But more drama was to follow.
As the game entered injury-time, added on due to Wolves' time-wasting, captain Alexandre Lacazette fired in off the keeper at the near post to send the Emirates crowd into raptures.
It felt like a big moment in the race for European qualification.
It was a lively start that set the tone for the whole match. Gabriel Martinelli went down in the area inside the first two minutes, but it was a fair challenge, before Romain Saiss had the ball in the net for the visitors, only to be flagged offside.
Within a few minutes though Wolves did have one that counted. Gabriel - who scored the only goal of the game two weeks ago at Molineux - was the villain this time. His backpass went straight to Hwang, and the South Korean scored from a tight angle.
Raul Jimenez had a great chance to double the lead shortly afterwards after being set up by the influential Daniel Podence, but rolled his shot just wide.
The Gunners needed to respond. Alexandre Lacazette fired into the side netting from close range before Martin Odegaard had shot blocked inside the area after superb work from Bukayo Saka.
Saka himself had the next attempt, but his shot was well charged down after he beat the offside trap. Lacazette had a shot from long distance easily saved, then pulled one back for Gabriel Martinelli to stab over.
It was all Arsenal, but the well organised Wolves defence were standing firm.
The first chance of the second half fell to Wolves. Hwang sprinted through, threaded his shot through the legs of Aaron Ramsdale, but mercifully past the upright.
Saka had a couple of shots blocked, but the congested Wolves penalty area was proving difficult to breach.
Lacazette was the next to try his luck, but rather snatched at his shot on the turn.
His next effort was better, but this time Jose Sa parried it away for a corner as we kept up the pressure going into the final 20 minutes.
Then finally, with our 23rd shot of the evening, Pepe spun and fired home from Eddie Nketiah's cutback.
It was no more than we deserved, and finally we had just under ten minutes to find a winner.
Odegaard's shot over and Saka had a low shot saved and that looked to be that. But Lacazette had other ideas, and after firing a powerful effort at Sa, the ball was diverted home for a precious late winner.

Prettiest goal in the league this week.

What a finish from Pepe 🔥 Reminds me of the Bergkamp finish against Newcastle all those years ago
I made that link too!

not similar at all but brilliant improvisation
At the time where we could hardly accept a draw, but then we kept fighting so hard and be rewarded at the very end
I'm so proud of these boys. COYG!
Odegaaaaaard! Played role in both the goals. He has a vision while he's in possession
One of the hardest victory of our season thus far. Well done boys 😤 Top 4 by any means necessary 🔥
*Top 4
Both games against wolves were the hardest.
Really like the fact that Pepe came in and engineered the 2 goals. The second one really showed how he made the runs and put on a really nice assist. Hopefully he won't be scapegoat again when he gets a considerable playtime in the future.
He was our top score last season though. What he lacks is how to defend
Pepe had a great goal against Wolves last season , he can be our Wolves Killer
@@boy5412 Second highest… Lacazette had one more
Arteta needs to create space for pepe especially this period that Arsenal needs goals
Arteta has made all players understand that the game is a team game and not about one single player making a name for himself. É.g Sanchez. I'm glad we have a TEAM now!
One day when we have a fantastic team based on talent/ability (not just potential) this comment will be GOATed
Eg.2. Ozil 🥊
@@ishanttidke8198 Ozil is teamwork player, but he have less work rate. That's the reason why he not suitable for high pressing gameplay

The papa's team really deserved a win,,, what a comeback,,, thats why I have never left arsenal since 1985❤️❤️❤️
That turn from Pepe. He's exceptional but the whole team played well. They kept pushing for the win and gave us the big smile. Big up and keep it up!

Elite mentality from the team for not giving up when they went behind 🙌❤️❤️
Look at Odegaard! What a player 💪🏻
What a comeback by the team tonight, massive win for the race for UCL. Mikel Arteta has totally turned around the mentality of the squad and has changed the culture of this club. Back him and believe in him, great subs and tactics
Brilliant. Shout out to our team. Always try your best at all times, even if you only see a small ray of light. What a sensational match, Arsenal!
Most important win of the season so far! Amazing mental strength! 🔴⚪️❤️
This was an amazing game, I will never forget this day!
I say it all the time. Pepe has to start. His deicison making in the final third is better than any of the other players we have. I love Martinelli but he is not there yet and we cannot rely on him to take us to 4th. Give hin game time but don't put too much pressure on him, give him time to grow. Pepe and Laca are who we should be looking to as a senior player to take us forward.
I say a 4123 formation with Partey DM, ESR and Odegaard the central 2 (since odegaard is basically a CM as he’s involved all over the pitch, Saka left, Pepe right and Martinelli up front. This lineup has pace, creativity and youthful energy all in one
@@warrengichana1845 no one hold the ball up front better than Lacazette.
No Pepe shouldn’t start yet that’s not how you manage players like Pepe you keep him on the bench and bring him on his direct running is useful for games that are getting a bit flat it builds his confidence when he can run at tiring defenders like the end of last season when he was being used as a sub he was far better than when he starts
@@banuaktbdg3904 and that holding ball give calm to winger and provide them the time to create space. Unmoveable for this season
@@warrengichana1845 laca is frustrating but at the moment if u remove him it’ll collapse martinelli isn’t ready to do a cf Job his dribbling is ok but he’s a bit rash and doesn’t make the right decision at crucial moments
What a massive win from the lad, this is elite mentality, committed young player....a big shout to Arteta, he is gradually changing the mindset of the doubters...I always knew he was the right coach for us...1 transfer window, and we will be consider as title contender...COYG
This is the best last minutes goals ever.. So proud of the team for keep fighting till the end!!.. Up the Arsenal ❤😍
It was a hard fought victory for the Gunners against an in form Wolves team. They literally grinded to the last whistle to earn the three points. Since the start of 2020, they had practically won every single match in the EPL. Only dropping 2 vital points in the home game against Burnley, despite totally dominating that game. They look really promising for a top 4 finish this season. I personally would tip them to finish third come end May, ahead of both Chelsea and Manchester United.
Both results against Wolves were excellent, good team Wolves. I don't think we'll overhaul Chelsea but 4th is on our own hands now. Next week we play Watford the same day as the Manc derby, we should go fourth. Dang this league is tough now, so many good teams now, and Norwich....
@@darthwiizius Third is well within reach for us. Given the inconsistency of Chelsea this season, it is very likely that we are able to supercede them. Further, unlike Chelsea, we are not involved in any other cup commitments.
What amazed me mostly about this match was the synergy and the "CAN DO SPIRIT" which the boys maintained from the very first minute to 98 minutes. Arsenal will go far next season with this kind of spirit.
Thank U so much Guys!!!
Beautiful moment ❤️ happy to see our captain scoring 😍😍
This is what we are, this is the Arsenal of the fighter 🔥🔥🔥
Pepe looks so good and he loves a goal against wolves doesn't he.
Arsenal wanted it more they showed passion and heart

Laca is the last whistle killer!
I am Man utd fan, to be honest i love so much Arsenal playing style because it's very entertaining
Yesterday tonight i watced the game with my friend who is Arsenal fan and he was very upset about the equaliz and he complained about dropping two points, however i told him i feel good and confident that Arsenal will take the lead and he responded me " are you crazy, the last whistle is very soon,it's already over the game" as soon as Laca scored the lead goal and he jumped, hugged me and asked how did you khow that
i responded him if you feel good and confident about something which means the result is there
But sorry to my English
it's not good
Both Arsenal goals were beautiful
Xhaka was so good and Good in his passes, odegaard good too and pepe used all his strength in this game
So happy for Pepe and Laca. Keep going up guys

The last time I got this feeling as a gooner when we beat Leicester 2-1, in season where we finished 2nd. I can see Arsenal players now have that mentality and passion to fight for Champions league spot 🤞
And also credit for the team, especially for Laca and Odegaard
A meaningful victory that came at the times of need. Let’s continue this good atmosphere and secure a Champions League spot, so that we can keep Bukayo Saka at Emirates.

Great to see the desire and real passion for the shirt from the players. That is all we can ask for or demand might be a better description. I loved the effort and display getting the goals helped lol but I could see how much it meant to them. Praise for Xhaka proper controlled aggression
What I love the most, is how Arteta has succeeded in installing the "we against the world" mentality to the boys. Given time, support from the fans and 2-3 additions, I think this team has all the potentials of bringing back the happy days to the fans.
