DbD is a competitive game at heart (since it's PvP) so why would it be weird to have tournaments ? Anything with competition in it can and usually will have tournaments. Heck, despite eating not being a competitive thing somehow eating contests are a thing, so in comparison PvP games having tournaments isn't weird at all.
