Lol... Cyano, alk spike, rtn, gallons and gallons going in and out. I even had a brief power outage today as some storms rolled thru STL to add to it all! This thing is trying to kill me but I'm still here!
I use to use red sea pro but my alk spiked to 14-15 testing with salifert test kits. Switched to fritz about a year ago and have been very happy. I’ve been in the hobby with salt and reef since late 70’s. Even us old timers make mistakes from time to time. I still dose manually as i have a problem with dosing equipment that can fail due to malfunctioning. Makes it easier and consistent for sure but if it fails you can wipe out an entire tank over night. So i still do alot old school.
A cheap alternative is to still use instant ocean and use muriatic acid to lower dkh. Comes out to still be cheaper than switching salts. Beautiful reef btw!
I am lucky to have 3+ LFS's within a 30 min drive of me that regularly put boxes of Fritz on sale. I tend to pay $5-10 more for Fritz than regular IO depending on who has the sale that week.
I have lost a lot of smaller colonies and frags. Most of the time I can tell before they go as the coral will look "dry" for a few days. I have been dosing aminos to help that but of course doing that raises nutrients. Never ending cycles...
Never had any help with chemiclean, but have used the red slime remover and that shit worked 👍🏻, I always see people with sand have that issue , since I got rid of mine never again!!
This 180 has been up since summer of 2015. In late 2016 I rebooteded the left 1/3 of it by removing everything on that side and acid washing the rock to restart it. Pest zoas had over run it. After this video was taken I pretty much rebooted the right 1/3 side. Stay tuned for updates on its progress!
Its summer time and mistakes are being made....
BIZ - THE tank look phenomenal considering that you went through a cyano issue. Keep us posted.

Looks great!! Great info 😊👍🏽
Still looking fantastic despite your issues! I also use instant ocean... How much extra is the Fritz salt per box?

We all make mistakes... tank looks good !
I think I'm going to fritz for my next water change 🤞
Dope tank
Biz I’m dealing with the same thing right now. My alk swung and I lost some of my biggest colonies.

You can use muriatic acid to lower alkalinity fyi.
Very true!!! Fritz fits pretty well out the box tho. Keeping it simple.
Never had any help with chemiclean, but have used the red slime remover and that shit worked 👍🏻, I always see people with sand have that issue , since I got rid of mine never again!!
That's why the BTA tank is bare bottom. I like wrasses so that's why I'll always have one display with sand.
How old your tank?

What is your light schedule. How many hours in blues and how many hours in whites
I run AB+ from 1PM - 10PM @ 46%. Wide angles. A bank of Coral plus and blue+ bulbs come on to peak for 3 hrs.
Bruh! Nice tank...
Thanks! I am a fan of yours as well!
The reefing YT community is so chill. Keep up the great work my man.
