on every road where the top speed limit is higher then 50 km/h or outside a town or village scooters are required to drive on bike paths in the netherlands. I don't mind since we have an excellent bycicle infrastructure here.
i drilled 3 holes in the back of the muffler, about 3/8" diameter. Drill one hole at a time until you reach your desired level of performance and noise.
it's a 2006, all stock (minus some holes drilled in the exhaust). Any scooter is good for a beginner, although these chinese bikes do tend to break down a lot, so it helps to have some mechanical skills. I've got a full review video of these scooters on my channel if you're interested.
Did you have to add oil after that ride? I've got a 150cc GY6 that let's me ride her as hard as I need to for about 25 minutes, but she appreciates about a 15 minute smoke break between the next 25 minutes. Can you ride your 50cc that hard all day long?
I just got my scooter, and I learned a lot from watching you drive around Florida! Im in tampa, and wanted to ask you, I saw you driving on the highway bike lane, is that the best place to drive, is that legal I mean, we have bike lanes all over tampa now and it would be nice to be out of the way of the semis. And I am guessing its legal to drive on the highway, correct? Mine is a 50cc scooter, thanks for your help!
technically you're right, but i've never been pulled over for riding in the bike lane. I'm not going to put myself in a more dangerous situation by riding in traffic if there's an empty bike lane to ride in.
I didn't think we were allowed to ride on any bike path things here in Florida? Although going over the causeways to Merrit Island is sketchy at best...
my bike is all stock (except for some holes i drilled in the exhaust). It cruises at 40mph comfortably. The speedometer is very inaccurate. It reads much faster than the actual speed.
Riding a motor scooter in the bike lane is technically illegal in florida, but i've never had any trouble from the police in 3 years+ of scooter riding. I usually only use the bike lane on roads where the going pace is faster than the scooter's top speed, to avoid being run down LOL.
ooh im glad u showed this video..thank u so much, im thinking of buying a scooter and i know it sounds silly but i wasnt sure just how to ride it on the road, u know and be proper and not have issues i dunno...thanks!
I have a 50cc classic Honda MB5 that can hit 55 MPH! Some of these 50cc bikes are so well engineered and geared, that they can hit the highway speed limit! Coincidentally, I also have a Honda CT70 clone made by Lifan, mainly the 110GY-3. 110cc motor, but can only do about 45 MPH due to the design of the bike and the lousy gearing. Love the Lifan though.. it's made very well for a Chinese bike.
I always run my scooter at full throttle/ top speed and I have never had to add oil. In the few thousand miles that I have owned it, I have never had to add oil between oil changes.
i opened up the exhaust and the air filter box by drilling holes in them. Top speed is about 47 mph in reality. The speedometer is so inaccurate that it's basically useless.
I have a Derbi Atalntis with a 96cc cylnder, 21mm DellOrto and TK expansion chamber that was originally for a Yamaha Aerox 100 that I converted to fit to Derbi motor.
Brother idk if you even respond. But i have a transpro aviator, gy6 150cc and a italica maxima gy6 150. I already took them to key west and back to miami christmas 2023. I plan to go to saint augustine via US1, mostly A1A when I can. Any tips if possible?
150cc should be plenty of power for that trip. You could probably do it a whole day easily. A1a kinda crazy till you get north of palm beach county and then it's smooth sailing
i stopped a few times in the video to explain the locations. Basically i rode north on route A1A from Stuart, Fl to Port Saint Lucie, Fl, and then south down US1
Alex's Bikes and Motors East Ocean Blvd to Sewell's Point Rd./Indian River Dr. to Walton Rd., I've driven it MANY TIMES since I moved to the area in 1979. My wife used to work at Seacoast Nat'l. Bank just up the road from where you started your ride. Looks like you could use a little gas in your tank Alex. You make a huge error when you didn't stop @ Conchy Joes for some grub and a frosty cold beverage. IMHO Overall it's a great route for a bike ride. It was a beautiful January day (like the one in your video) back in 1979 that made me decide to pack up my belongings in N.J. after H.S. graduation and move to the area. We love it here and would never ever consider moving back. We live in the Western part of town, in a section known as Oak Hammock. Years ago we had Bobcat, Red Fox, Gopher Tortoises and other wild animals. While there's not as many around today, it's still a very nice area to live in. Thanks for sharing your ride with us Alex. Tommy
I kinda want a scooter, but a 150cc that looks like a 50cc. One of my bud never has trouble with the cops because he keeps it at 35mph and on the country roads hits 60 mph all day. lol. But another side of me is telling me I should just save 1k more and buy a Kawasaki Ninja 250R. I just want to ride, idc what but it would be smart to wait I guess. ARGG, the agony!
It's not good for the engine to ride on full throttle, avoid doing it for long times because you're going to jam the piston into the cylinder. Else than that - I enjoyed the video, thank you. Keep making such videos, about scooters please!
+Alex's Bikes and Motors This means that the engine is pretty strong! Still not good to do it though. Does it overheat when you continuously ride on full throttle?
+Rumen Kostoff no it can't overheat because it's cooled by a fan that runs at engine speed, so it keeps cool at any rpm. I agree it's probably not ideal to run at full throttle but you don't always have a choice when top speed is 42mph. The bike is a Lifan 50cc, not sure of the exact model
I am saying what the fuck is going to happen to this moped's engine (and any other) if he goes on with riding on full throttle. It's just luck or maybe strong engine what has prevented this from happening so far.
I'm about ready to buy one of these is it issues riding on the street in Florida do you have to ride in the bike lane and if there is no bike lane what do you do when the speed limit is above 50 because where I live most of the roads are 50 to 55
riding a scooter in the bike lane is technically illegal and you shouldn't do it. I just didn't want to hold up traffic on the bridge. If the road has multiple lanes, ride in the right lane. If there is only 1 lane you've gotta ride with traffic and people will just have to go around lol.
I have a choice between getting a 50cc and a 250cc but the 250cc I need a motorcycle license for do you think it's just better to get the 50cc brand new the 250cc is used
@@michaelcarney6688 I would go with the 250cc. There is also a 150cc version of these GY6 scooters too which will cruise 55mph no problem. The difference in power is huge compared to a 50cc. And even though you need a motorcycle license to ride a scooter bigger than 50cc, I'm pretty sure you can buy and register one without an mc license. So you could just ride around on the 250 with a regular license and if you get stopped by the cops pretend like you didn't know. You'll probably get a warning lol
@@michaelcarney6688 These chinese Gy6 scooters are all basically the same just different names, so go with whatever is cheapest. If you're looking to spend a little more go with Kymco or Sym, they're kinda middle of the road. Honda and Yamaha make the best scooters but they're also the most expensive.
Neat! Starts right up and goes right through stop signs without stopping! ;-)
Thank you for sharing. I have a Chinese GY6 125cc here in Scotland, love it, nice to ride at speeds you can appreciate the places you ride through.
Some reason i love the sound of scooters. Kinda makes me tired if thats not weird lmfao
its the exhaust dronr probably
Decent amount of speed for a 4 stroke.

+David Collins you're welcome
i drilled 3 holes in the back of the muffler, about 3/8" diameter. Drill one hole at a time until you reach your desired level of performance and noise.
Ha! You're little scooter is killing that speedometer!
:D

Watch the fuel gauge.
fuel gauge probably doesn't work
Neither the speedometer...
Definitely want to see more of this! Thanks for the upload.
you're welcome. Have fun with your scooter!
yeah these modern scooters with the cvt transmission have excellent acceleration and top speed.
HOLY SHIT! this is so weird! I live here! :D

Your are wrong, because on that scooter model it shows Km/H
these scooters have decent suspension and tires so they can handle potholes pretty well
The speed monitor lmao!
Cool looks like a refreshing ride.
is your fuel gauge not working? i saw it was at empty the whole time you were riding. Thank you for the video, i grew up in florida, love it there.
This thing goes pretty good. Do anything to make it go faster?
the speedometer has already been killed. In reality, the bike tops out at around 42mph

i dont think its legal where i live, but cops understand it's much safer than impeding traffic
yeah i'm going to get a new exhaust on there and start from there :)
cool ride bro. nice little toy
Thank you very much for the info, I am going to put it to good use! Thanks again!
Cant wait to I get my scooter !

Hello From Montreal, Ca.
Great Videos, We appreciate the videos.
Is it Legal to drive a scooter in the bicycle lane in FL?
+delace1111 it's technically illegal but i've never gotten into any trouble
It is illegal here, but nobody cares about legality around here except a few of us.

I rode from Stuart, FL to Port Saint Lucie, FL. The road continues much further north though.
all air cooled, 4 stroke, single cylinder engines sounds similar.
The bike goes about 43mph at full speed. And i didn't buy it off a website, I bought it used from a private seller
I'm from holland and last summer i was there where you are driving :D GREEETZ
I can't stand when people only use one mirror instead of two, maybe it's not required but OCD MAN FECKIN' OCD!!!
He must drive with one eye closed too.
yep xD
I prefer 2 mirrors too, but I bought the bike with only 1 mirror and I didn't want to buy a whole new set.
What year is your moped? Is it all stock? Im planning to buy a moped that's why. Is this a good moped for beginners?
cool little scooter, looks like my eton beamer 50 picked up on CL for $150...same color scheme.
From were to were is that highway. Looks like Cali a bit

My Ruckus only stops at 45 because of the rev limit on the factory CDI.

Cant wait until im 16 just one more year and I can get a 50cc scooter to blast about on XD
That's an impressive top speed for a 50cc 4 stroke. What have you done to it?

are these legal without a dl?
in my state you half to be atleast 14 and take a skills class. it may vary where you live
In Florida, you need a regular driver's license only. You don't need a motorcycle endorsement.

stock exhaust, but with a few small holes drilled in the silencer.
If that is a 50cc then how is it burying the speedometer so damn fast? Big Bore Kit installed?
Speedometer didnt work right. The bike is all stock.
the gauge doesn't work. I judge fuel level by looking into the tank.
Even on empty I'm sure it would run a while.
what u change to make your scooter go faster?
i opened up the exhaust and the air filter box
*****
it is 4 stroke
I think you had a BBK exhaust very loud
Cool video man i give this a thumbs up does your moped go 60mph
+TheRAYMAN121 about 42 mph
+Alex's Bikes and Motors oh because it looks like it goes 60 or past 60 and are you planing on getting a bigger piston install into it like an 80cc
Those might not be miles, but kiloemeters. It looks to be going 70. If it's 70km that would be equal about 42-43mph.
nice I'm 14 and got my license and a 2012 50cc moped
u don't have to have a permit or insurance or a tag or license plate to ride right?
Any problems with cops? Is it legal to drive scooter on highway ?
Vladimir S It's illegal to ride on the highway because the scooter is less than 5hp. All other roads are legal.
'They all think they're hard' haha!
live like a mile away from you!
I have question i m living in here in Florida what type of drive license are you using A B C D E for driving a scooter
a regular E driver license
I love this video thanks so much :D

That 50cc is fast 👨
