Rod Lewis great video!! I’m currently experiencing the similar problem on my 2014 Mazda 6, with error code P0882 on it. (TCM power input signal low) I cleared it after a week(after parked 3 days) the engine light came on again. I’m confused why after I cleared the error code it drives like almost normal, the only difference is the transmission’s response is slow than before little bit, shifting gears not fast as before, especially when driving on hill. I wonder if i can replace the TCM like you did and can you send me the link that I can buy the TCM, thank you
Hello Rod! I'm so appreciate your time for uploading this video, but one thing I would like to know, after replacing the TCM with a used or new one, did you reprogram it or not? Best regard,
Thank you for creating a clear-cut instructional video how to replace the TCM. I had to have my car towed to a transmission shop and they gave me a high estimate do this for me. I'm going to work on it myself! I'm a DIY gal at heart and luckily I used to help run my father's transmission shop so I know enough to be dangerous 😅 I'm off to find a reasonably priced TCM that I don't have to program. Thank you!
Piscesgyal26 Thank you for the kind words. When I was making this video I hoped it would help others out. I never thought it would be viewed 200K times. 😎 Good luck! Please note that the TCM doesn’t need to be programmed.
I own since new a 2009 Mazda 3 s hatchback 5 speed auto with 184,000 miles. I have been dumping money lately for suspension parts at all four corners and a trans module. I just got back from a 2000 mile Marathon trip in 50 hours. Car ran like a champ. Did not burn a drop of synthetic oil.
Mazda 3 2007 2.3L, stuck in 2nd gear. TCM ending in E cost just under $1000 new from Mazda dealerships. Took a couple hours to fix because some bolts were rusty and not experienced. Problem fixed. Engine Light & AT lights are now gone 👍 Thank you for the very helpful guide Rod Lewis!
Just letting you know your video helped me fix my daughter's car by showing me how to DIY replace the TCM. Everything was exactly as you showed. Thank you!
jcva1899 what does that fix the problem Mechanically I can understand electronically by replacing the part the tcm or PCM Power train control module AT Transaxle electrically fixing the problem mechanically meaning transaxle intermediate shaft differential how are those mechanical parts? The Computer can't just fix those of the broken internal
Phenomenal step by step video!! I used to own an '07 Mazda3 and know how difficult they are to work on and you make it look so elementary. I'm sure you make a headlight bulb replacement look like a stroll on the beach
Rod - your video is too great !! It's too bad the Mazda auto trans fix, or new replacement part ( L34T-18-9E1E) is so expensive ! Mazda should be aware by now that this is a long term reliability problem, and issue a TSB so Mazda dealers can rectify the problem without offering a very expensive transmission rebuild, or replacement unit as a possible solution ! My 2008 3 GT suffered the dreaded AT yellow light, and CEL (PO758) which cost $129 at a Mazda Dealer around 200K Kms - as a result of this malfunction and reliability issue, combined with the inability of the dealer to properly diagnose the problem, I will never purchase another Mazda product !
Thanks for the video. I got to the point where you disconnect the harness on my own and then couldn't figure out how to unlatch it. Your video worked perfect and saved me a lot of hassle. I had a P0758 Shift Solenoid B Electrical code. Solenoid checked out fine so this was the next step. Works fine so far. Bought a rebuilt TCM on Amazon for 300.00
God damn mazda dealer! They've told me I needed a new transmission when my AT light came on. It was only the TCM and and a transmission fluid change that my mazda needed. This mazda I have, will be my last one I own.
Hi I have mazda 3 2004 and I have same problem with AT light and my car doesn't go in 3rd gear it goes only in 2nd gear... I went to repair shop and he sad you need to replace new transmission...i am worried about it...could you plz help me
Thank you so much for this video, I just bought this 2007 Mazda 3 and AT lite and check Engine lite came on, lost 1st gear and won't shift into 4th or 5th gears. I am thinking the TCM may be bad also. I will run the code tomorrow and hope that the TCM is bad. Looks like a easy fix. Thanks again. :)
@@KingMateo575 no I had to by the Second and third gear solenoid’s inside the transmission oil pan. And that did fix the problem and been driving it ever since.
I did this. Bought mine off amazon. Mazda wanted $800 for part. Amazon was $400. Did this 3 years ago when car wouldnt shift above 3rd. Still working now
Thanks for this video. I had exact problem but I paid over $1k for the fix.. the part my shop ordered is new and costed $760.. but the car runs like normal.. I wish I could just try to order the part and attempt to fix my own, but I already brought my car to the shop prior finding a solution online.
Bummer. It was an easy fix. You sure could have done it yourself. I have had moms write me and thank me for this video. It helped them fix their daughters car. Really couldn’t imagine it would help so many people. I feel truly amazed it has been viewed as many times as it has.
My fiance's mazda 5 was having some issues (check engine light, AT light, shifting issues, and a P0753 code) and the mechanic said it was a failing TCM. The code indicates a bad shift solenoid A which could be caused by low trans fluid or dirty trans fluid so Im going to flush and replace trans fluid first and see what happens. will post results. Thanks for this helpful upload, I imagine the change on a mazda 5 would be very similar.
Rod Lewis, well you succeeded. I used it to rule out the TCM and replace the VSS. Something tells me the TCM will also become a problem, but replacing it isn't a daunting proposition anymore. Thanks again.
Been having the same symptoms, rough shifts, won’t go past third, at light comes on then turns off🤷🏻♂️ Just ordered a refurbished replacement Tcm from eBay. Error code kept saying output shaft sensor, but replaced it and still having the same symptoms. Been checking the internet and different forums, everyone’s saying it’s the tcm. So wish me luck boys, I’ll keep y’all updated 😂🫡
Glad you like. I write technical procedures as a part of my real job. Used those skills to try to make it short, sweet and to the point. No wasting anyones time. 😎
Great video, especially the part list. it was very helpful, I had the solenoids replaced and it did not rid the p0753 code. I removed the TCM today , and will install the new refurbished eBay one tomorrow. hopefully it works, I miss driving my hermosa.
Excellent Video! My sisters 2008 Mazda3 Grand Touring 2.3L has a U0101 code also and I had her order the Rev E module. I'm about to install it w/this videos help in about 2 hours, looks pretty easy!
Rod Lewis worked great! Took less than 30 mins and no codes at all once battery was hooked up. I drove her car and immediatley noticed loud wheel bearing drone from the right rear so I guess that's my next project
My father has one of these, his is 2006 mazda 2.3L, man, I'll tell you, this makes me appreciate my Saturn SL2 1.9L....lol Mazsa is a good car, don't get me wrong and hate on me but it's just so much easier to work on. Even with the mods I've added. My father's TCM is bad too, slams into third from fourth or fifth and the auto trans light comes on. it's a very expensive part to replace too. Anywhere from $400 to almost $800 bucks at the one mazda dealer in my area, just for the part....lol Oh, BTW, the engine has to be ice cold to truly test if it's fixed.
Nice video I have a 2007 Impala SS and no gear shift indicator was coming on and the car drives like your pulling a 10,000 lbs yacht. My speedo ramdomly works with traction control light on. Getting TCM replaced and flashed at the srealership.
I found one on amazon prime for $457. I just took my car into the shop but if they can't fix it, I'm gonna order this part and do it myself. Stay tuned...
Mechanic charged me $250 to tell me that my tcm was bad. He also wanted $950 to replace it. Ordered to part from amazon for $452.00. It will be here on Feb.3.
250 bucks to plug ODB2 reader and read a code? You could have bought a reader and did that yourself. Sorry to hear that you had to pay that much to get a error code, but glad my video helped get you back on the road.
The Conclusion: I got my part from amazon prime for $382 with a 70 dollar rebate for signing up for a amazon credit card. I replaced the part myself but that one right side nut was a bitch to get to. You better have the right tool and a lot of patience. After a software update the car runs great.
Nice vid, thanks very much! I kinda wish you had shown how you got those bolts off... some look completely inaccessible, beneath things... that's what kills me every time I try a repair of this type; I can SEE the bolt that needs to come off to get to the next thing... but I can't reach it, or I can't figure out to turn the thing, once I've got a wrench to reach it... Question if I you have time: I read another person changed out the TCM, but did not mount it back in the same place, saying it's likely that heat from the gearbox is what kills these units. Do you think a person could save time/hassle by leaving the old one in place, and simply connecting the new one, mounted elsewhere? 2 other guys said they zip-tied their new TCM to the brake line assembly on the firewall. This would negate the need to reach those last remote bolts completely. What do you think?
HarrrySpider I agree it was really hard to get good video of that last mounting bolt. I tried several times to get good video, but it was all garbage. That is why I put the new TCM own on top to show the orientation of the bolts. With a ratcheting box open end it was not hard to loosen, but would have been really tough with out one..
@@rodlewis276 thank u sir. Just wondering because it's a tough module to get to do simple voltage measurements since everything is in the way. I guess if u take the battery out and the tray and hook a jump box to the terminals and do test from there before making a 300$ call or more.
yeah that didn't work out, it ended up being a "system mistake" they ordered a Honda part, and i ended up having to suck it up and pay the dealership 680 cuz no one else could get it. good news is it solved the problem but shit
Mine just started this yesterday. It will blip, and i guess reset and be fine for the rest of the drive. It has yet to get where the AT light stays on. I just bought a module today at lunch, and should be here Friday evening. I just hope it does not get worse in the next couple of days.
Great video. It was fairly simple to swap out besides the bolts that you can't see on the TCM. Everything seems to be running fine. I'm just worried that i may have caused some minor mechanical wear by driving it till the new TCM came in. So i'm not sure i'm hypersensitive to every road surface or if it may be something in the tranny slipping or lugging, but I can't complain too much. Overall everything seems back to normal. Thanks for the video.
Rod Lewis it worked great ,and it wasn't hard to get to the TCM, I bought the new TCM online for around 550.00 at a alternative Mazda dealership, the one by my house was asking 750.00. so it pays to shop around.hope this helps.
I have a 2010 Mazda 3, I'm having the issue where the check engine will turn on, then the AT light will turn on and you can feel the automatic transmission shifting down. The AT light will turn on mainly around 40-50MPH when it reach 4th gear, at times it'll turn on even when shifting down, but without any forced gear change. I took the car to a repair shop, they overcharged me $600 for Transmission Fluid change and a Speed Sensor. I took the car to a transmission shop and they check the fluid which is new, but are saying that is a little gummy at the end and suspect that the transmission is coming apart. They want to charge $2,500 to tear apart the transmission. Im fucking wasting my time and money with these auto repair shops while all of the symptoms my car is having perfectly matched what the internet is saying.
@@ItDoesntMATTERwhatYourNameIS After that, I went to another transmission place where they charged $200 just for doing the initial diagnosis of the car even when I was telling them what I wanted done, I declined. I went back to the first transmission place, I told them what I wanted done only to have them hold my car under the sun for a month waiting on the part to be shipped. After multiple calls and arguments, they tricked me and fixed nothing while charging me $300. After that I went to Mazda and they charged between $600 to over $1000 including labor. I was told they weren't sure if it'll even fix the issue, so I declined. I got tired of how bad the repair shops are on my city and decided never to deal with them again, so I traded my car for a (new at the time) 2020 Mazda 3.
great job ill do the same on mazda 3 2006. but the question is what will you do with the old part will you return it for core charge or resell it ?? thanx for the video
Getting code for p0762- shift stuck on solenoid C, I just replaced solenoid C and drained/filled with new ATF fluid but problem still persists. You think I should just try replacing the TCM now? car is fine 1-3gears, but has trouble in the 4th. it can catch on sometimes, but slips mostly. @rod Lewis
@John sir? Pls reply. Mine gets clunks and all but ive notice that it goes away of i reset the battery but goes back after few minutes. My mazda 3 wont shift to 3rd gear unless my speed goes around 130kph

my 2004 mazda3(philippines) has a 2.0 liter engine which looks practically the same as the3 one you are working on this video. i am having the same problem... after seeing this video , i inquired with the mazda philippines about the TCM. according to them after checking their computer.. the 2.0 liter version has no TCM. is your car 2.0 or 2.3? Thanks!
Hey man, great video. I want to ask if your car had the same symptoms as I do. I started my 2006 Mazda3, put it on Reverse, it had a rough shift and a clunk. Then, I put it on D, rough shifted but stuck on one gear. Did this happened to you too? My AT light and CEL light were on too.
Kheng Koon Chew I would get rough shifting, clunk, while driving. You need to get the error code your car is giving to really understand where to go from there. If you get the same error code as I did then this video will help you with the steps to replace your TCM.
@@rodlewis276 what if I'm not getting an error code.. I was driving then all of the sudden I noticed it was stuck in 3rd and I gave it more gas but it wouldn't go into 4th. The at light came on and noticed it wasn't going in 2nd either. Turned off the car and let it sit for a few hrs till I could try to diagnose what was going on. The at light was not on after and it was shifting normal when sitting there..but when I started to drive again it wouldn't change gears and finally did a hard jerk and the at light came back on and the shifting was jerky with high revs. No error code is coming up.. how do I tell if it's the tcm ,shifting points or just bad transmission?
@@Cornbreadfed420 if you are not getting the code in the video it’s could be a shift solenoid but those throw a code too. Might need a shop to diagnose the problem.
It won’t throw any codes because you disconnected the battery and it reset it . Hope it fixed your car thought ! I just bought one and really hoping it fixes it !
thank you. i will take this video to the mechanic that "fixed" my car's problem... smh my question is nothing happens if i keep using it after that lights turns on.. ??
Hi , thank u for this video, it’s very helpful and professional, but sorry I have a question, Do u think that i can get this TCM from the scrap or the took those replacements before letting the car to the public?
Great video! My tcm is going bad in my 2008 Mazda 3 and the dealership is asking close to $700 just for the part. Where did you end up getting the tcm? I have a part number that the dealership gave me.

Hi, i have a question I bought a TCM module with exactly the same serial number, it is identical to the damaged TCM, do i just have to replace it ? Don't have to reprogram or something similar ? Thx
I just changed mine aperently they go bad because of the heat from the transmission this is my second one replacing olot of people say sip tie it to the brake hoses so it can last longer but I went an put some felt pads on the bottom what u think ? Awesome vid
Ok thanks, but i have 2 questions: does it have to be program or straight swap, how do i get the part number if i got the other one before taking off the old one, i am planning to order it from junk yard, i drive the car to work every day
I have a similar problem. I changed the TCM 2 days ago, it did not fix any problem, unfortunately. My car always shows: check engine and AT lights. Very rough shifting from park to reverse and drive. It would not shift over 3rd gear. Manul shifting not working. Does any have any suggestion?
why is it that you in 5th gear and your speed still say 45-50 don't is supposed to be going faster than that that's the problem I'm having my speed still say 4550 even though I change the control module did change the speed sensor
What codes were you getting? Im getting the same issue but im finding other videos saying it might be the speed sensor . If you were getting p0720 then this is my problem
cool video i have mazda 6 2005 my question to you is little crazy maybe well okay IS IT POSSIBLE MAZDA 6 I 2005 2.3L HAS 4 SPEED TRANS?? CAUSE I NEVER SEEN 5TH ON IT EVEN WHEN DRIVE IT OVER 90 MPH PLEASE ANSWER...THANKS ...
I didn't have to replace the tcm I had the same problem and I just switch the neutral safety switch in The transmission it only cost me 12 bucks and it worked perfectly
hi Rod Lewis i got mazda 6 2008 2.0 liter petrol (UK Model) ..all simpton are same with engine light ..do u think thats the same issue (TCM)..? Fault Code P2709 (shift solenoid f electrical)
Did the AT light turn off automatically??? I had the same exact problem. I replaced the tcm and all the symptoms were fixed! But my AT LIGHT is still on. Which is weird
How do you get the battery cables that were attached to the side of the battery box? I'm having troubles unclipping them in order to remove the box. Is there a tool you use to unclip the battery cables? Thanks in advance!
Tion B I did not remove the wires on the side of the battery box. I removed wires on front of box, then rotated the box leaving the side wires connected.
VERY well done!! THANK YOU! I have a 2008 Mazda 3 which has just started to jump into 3 gear and show the AT light. The problem has only been intermittent so far. Do you know if the code would be present only during the failure or does the computer store the history of its codes?
I took apart my battery box and looked under the harness to see that the tcm is not where it is in this video. I have a 2008 2.0. Just need a clue to where this thing is located.
Yes. Usually just the "AT" light will initially turn ON by itself and then the "Check Engine" light will turn on soon afterwards (usually within a few miles).
I have a 2007 Mazda 3. AT light is on. Shifts to 2nd gear right off. Shifts hard between 3rd and 4th gear. error code is DTC P0772 [FS5A-EL]. Possible cause: shift solenoid E stuck on, control valve stuck, TCM malfuction. what's the most likely suspect?
Remember the engine moves with respect to the frame. I am not sure if there is enough slack in the harness to accommodate mounting to battery box. Proceed with caution. :-)
Apparently some guys are mounting it to the brake lines that run along the fire wall. Ordering the part this week to make this fix, but not sure about that as a mounting point.
Is this the fix for a hard shift from 3-4 gear also? 08 Mazda3, replace this part and it’s good to go? I read a lot about the ecu needs to be reflashed for the fix??
Bluegill20 This is a fix for error code indicated in the video. The TCU doesn’t need to be programmed. Just plug and play. I have heard of dealers using the programming to try to scare people from doing it themselves.
My AT light is on And my TCS/DSC vehicle with the swerving lines Amber yellow lights are on I just thought of my car coming out to work that night and then the car struggle to go anywhere struggle to's take off this is before I bought the car I noticed I never had the gearshift light up in the center consul but in the cluster it's fine that lights up but with the AT light on automatic trans axle light Malfunction failure lights must be something related too the Cv axle on the passenger side goes into the intermediate shaft that been clicking ever since I bought the car like something is broken I never got the chance to change that one out because it's two pieces maybe that has something to do with the computer thrown the AT light on from the TCM. Please correct me if I'm wrong but won't just replacing the powertrain power control module AT pcm computer won't fix the problem isn't there something mechanically that's broken that causes the light to come on too? I'll be my first guess fix the mechanical then worry about the computer or at least try toO diagnostic the parts before replacing it then going to the electrical part then diagnostic that

I have a 2008 mazda 3 that's having the same issues. Went to autozone to have the codes read and it was throwing the same code, but they also told us it may just be loose wiring because the AT light had been switching on and off more frequently (we were sitting at a stoplight and it switched on 3 separate times before staying off for a few minutes). Would it be worth the effort to take the battery out and check for loose wires, or would we be better off if we went ahead and ordered a new tcm and replaced it?
Hailey Dilday It depends on a how long can you be without your car? It is a communication error which can be wiring or the TCM itself. Checking wiring and connector is free. If you can keep the car in garage for awhile you can do the wiring check, and only order the TCM if you don’t find anything.
Great video! Hey man I have a 2008 Mazda 5 with 2.3L engine and 5speed automatic transmission. Just hit 85k odometer, and they AT light came on, also the gear indicator is gone too. Just had it scanned and got this codes PO732/PO734. I thought the problem in shifter solenoids, replaced all six of them with OEM refurbished from eBay but still getting the code. It's not shifting to 4th gear with very late shift to 3rd gear. I flushed the fluid twice filling with new each time and putting new transmission filter. But still have the problem going on, could it be bad tranny or TCM?
I have a 2010 model. Do all the same exact steps apply? I know that battery removal step is a little different. Not quite sure what my TCM number is tho. =/
Thank you so much for this. Couldn't have done my Mazda 5 without this vid. Sure wish they had made that Battery box about 1" shorter all around. yikes.
Techwest Computer Resources my 2008 Mazda 3 LF 2.0 automatic transmission problem the car is blank only AT, and 3rd gear I've been driving now almost 2 week in that gear now I'm worried and confused they say its TCM can it be fixed? it's very expensive to buy, it might have major problem, I put in manual doesn't work.
does mazda 3 2005 2.3 has a tcm because i look under the battery and there is nothing ? or this tcm is include in the computer please help it has the same issue as the one on this video .
what about the sensors around the Computer module tcm sitting next to the computer and on the transmission can those be the cause of no shift limp mode only drive in 3rd don't show gear change then I pulled out my Tcm tonight cause I have AT yellow light automatic transaxle light on And also my TSC yellow car pictures swerving line icon on the dashboard by the mph and. Odometer Custler
Quick question for you guys .. I have 2008 Mazda 3 hatchback also with a TCM that needs replacement.. let’s say I drove the car for a few days .. tranny still seems fine .. although my sensor goes on then a couple minutes after driving it goes away and drives like normal .. will that eventually mess up my transmission? The TCM is shipping as we speak
You need to look at error code your car is giving. If your error message is same as in my video then your TCM is having communication errors. This is typically from the PCB getting so hot the soldering remelts and components start to become disconnected. Heat cycles can make the problems intermittent but it will eventually get worse with time.
My 2008 mazda 3 2.3l starting having transmition problems where when i turn it on the engine light, tansmition light, and the traction light all come on and it no longer shows me what gear I am in. when I put it in drive I have a majo lack in power and it feels heavy as if I am trying to drive with the e-brake on. Took it into an auto repairs shop and they called out the tcm being bad and want to charge over $1200. I found the part online for $200 however and can easily install it myself but when I told them that they said it would need to be calibrated as well. would I really have to calibrate it and they're just bs-ing me, or could I find a way to calibrate it myself?
leave the car running for 20 min on idle after replacement. Calibration is necessary so the change of gear goes smootly. leaving the car idle for 20 min will do that all 'automatically'. That's at least what i have been told.
You can buy the TCM from here.

Best regard,
Hi Rod! My car got the AT light plus check engine. Got no lights for the gears too. You think it's the TCM? Car's got no power to accelerare.

Josh Montano Thank you. That is what I was going for..
This video saved me from being conned by the stealership. Thank you for sharing. My son's Mazda 3 is back on the road again :)
doublegolden 2018 So glad to hear that. 😎
That is great news! You are the reason I made and posted this video. I can’t believe how many people it’s helped. 🤙🏻
Just letting you know your video helped me fix my daughter's car by showing me how to DIY replace the TCM. Everything was exactly as you showed. Thank you!
I am glad it helped you! This is the reason why I did it.
did you have to reprogram the TCM when you bought the new one?
No. Just installed it and everything worked. :-)
Rod Lewis did you had to program it? Or provide vin ## ??

Excellent video. Bad TCM is common transmission problem in Mazda vehicles
My 2008 3 GT suffered the dreaded AT yellow light, and CEL (PO758) which cost $129 at a Mazda Dealer around 200K Kms -
as a result of this malfunction and reliability issue, combined with the inability of the dealer to properly diagnose the problem,
I will never purchase another Mazda product !
Totally Agree!! Is an incredible expensive part that although is changed there is no guarantee it will work properly in the long run..... Mazda Sucks
Bought a rebuilt TCM on Amazon for 300.00
I am glad the video helped you out.
Did it fix your AT LIGHT AND DID IT WORK AND LAST?
God damn mazda dealer! They've told me I needed a new transmission when my AT light came on. It was only the TCM and and a transmission fluid change that my mazda needed. This mazda I have, will be my last one I own.

Did it work??
@@KingMateo575 no I had to by the Second and third gear solenoid’s inside the transmission oil pan. And that did fix the problem and been driving it ever since.
I did this. Bought mine off amazon. Mazda wanted $800 for part. Amazon was $400. Did this 3 years ago when car wouldnt shift above 3rd. Still working now

Just removed mine to send away to be refurbished. This was really helpful!
As of Aug 2022, Mazda dealer was $1000 CDN. Thanks for video and will check Ebay link
Thanks for this helpful upload, I imagine the change on a mazda 5 would be very similar.
any updates?
update for code p0753 same problem? im going to buy a tcm instead of the transfluid
do you fix your mazda 5 ?
Very well done. Especially for a first timer. I know it's a lot of work, so thank you!
Gear Whine Thanks! I tried to trim out all the wasted time to get the video short and still have all the information a person would need to do this.
Rod Lewis, well you succeeded. I used it to rule out the TCM and replace the VSS. Something tells me the TCM will also become a problem, but replacing it isn't a daunting proposition anymore. Thanks again.
My 2006 Mazda 3 2.3L just started doing that. I was just going to buy a new transmission.

I’m glad it helped.
It will be here on Feb.3.
any updates?
250 bucks to plug ODB2 reader and read a code? You could have bought a reader and did that yourself. Sorry to hear that you had to pay that much to get a error code, but glad my video helped get you back on the road.
No reprogramming was needed. Just installed new TCM, and all my error codes cleared. It has been driving fine ever since.
Awesome video sir. But how did u test it? or did u just guess and prayed that it worked. Be nice to know for the diyers out there. Thank u
Jason Chavez I just plugged in the new one like the video shows. When I started the car back up. No error code was present. It’s just that simple. 😎
Chris Penuliar sell it! I waited too long and now i might be out all trade in value.
Well how did it go?
Great video. It was fairly simple to swap out besides the bolts that you can't see on the TCM. Everything seems to be running fine. I'm just worried that i may have caused some minor mechanical wear by driving it till the new TCM came in. So i'm not sure i'm hypersensitive to every road surface or if it may be something in the tranny slipping or lugging, but I can't complain too much. Overall everything seems back to normal. Thanks for the video.
great video ,, my Mazda 3 is doing the same thing , I think you just saved me a lot of money ,many Thanks
Have your issue been sorted out?
Did you use the video to install the new TCM? If yes... how did it go?
What did you end up doing
Just got mine in from Mazda swag before even watching your video. But a little more expensive.

Kheng Koon Chew I would get rough shifting, clunk, while driving. You need to get the error code your car is giving to really understand where to go from there. If you get the same error code as I did then this video will help you with the steps to replace your TCM.

Im asking just because im thinking about purchasing one of this cara.
It depends on how messed up it is. It will eventually leave you stranded on the side of the road and calling a tow truck.
why is it that you in 5th gear and your speed still say 45-50 don't is supposed to be going faster than that that's the problem I'm having my speed still say 4550 even though I change the control module did change the speed sensor

Hi just wanted to know what you did it supposed to fix all the symptoms cause i have the problem of th driver letter indicator goes blank.
i have the exact same problems !!!! but will this cause the check engine light to turn on ?
Possible cause: shift solenoid E stuck on, control valve stuck, TCM malfuction. what's the most likely suspect?
is there any particular reason to remount the tcm in a spot where it may overheat again? i was thinking of mounting it on my battery box.
Remember the engine moves with respect to the frame. I am not sure if there is enough slack in the harness to accommodate mounting to battery box. Proceed with caution. :-)
People in Latin America are changing the position to move the TCM inside the "cockpit" just adding longer cables. sorry for my english
How do you know if it is not the starter problem when it doesn't shift properly? First thought of trouble shifting is starter.

Doesn’t the OBD reader give you a specific code, so if the code gives you P0720, then is it a tcm?
I think that code is shifter solenoid. You can google the error message.
@@rodlewis276 thank you. However even online information hasn’t been very direct and I’ll check it out
My AT light is on And my TCS/DSC vehicle with the swerving lines Amber yellow lights are on I just thought of my car coming out to work that night and then the car struggle to go anywhere struggle to's take off this is before I bought the car I noticed I never had the gearshift light up in the center consul but in the cluster it's fine that lights up but with the AT light on automatic trans axle light Malfunction failure lights must be something related too the Cv axle on the passenger side goes into the intermediate shaft that been clicking ever since I bought the car like something is broken I never got the chance to change that one out because it's two pieces maybe that has something to do with the computer thrown the AT light on from the TCM. Please correct me if I'm wrong but won't just replacing the powertrain power control module AT pcm computer won't fix the problem isn't there something mechanically that's broken that causes the light to come on too? I'll be my first guess fix the mechanical then worry about the computer or at least try toO diagnostic the parts before replacing it then going to the electrical part then diagnostic that
having this same problem with my 04 any recommendations on where can find good tcm for cheap

Good job on this video
If you can keep the car in garage for awhile you can do the wiring check, and only order the TCM if you don’t find anything.
good job , I would like to ask which year is your Mazda car . I have same problem in my car 2007 mazda 3s
2007
sorry I have mazda 3 model 2007 japan but I can't fine the TCM in the same place .
so i had changed mine. it was okay. for 2 days. and now it is back . would the soeed sensor be at fault?
Can't find tcm under the battery box, and my power steering went off and problem with starting only jump cable, is it tcm ?
What do you call the two sets of wireset next to the battery holder
Murad 1111 any updates in ur mazda 5? Coz i have the same issue.Thks
I have a 2010 model. Do all the same exact steps apply? I know that battery removal step is a little different. Not quite sure what my TCM number is tho. =/
I do not know if 2010 is similar configuration. It likely not the same.
What error code did you get? I got PO753. It said shift solenoid a but it could also be the tcm.
Anthony Igania look at 1:04 to 1:06 on video.
what about the sensors around the Computer module tcm sitting next to the computer and on the transmission can those be the cause of no shift limp mode only drive in 3rd don't show gear change then I pulled out my Tcm tonight cause I have AT yellow light automatic transaxle light on And also my TSC yellow car pictures swerving line icon on the dashboard by the mph and. Odometer Custler
did you figure out what was wrong?
What if the lights on but the car still runs fine? Electrical problem?
GARBEZ5150 There was no calibration needed on the part I bought.
leave the car running for 20 min on idle after replacement. Calibration is necessary so the change of gear goes smootly. leaving the car idle for 20 min will do that all 'automatically'. That's at least what i have been told.
Is it just plug and play or would you have to take it to a place to get it programmed to the car?
The TCM does not need to be programmed.
