There’s nothing quite like the roar of a high-performance engine. Mustangs, Maseratis, Porsches and BMWs: an array of super luxury cars that most of us can only dream of owning. But what if there was a way to get the ride of your fantasies onto your driveway? A hundred and thirty victims of an elaborate Ponzi scheme thought they’d hit the jackpot when some of the world's most luxurious car brands were offered to them for free as part of an elaborate scheme. Unfortunately, they’d been caught up in a scam. Carte Blanche investigates.

One look at Arrie , should be a warning 😂 how’s the hairstyle
For a small country right at the bottom of Africa, Mzansi has striking headlines very often...
Small country, boy you must be crazy... South Africa ain't small at all
What's Mzansi?
It's a movie, infact a whole Series.... every week something to shock the masses 😂
It's the lawlessness 🚮😩
@@satoshinakamoto6808 Lol exactly...movie, series, documentary etc....people have no idea
If I earn 40k a month, why on earth would I think I should be driving a R2m car?
Could be even. With that salary you cannot afford the installment unless you pay 80% dep.
South Africa has enough drama for a 12 season reality TV show on Netflix😮. Carte Blanche has no shortage of content
Brilliant reporting from the Carte Blanche team...👌
"The greater the outward show, the greater the inner poverty."
How ignorant does one have to be to fall for this? The mind, it boggles.
They didn't lie to them... They promised to take them for a ride of their lives😂
😂😂😂😂😭😭😭😭😭🤞🤞🤞
eina!
Now Cordelia will sell even less than her 3 CD’s a year.
Well. I am a banker and Investigates financial crimes similar to this... What I can tell you is, these deals would NOT be possible if the Banker(s) approving the finance wasn't/weren't corrupt/bribed/complicit... The guy at Marguis is the one falsifying the financials, that is clear. The participants themselves cannot claim ignorance, they somehow new something is wrong here. Wth.
All schemes are designed to play on peoples greed, it’s within all of us to want the most rewards for the least amount of risk or work, some have learned to control this urge while others seem to struggle differentiating between fantasy and reality. Stop living your life trying to impress others and rather spend your time impressing yourself.
I know a few people with true wealth, not credit cards and debt up to their ears but genuine money and none of them drive exotic cars.
Most rich people leverage their credit buying power but they don't overdo it.
I have no sympathy for the participants they wanted to flex with their bling
What's wrong with flexing? Are they harming anyone by flexing?
Intentional flexing is one thing but some of these people were fleeced
It's still puzzles me why people don't do research through legitimate channels, in this case banks. Surely they could have found out that they didn't qualify for finance of high value vehicles with their current income. Not to mention, that "collective" schemes like this don't work using proper finance mechanisms.
For sure the ANC "the gold Mafia" 4 episodes on RUclips infiltrated 4 major banks and sasfin; ANC won't prosecute ANC 💰 is all that matters
It is all about the thrill of posting on social media about your new car. The dopamine boost is addictive to such an extent that all rational thinking goes out the door.
Arie must sue his barber 😂
The investors are as guilty of as much greed as the scheme captains. It is all about flaunt and thirst. Look at me, look at me. Now they must pay.
Nicely articulated, thank you sis❤
The participants bought cars through the scheme costing 50% more than they would pay at the dealership. Am I missing something, why not just buy the car directly from the dealer, and why would one ever conclude a deal where somebody else makes the payments, leaving you high and dry if they default?
Also what about the kick back money from the banks to the dealerships on each deal? hmmmmm
I don't feel sorry for any of the victim this goes back to the simple principle of living within one's means. They were greedy and over looked obvious things. if you play with fire u get burnt-out. Did they even look at their finance contract??
Hey that's just how the medical aid schemes work.
A fool and his money are easily parted
The ignorance of wealth to show it off; yet SARS is loosing out to the ANC illicit trade with their cartels and syndicates; it is now a pandemic in SA; ANC is the root of all problems in SA along with not one Gupta's group but many 😢
ANC ? how is this conected again, i only saw a very small group of people that wanted to show off. it has nothing to do with no political party...i am not even an ANC member
Does any of the people in this video look like ANC members? ANC is resolved for other things but it should be dragged into particularly this scam
how does this comment relate to the video about greedy socialites trying to drive cars they can't afford?
@@nothandonxumalo4460It doesn't. Even when It's European Africans,we always find a way to bring in the ANC.🤣🤣
Lol let's learn to hold the right people accountable. This has nothing to do with politics.
Serves people who are so gullible and believe that a fancy car makeith the soul clean. This idea of wanting wealth and material things is what has led SA down the path of immortality and decent.
I want to srart a scheme involving barbers to give this Arie guy monthly haircuts 😂😂
It is amazing how many people still fall for these scams.
I love south Africa, always something happening 🤣🤣
I don't think it was a Ponzi scheme per se. In a Ponzi scheme, there is typically no product involved and the lure is to promise a high return on investment. In this case the business was to share luxury cars and not get a return on investment. The inflated prices was needed to get this business to work, but unfortunately, they underestimated the costs of buying and maintaining expensive cars. That said, they did falsify documents to get the vehicles on credit and must be held accountable for that.
Always a scam in South Africa
Brilliant concept, horrible execution.
Bayalunga 🤣🤣 I actually have no sympathy for these people, they were greedy themselves and looking to own what was beyond their reach. What happened to buying a simple cars if you can afford one.
Most people (us guys) buy a high end car because of our ego.... A car+insurance should not be more then 10% of your salary..
I have no sympathy for these people. Always trying to keep up with the Jones's 😂😂😂😂
I drive 🚙 all these luxury cars in my dreams 😴 & it doesn't cost me a cent #
This is common for banks insiders
bonkers!!
This video is about to end and I still do not see what wrong was done here from the consumer's POV. You want to drive a great car outside of your means, they came up with a scheme to get you just that. Unless we expect convinience to come at no cost, then I am confused here.
From what I've figured, they falsified income to the banks. The banks thought these folks could afford these cars. Now installments aren't being paid and now the consumers are having to live with the massive shortfalls even if they trade in.
lol....Bathong, South Africa. 💀💀
Please tell that it wasn't just the same Cordelia that sang the Australian National Anthem at Loftus earlier today????
I thought rich people have brains 😂😂😂
Scam is a great thing 😂.. what she can do is sing a song for us... Call it Lambo number 5... Or no Ferrari in a hurry😂
😂😂😂😢😢
Trying to live the "i`m better than you life", now they are just reaping the low life! Rather drive a Chevy Spark and still be able to drive it next month than to drive a Lambo now and have to walk next month!
Luxury pyramid scheme now built with cars😂
Lol 'Bruma Nissan'... Weren't these okes on carte blanche several years ago for chopping 2 cars together and seeing them as a new vehicle? Suprise suprise?
And yet no one realize that Celebs are the first people any company runs to when they want to push a product, this product was sold by the owner and banks securing it as an legit product to all these celebs used and there is many more they dont mention in here under fals pretences. What about the buyers lying to the banks and signed an corrupt contract into their own name, did the ambassadors sign it? Dont people do a full risk assesment of their affordability when buying a car, home, who lied with Arrie, not the ambassadors reffering which are called agents by this journalist. Think people think, the buyers complaining now after driving a flashy car beyond their means for free are the only guys in the wrong here right up there with the owner that sold this deals with amazing presentation skills to them. Common sense does not cost money people.
In covid times wanting to drive flashy cars for show off, yes will say it like it is, is absurd.
Delusion of grandiose
a sucker is born every minute
I thought high scammers like this is only for developed countries only here in our country yet white ppl l am so amazed jho to be honest 😮😮😮😅😅 why they can't take back the car if they struggling
Because they don't actually have the vechiles. They most probably have been sold off elsewhere or stripped and the parts sold and the victims sit with the finace that still needs to be paid.
@@francoiscoetzee8420 I did not get how it works as well. I thought the victims had the cars in their position.
?????
Fast and the furious
Your ego can cost you a lot of money. Pay up what you signed for.
Money the root of all evil.
fools and their money soon part😁
I've sent in a story. Please take a look at it. It is very urgent
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 these only got approved cause of being part of a certain demographic.
What did you learn? Come on. Don't fact check me, pyramid schemes are why Egypt has pyramids... 😂 Their stories will forever be told over and over again, regardless of time or place the schemes shall continue.
PS: There's now way the Pyramids weren't a result of a Ponzi scheme or several schemes.
Cordelia is absolutely innocent in this!!!
She is innocent my stinky foot
ANC is also innocent 😂 C'mon get out of here!
Poor Cordelia....... How to flush your music career down the drain. Here is an opportunity for a PR miracle..
If you only knew the truth you would say something else, but it will come out soon then i hope you retract your keyboard warrior comment.
@@ferdisteyn3610please enlighten us with the truth
This is actually a great Idea if done legally. Luxury carshare... marketplace app if thinking in terms of a startup business. Anyways These members should have paid like atleast R4k pm for access @ 150 members = R600 000pm(covers atleast 7 or 8 R4Mil cars pm ). These "clients/buyers" were kinda signing "surety" + 1 benefit, They actually got a luxury car. This is basically (example) a friend asking me to take out bond finance on my name for him, and in return I can drive his lamborghini. These palookas failed because they were just not smart. MORAL OF MY STORY - I have seen so many scammers doing so much real work, put so much real effort and thought into a scam... they might as well, in the first place, just do honest and ethical business!!
