The surface of a Geotube® should be periodically swept with a broom to prevent a build up of the solids moving through the Geotube® that may clog the fabric pores. Wacking the Geotube® with a rubber hose/shambok will achieve this, as well as breakup any filter cake that may form on the inside surface of the Geotube®. The formation of a filter cake is usually a result of incorrect dosing of the sludge with polymer flocculant, prior to it being pumped into the Geotube®.
This looks impressive indeed!

Why are they whacking the tubes?
Holes must be jamming water flow
helps water to come out, sometimes debris get stuck in the pores
Will precipitation species come out as well, or only H2O?
Reminds me of PHX....
