As an American, I am glad when we react with class to a deliberate insult. I believe during a Red Wing game, there was some disrespect years ago when O, Canada was sung. However, the real measure of our Canadian allies was proven during the 9/11 attacks. The Canadians immediately offered to land all international flights on their soil in one of the most historically selfless acts by an ally. One entire town, Gander, hosted 7,000 stranded passengers enroute to the United States. The citizens opened their homes, literally, to these people. The Canadians are not only great neighbors, but true friends and allies. Thank you, again.

What people love to ignore, especially bruin fans, is that this boo'ing happened not long after Chara tried taking Pacioretti's head off intentionally. What the Habs fans were Boo'ing was Chara's face popping up on the jumbotron, I know because I was there, and no, I didn't boo, but I laugh at how clingy the bruin fans are to accuse Habs fans of boo'ing the anthem when in reality, it was Chara.

Disrespect of any anthem only reflects on you, it shows you have no respect, class, or regard for others and yourself. Also many french people feel they have gained the respect and status they deserve with many canadians. There history and language is required learning, They hold many seats in government and the whole country pays attention to how they vote as much as Ontario, the most populated province in the country.

I'll respond to your comment since it's most reasonable. Now I believe Montreal is a very political city. If memory serves me correctly this was around the Iraq invasion and the whole talk about WMDs. So with an already hatred for Boston, then add in a "phoney" war, well you saw the result. I agree booing a national anthem is shameful. Whether it be hockey, baseball, even the Olympics, keep politics out of it. I think Islander fans also did this once. Their club had to release a statement, to also remind their fans that Canadians also play for their team.

So it's obvious that our country wouldn't be what it is if it wasn't for the veterans well if that flag means that much to the veterans shouldn't it be respected and preserved.... If you want a protest why would you desecrate the very symbol that gives you the right to protest..doesn't doesn't make sense... ARE YOU FOR REAL?!!! Back in a time when "The Soviet Army" were beating the shit out out of North American Teams the "Miracle On Ice" highly topped every accomplishment in the history of U.S. Olympic Hockey, including beating those same Ruskies 20 years beforehand at Squaw Valley for another Gold Medal. There, I gave you two events more historic to U.S. Hockey than their 1996 Victory against Canada.
The last time they met in an exhibition before the 1980 Winter Olympics, The Soviet Union beat the shit out of the U.S. 10-3, go figure! No Red-Blooded American(Even Myself) ever thought that it would be possible after that sound defeat. In fact those American relaxed a bit against West Germany in their Final Game before The Medal Round(To avoid playing The Soviets) down 2-0 at the end of the 1st Period. Coach Herb Brooks saw this and lit a fire under Team USA and they responded with 4 Goals in the next Two Periods to win 4-2.
